God tier lyricism

>listening to rapists

If you start with Long Drive, every subsequent album is of a slightly lower quality than the last with the largest gap between M&A and Good News.

imo M&A > LCW > Long Drive

It's all subjective when it comes to the first 3 albums

COWBOY DAN

Building Nothing is my favorite album of all time

Also, controversial opinion ahead: Good News is just as good as their earlier works. Yes, it's quite a lot different, but I still think it's fantastic.

We Were Dead is great for listening to a few songs from, but a bit grating as a full album

Strangers was great and I'm not budging from that opinion

When will the meme of Long Drive being better than LCW and M&A end? I don't even think it's better than Good News.

>Strangers was great
OPEN UP THE WINDOW

LCW is the classic, but damn if Long Drive doesnt continue to grow on me. It boggles my mind that a gang of 18 year old, pissed off Washington rednecks made such a dynamic and creative rock record.

Its always the little shit that keeps getting to me
>the lower-volumed screams in the background of Beach Side Property
It sounds incredible, who the hell smothers screams and throws them in the background? Rad as fuck.

spitting venom is one of their best songs.

true

I've never seen this be discussed

>The Whale Song
>Perpetual Motion Machine
>King Rat

all goat

Album title so cringe-inducingly stupid that no one wants to discuss the music

The breakdown at the end of that song is the only really memorable part of that album

The lead melody memorably awful.

My favorite Modest Mouse album isn't even a Modest Mouse album.

TLCW is my favorite

Basically The Lonesome Crowded West's slightly more reserved little brother is the Moon and Antarctica, which has feelsier songs, which is why the former will forever be a better album than the latter.

How about most underrated songs from each album?

>Long Drive
Novocain Stain
>TLCW
Polar Opposites
>BNOS
A Life Of Artic Sounds
>TM&A
Lives
>Good News
One Chance
>We Were Dead
Parting Of The Sensory
>Strangers
Pups To Dust

add guilty cocker spaniels to that list. that ep is probably the most consistently great thing they've released since m&a, and it's all outtakes. i don't understand isaac.

posting tru patrish mm

besides a life of artic sounds and one chance that could be a list of fan favorites

>Long Drive
Tundra/Desert
>LCW
Convenient Parking or Lounge (Closing Time)
>Building Nothing Out Of Something
haven't seen this album discussed enough to really know underrated, but Workin' On Leavin' The Livin' or A Life of Artic Sounds
>The Moon and Antarctica
Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes
>Good News
One Chance or Satin In A Coffin
>WWD
Fly Trapped In A Jar
>Strangers to Ourselves
none, all the worthwhile songs are acknowledged.

But I thought Sup Forums loved swans

I think you mean the largest gap is between Good News and We Were Dead.
Good News is definitely not as good as their work before that but it's still a great album. It's a 7/10 at best.

We Were Dead is better than Good News

Wish they would at least play some of the songs live.
Things I don't remember and Parasites are some of my favorite songs from him
