I know it was somewhat popular in some eastern european countries, really curious about it. Pic related.

I had a Russian friend on Interpals tell me that our soaps were really popular there.
hell no
hell yes, cattle king was my favourite by far, the clon was GOAT as well
Literally what
People here are all obsessed with dark dramas and profane comedies
nice last digits
brazilian soap operas have lost popularity to narco (colombia + USA) soap operas
but damn how i fapped to some of them
youtube.com
We had GOAT soap operas back then. Look at this lineup.
youtube.com
I miss those times. It helped me a lot with my early dates, kek.
yes
that's when everything started to go wrong actually
fuck you Manoel Carlos
Esperança was shit and a huge flop.
Many years ago (in the '80s) there was one extremely popular Brazilian TV series about Isaura, a slave who loved a slaveowner Leoncio. The main actress was a star here. There was also another popular soap opera Ciranda de Pedra, but that's probably all, at least these are the only series I heard about.
>brazilian soap operas have lost popularity to narco (colombia + USA) soap operas
Also this
>Isaura
here, pic
there was a shittier christian remake in 2005. don't watch it, it has no nudes
I liked O Clone, Mulheres Apaixonadas and Laços de Senpaiília.
Pretty sure some of you will remember:

But yes, since then it was downhill. Can't believe Globo didn't reinvent itself. They should've invested on series too.
That's nice. I knew Isaura was very famous in other places.
>Isaura
Muh feels, i even read the novel in school in the class of portuguese, so I knew the end of the show before it ends, kek
I fucking hate Carolina Dieckmann.
They tried, but Brazilians are plebs who don't wanna see more sophisticated plots. Their production values are great, though.
the funny or cute about Isaura is that it's a 1976 soap opera, yet we all watched it in the mid 80s. was it a rerun? that i don't know
>O Clone
the cool about Glória Perez is that she always adds scientific ethics (De Corpo e Alma, Barriga de Aluguel) or foreign countries (América, Salve Jorge) in her stories. in The Clone she added both, it was white a superproduction
>Brazilians are plebs who don't wanna see more sophisticated plots.
This isn't true vira-lata. That's why people nowadays cling to foreign series instead of retarded soap operas which are far from the quality the had years ago.
who the fuck cares about sophisticated plots, i wanna see SEX
Yes, The Clone was the only soap operat that I watched in my whole life desu
The target audience of Globo novelas isn't the same audience who watch foreign series.
who watches Globo anymore?
last time i checked they cut usual shows for football matches
>the funny or cute about Isaura is that it's a 1976 soap opera, yet we all watched it in the mid 80s
same here
I realised that it's based on a novel only recently when I started to learn Portuguese
Oh, there was another series Sinhá Moça, I guess that our state TV bought it because it had that actress from Isaura, just like Ciranda de Pedra
2-3 decades ago were quite popular here among staying-at-home middle aged women.
Try fucking from time to time instead, maybe that works better
EVERYBODY watched Globo soap operas back then, what are you talking about? What happened is that their quality fell hard and there are better products out there.
>yet we all watched it in the mid 80s.
It's not from my time, so I don't really know.
>cool about Glória Perez
Afaik, O Clone was her masterwork. The rest seem bland in comparison.
It is until today, my favourite
They have a recent huge novela, Eta Mundo Bom. It ended this month and was their biggest success in years.
>Brazilian soap
No, actually Mexican drama is more popular here, or used to be.
I only watch the ones that run later at night nowadays like Verdades Secretas and Felizes para Sempre, though I'm not sure I'd call them soaps as much as just series.
I wouldn't know.
It seems to me that only things in netflix are popular among my normie friends.
>EVERYBODY watched Globo soap operas back then
Because people didn't have another alternative. Today we have cable and internet.
best girl
she's doing movies now. qt as f
Looks like Frauke Petri in young.
How do they compare to Mexican soap operas?
Forgot Xica Da Silva, that was a hell of a soap opera, I was umderaged the first time it was here and mum didn't allow me to watch it, kek
Mexican novelas are a lot cheaper and much more dramatic. There are more non-white actors in Brazilian ones too.
>I knew Isaura was very famous in other places.

I see, I hate the ones in here, I should check one from your country.
daaaaaym
>Caminho das Indias
>no designated shitting streets
Good thing I didn`t browse Sup Forums back then
My favorite.
>Pecado Mortal flopped hard
Fucking plebs. Picasso was based and it also had a 10/10 intro: youtube.com
best of Duas Caras
ugly but classic
Nothing beats Terra Nostra. God only knows how many tears I shed while watching this.

Did you guys get to watch Império ?
Andréia Horta a qt and it showcased Mt. Roraima which is imo one of the most beautiful places in the country. I wanna visit the national park someday.
I mentioned it, but I translated the tittle to english desu
>/housewives/
Ana Paula Arósio is my waifu.
I was still young when it aired but it was pretty big.
>when Matteo asks Tizio if someone painted him black
dieck man
lol
it's like dyke man and dick man haha
Best one.
Shhh user, we're all big and manly guys here, I swear
I've never heard of them. Sounds interesting but I doubt I'll be able too find a dubbed or subtitled version if they are dated.
what about avenida brasil?
NINAAAA
Arósio is gorgeous. The only ones I actually enjoyed were Terra Nostra, Clone, A Casa das Sete Mulheres and Rei do Gado, respectively. Clone was a total mindfuck, masterpiece novel. Pic related is how Khadija looks like today, btw.
The smaller ones like Carga Pesada, Beijo do Vampiro and Chocolate com Pimenta were also pretty good.
daaamn beijo do vampiro bring back a lot of memories
>A Casa das Sete Mulheres
Morte ao Império, longa vida à República Riograndense. :)
That scene when they burned the flag of the Empire, so many feels. Amazing novel, it was the first and last time in Brazilian television when they made something actually decent about Southern Brazil.
youtube.com
there was o tempo e o vento recently, i didn't watch it but i heard it was good
Empire of Brazil btfo

I've fapped to her a trillion times like 10 years ago
Yep,she also seems to have aged really well

Greek sounds so much like spanish, it's weird
No. Only third worlders watch that crap.
I recall some brazilian/portuguese low-tier stuff being shown at some point
Otherwise it's mostly spanish and turkish soap operas
