PC building is dead.

Memecoins killed it.

my seagate hasn't failed me yet...

Build a DDR3 PC on integrated graphics
9/10 didn't, you you're just not unlucky

Why make these threads when literally none of you fucking help and are useless?

I just bought this amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZYHZ6R6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Color out of the box is trash, as to be expected. How do I go about calibrating this so the color isn't so washed out and awful? I lowered the refresh rate to 120hz from 144hz and it helped, but the color still needs some tweaking. Advice?

Nigger what are you talking about?
You post a build and people here will make it better within budget

Thank you!

Just a friendly reminder that getting a refurbished office PC with a 3rd or 4th gen i5(i7 if you get a lucky find) and 8-16gbs of ram is the absolute best deal poorfags can get right now.

All you gotta do is throw in a low profile 1050ti.

Currently I just have 16gb ddr4 ram for my new build, waiting on tax return, going r3 1300/b350 dunno about gpu maybe microcenter in boston wont have gpu stock issues mid feb

*for a little over 60% the MSRP

2200G my friend
Cheaper than the 1300X and better

>2200G
yea if its out and avail ill def do with the 2200, supposed to be mid feb as well right?

cant wait to see how the apu handles 1080p

What's a good case for someone who has had an Antec 300 for almost 7 years and really liked it but wants to upgrade to something newer?

Depends on what you liked about it.
How many drive bays/usb do you want, and what is your budget?

>supposed to be mid feb as well right?
February 12.
Just in time for Valentines Day.
Because AMD loves you.

all mostly personal preference

the NZXT S340 is a decent budget case

cool, plenty of time for reviews to come out. I dunno if ill put much hype into an APU based on their previous versions but on paper so far the new ones look good

if you need an ODD, the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M with tempered glass is a solid choice. Waiting on mine to be shipped.

some of the reviewers are already doing their benchmarks. I know Ozi from OziTalksHW got his Raven Ridge review samples in already. He posted a photo of them on his official Discord

Is a 120gb SSD fine just to run Windows off of and maybe a few games?

Is there any info on these yet as to the actual speed and ipc compared to the first gen? Are they going to be the same specs but with integrated graphics?

People are speculating 15%+- performance increase but has AMD released any new news on this? Also the price.

I want to buy am R7 but was waiting for the news on the refresh.

I have a Toshiba HDD, and it gets really noisy sometimes (kinda like a low grumbling noise...?), should I be worried? I think it's exaggerated by my case's poor HDD mount (metal vibrating against metal screw), and only really happens when opening stuff.

Windows and essential programs, but not games. Get at least 240GB, 500GB is ideal.

This.

youtube.com/watch?v=rKqdDiL8t80

That's cutting it pretty close.

I had a 120 gb only for about a year. It’s definitely frustrating, you have room for maybe two AAA games. Just save a little more for a 500 gb.

>Ryzen APUs will release on Feb. 12. The 2200G (99USD) and 2400G (169USD) are similar to the R3 1300X and R5 1500X respectively in cores/threads+clockspeed, but they have integrated graphics. The 2200G has 8 Vega CUs and the 2400G has 11 CUs, so they're in the same performance tier as the RX 550 (8CUs) or GT 1030.

Since OP decided to be retarded and leave that out purposely.

I've been using this PSU (CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX 450W) for almost 10 years, is there a possibility that it will just die on me any day now?

can i run games at 1920*1080 on these things without them getting stretched to fit the entire panel?

I have a 10 year old psu and want to know this as well!

Like anything, it always could.
Go into game settings and set the resolution to 1920x1080.

would that setting be in the GPU or displays software?

No; it would be in game settings.

>Phanteks
case looks nice but i've never heard of them, is it a good brand?

I have a PSU of 500W 80plus, I plan to buy a 1060, should I buy a new PSU or this one will work?

Does it have a 6-pin power connector? If so you're fine to keep it.

