I don't know if it's either because our water service is a shit or because of what people used to do when people got dehydrated way back when (drinking water with salt assuming you wouldn't lose as much).

Either way is annoying. We have to replace the faucets every year or so because the salt keeps corroding the metal and it just looks gross.
