I broke my laptop screen so I picked up the cheapest monitor I could find in the meantime, which didn't have an HDMI in, so I had to buy a VGA/HDMI adapter, but the picture on the monitor is pretty garbage. Anyone know how to fix that?

I have a question on a friend's behalf since i tried to find a solution and couldn't find fuck all.
A friend of mine bought a 144hz display recently (LG 24GM77, one I also have) and can't manage to get it to work at designated refresh rate at 1080p, 60hz being the limit. He's using a HDMI 2.0 cable (we also tried my DP), which theoretically should work fine (his GPU is a 980, so it does support 2.0). Mine works flawlessly with an RX480 and Windows 10, but he's on 7, but considering it's a display from 2014, this shouldn't be an issue. The only drivers availabl for it are for Windows 10, even though it supports it from get go.
Is there something dumb we're missing?

Maybe for you, it isn't hassle free if it requires a Google account + login. I've used VNC and stuff before, all this sort of application really needs is a PIN. Piping the functionality through Google's motherbrain just seems like more evil skynet tier garbage. I hope the people at Google that force all this kind of spy shit lose everything they own due to security fraud or something

Did you try literally reading the words on the screen? I know this is a pretty complicated task, since the log is multiple sentences long and most computer users find it too difficult to even read the "OK" and "Cancel" labels on buttons to find out what they do. But I believe in you user.

Most email providers' apps are either shit or botnet, and if you have email accounts from multiple separate providers it turns into an incompatible clusterfuck
On android, I suggest K-9 Mail.
Using any app is more convenient than opening a browser and going to email provider's website.
If you're using gmail, might as well go for the gmail app, since you're already in the botnet, so you can use all available features google offers

Something made a pop noise followed by a burning smell in my pc. It reset but won't post now, keeps resetting after a few seconds. The power supply turns on and runs by itself with the paper clip trick but keeps resetting with even just mobo, CPU and HSF connected.