Phanteks is a relatively new brand that's built a name on high quality, great value cases. They're based in the netherlands

im my experience they tend to gradually die vs suddenly die.

example is you will notice that they randomly shut off if you run too many applications at the same time or the machine just outright conks off when you launch intensive applications.

another thing you might notice is that the machine just wont start unless you disconnect the power from a bunch of peripherals and drives.

anything but antec for starters.

nzxt and corsaire are my favorites even though my current build is actually this pic related fucker of all things. its good if you need a lot of easy to access drives.

>anything but antec for starters.
Antec is an old name in the case industry. They're known as a thought leader> They just haven't kept up with competition and relied on their brand name.

If you're upgrading other parts you might as well get a new psu
Yes it's a great brand, I'm between that one and the S340 Elite. From what I read the Eclipse P400 is good too

Post some A S T H E T I C cases, I have a case in mind for airflow and all that but want to see some sexy cases for a secondary PC.

...

ive done a lot of builds because my friend runs an "esports" cafe (lots of chinese immigrants still pay for this shit) and the current antec cases are just shite. small or fuckily paced cable management holes, leads for all the built in stuff are on the short side, they cable management area is tight especially when you are trying to put the cover on...

antec has been dead to me for a long time. atm im really liking the corsaire stuff. its the small things like how the have one standoff that has a peg in it so once you drop your board into place that peg keeps it in place you can easily put the rest of the screws in.

Best budget CPU/build to play Zelda BOTW at 60fps?

I have a 750Ti and an 120gb SSD already so just looking for a mini-atx case and board and maybe a 6 core CPU like an i5 or Ryzen.

and the same case with different outer panels.

they already have emulators for switch?

No, WiiU.

I currently have a:
6600k w/ 240mm aio
Maximus asus z170 board
980ti hybrid
3600 cl16 16gb ddr4.

I could sell my 6600k and drop in a delidded 7700k or should I sell my motherboard and 6600k, eat the bigger loss, and get a 8700k+z370?
The only demanding tasks I do are games and insane madvr settings.
I figure I need to leave 4 threads behind while I can afford to.

yes but its the wiiu emulator that works for BOTW.

>8700k
>not investing in an AMD system

>not investing in amd
HA

like $450 USD but I'll reuse my GPU and SSD

I've just gotten an S340 Elite and I can't fault it desu. I was probably more worried about cable management and it looked packed, but the panel slid on really easily so I was pleased about that. The only thing I don't like is the big front panel that only has a small opening at the top and bottom for air intake...I suppose I can fault it, but not by much.

I am looking to buy a case that'll fir the asus maximus hero the best. Any suggestions?

Why mATX and not ITX?

mATX isn't even small, cases are literally like twice the volume of any given ITX case.

>980ti hybrid
>3600 cl16 16gb ddr4.
Your good
I would recommend the 8700k. higher core and thread count, y even waste time on a delidded 7700k, just get the 8700k and your set for life. probably wont even need to bother upgrading to cannonlake or beyond for a while

The only demanding thing i do is video games and I play at 144hz 1080p. This is the one case where it makes no sense to get a zen.

All hail the queen.
Just try and touch our multithreading.

well i prefer small form factor and also i my GPU is pic related and want to keep it consistent

God damn that woman is fucking hideous

>muh threads
What a fucking fag lmao

This is lady is more masculine than me.

ITX is even smaller than mATX, that's what I am saying.

The whole point of mATX is small form factor and if you want small form factor then why not go as small as possible?

but she's smart. The woman has a doctorate in semiconductors and bought a company that was losing over 400mil per year, to posting a profit within a year.

I am gay. What of it? Doesn't discredit anything I said. in fact, it says more about you than about me.

>cant take a joke on the fucking internet
All right mate, shows more about you than me.

She can be a god damn tech savant for all I care. Doesn't change the fact that she might as well not have any sexual organs

meanwhile, the CEO of Intel has a last name that LITERALLY translates to "to fuck shit up"
Certainly explains Kaby Lake X

Uh doesnt the 8700k match the 1800x with 4 less threads?
and beat it in the only thing anyone cares about(games)?

