Opera is my default browser. It has been for a long time. Opera is literally better by such a long jump.

Made the decision to switch from Mozilla to Opera sometime 2017. Best decision I've made in my whole life.

Opera has always been my go to browser, things were a bit iffy back when they went with Blink, but they added back most of the missing features, and they have brand new ones that are quite useful such as sidebar chat.
What role does Opera fill?
If you're worried about botnet, you're going to use Firefox, or a Firefox fork, or some obscure browser, generally anything except Opera.
If you're not worried about botnet, why on earth wouldn't you use Chrome, which is the fastest, best supported browser out there?

It doe not have a garbage UI, and it has access to 90% of all Chrome's extensions, and obviously is faster and better at rendering.

-built in adblock that tells you how many websites have been blocked that on that website, day, that week, that month, that year, how many ads you have ever blocked (and I have gotten 2 or 3 ads since I have started using Opera a FEW YEARS AGO)

Opera is kinda shit, but offers slightly more privacy. If you want real privacy though either do not use the Internet at all or just run Tor. If you find Tor to be too slow, I guess just run Brave instead, but it will not be quite as secure.
Opera is actually pretty nice, was my browser of choice for a while before it got bought out by Chinamen
My personal reasons for using current Opera are the energy saving mode and it being less resource greedy than Chrome or Firefox (or Edge).
Its adblock is kinda shit and breaks some sites.
My main browser is still Chrome, but on work, I'm also using Opera.
I'm a huge fan of Opera 12 but sadly it's nigh unusable in the modern Internet.

Now FF can't even do the stuff I used to used it for so there's no point in going back even though it caught up in speed finally.

It might be the true successor to Opera, but it's so fucking slow and buggy that it's unusable. Every fucking update completely breaks the UI and you have to do a full reinstall, losing everything.

The best browser for this old hardware for me is the new firefox, shit is snappy and Responsive as fuck.

That's weird. I have a 4700HQ laptop and with Firefox, my fans spin up a lot, temps are high as shit. With Chrome, the pages render a lot faster, and the Javascript parser seems to be decades faster.
I think Firefox is on the right track with their layout engine now, as in the pages feel the same, but the JavaScript engine is very outdated/slow compared to V8 and they really have to fix that shit.
I'm on windows, like 5 tabs (+soundcloud, youtube playing), and the cpu is just "meh" resting at 31celsius