The 8700K falls slightly behind all Ryzen 7 and Ryzen Threadripper CPUs in multithreaded benches.

well i didnt know user, i though mATX was the smallest

Here you go, I'd save some money and go for the 1600 but the 1200 should be enough. Maybe wait for the 2200g
pcpartpicker.com/list/RGBsHN

if I have an old HDD with my OS+Games on it from a few years ago that was on an Intel build (CPU+mobo chipset), would it be safe to hook it up to a AMD+b350 and expect it to run and not fuck anything up? Or will I need to wipe the drive first?

yeah but its shit at 1080p 144hz, the patricians choice, right?
1080p 144hz is the only thing i care about

1440p 165Hz is the white man's monitor.

Yes, just make sure that your board recognises it as a boot drive.
If it's a Windows 7 OEM key then you're screwed

the ryzen 1200 isnt going to cut it for 60fps Zelda but the other parts are good, ill check it out thanks

which ryzen 7?
1800x yes,
1700 not so much

>pcpartpicker.com/list/RGBsHN
the mortar will never allow the RAM to even get close to 3200. Just get a 3000 as it'll prob max out at 2933.

The 1700 always pulled slightly ahead, and now especially after the performance hit to Intel processors.

Maybe next generation. Hard enough to get minimums up to 144hz with super fast ram and an OC intel.

ITX is a lot smaller.

Also unless you are making an HTPC or some other low profile computer, full size GPUs will fit in most mATX/ITX cases.

I bought a gtx 1070 laptop with a busted screen and a 6600hq for $800. I'm going to take the pcb out, bypass the battery, and build a case for it to make it a SFF PC.
Should I go with a nvme pci-e drive or are they not worth it? It will be my OS drive, I have a 1tb sata ssd for game library and an external 10tb for music and porn.

You're right though with a 1600 you would be $100 overbudget, maybe get a cheaper case and slower ram

NVMe drives are still priced too high to be relevant unless you're at 250GB or below, but all drives are overpriced in that range.

There's no gpus anywhere. the only thing close to msrp and available is the vega frontier edition. how bad of an idea is it to just go and buy one? my build has been stalled on not having a gpu forever.

Can you post a link? It might not even be all that bad of an idea.

>no adata listed
Then I don't want it.

I found a 1050ti for 190. not great pricing but not exorbitant either.
have you tried nowinstock?

Which GPU in particular are you after?

Nevermind, found it. Between 1080 prices and G-SYNC, the frontier edition could be considered a worthy investment if you have or are willing to get a FreeSync monitor.
pcpartpicker.com/product/mCH48d/amd-vega-frontier-edition-air-16gb-frontier-edition-video-card-100-506061

>Install Windows 7
>Mouse and keyboard aren't recognised
>Not sure which exact problem this is because the USB ports do work
>Only have ps/2 keyboard
>Only some of the keys work on it

What do? Is this a driver issue from the mobo or is it some Windows 7 driver? I know the USB ports work because I just used one to install Windows. The mouse still lights up when I plug it in, but the pointer doesn't move and the keyboard doesn't seem to be recognised at all, not even a num lock light. I've tried it without the ps/2 keyboard plugged in too and that made no difference either.

So I'm new to building PCs and planning on saving up to upgrade my horrid 4 year old laptop. For RAM: is it better to have multiple smaller RAM cards or fewer bigger RAM cards? (like 4x 4gb cards vs 2 8gb cards). I'm looking to build a gaming PC that can run most games at the moment at medium graphics at highish FPS (atleast get around 50-60fps most times) and looking for the cheapest options and don't care about over the top performance.

>building a high end gaming pc in 2018
>cheap

Lol.

wanted a vega 56/64. That's totally out the window now unless something crazy happens with all the altcoins. the vega fe seems to keep floating around because its marketing as a quasi workstation card.

Maybe something like this? I wouldn't go for Asrock but it would be closer to the budget
pcpartpicker.com/list/Tr72QV

More memory slots means more bandwidth if you have the channels to support it. For most CPUs out there you won't get returns by buying more than 2 sticks.

just said not high end. Don't think I'll even get a GPU for now since the games I want good fps in aren't too graphically demanding. Also I don't mind """cheap""" stuff. My budet would be like 700-900 CAD
