Maybe mpv will finally be used by more people than weebs.
Joseph Morgan
What if I just don't update mpv?
It's not like they're adding or fixing anything important anyway. My playback is already perfect, all my formats are supported, what do I even need?
Hudson Phillips
speed improvements? better rendering? bug fixes?
Ryder Young
>better rendering What better rendering? >speed improvements Already playing back 4k breezy. >bug fixes When I encounter a bug, I'll let you know.
Jose Lee
My point is that you're not losing anything by updating, there's no reason not to (other than being lazy).
Gavin Foster
you're not gaining anything by updating, there's no reason to do it.
Lincoln Morris
I don't want bloat.
Jacob Hill
Interesting mpv changes since 0.28.0: - Huge Vulkan improvements and refactoring, including async transfer and compute. You might not think you need performance or efficiency enhancements, but they always help if you're multitasking, and they they help with battery life on laptops. - Workaround for the x264 4:4:4 bug. You will probably encounter files that appear broken without this fix. - Improvements to the demuxer cache, which mean you can now see cache ranges in the seek-bar on the OSC - Stability improvements for HTTP streaming - General updates to the youtube-dl hook. Some streaming sites might break without these fixes. - Rudimentary support for UHD dumps - Improvements and refactoring to HDR peak detection, which is now enabled by default and gives noticeably better results for HDR content
And other things, plus a ton of refactoring which will probably support future improvements. The problem is, a video player is a moving target because it always has to play the latest memes that the industry is shitting out, like HDR video, UHD discs and new streaming protocols. There will always be room for valid improvements to mpv because it always has to play modern video.
Nathaniel Wright
>hmm wonder what version i am running >.\mpv --veersion >mpv 0.18.1-git-1e00bcc Not a single fuck.

God I love the devs

mpv 0.29 stable when
Jason Nelson
>>Maybe mpv will finally be used by more people yeah, because that alwasy leads to better things right?
Connor Cox
Probably not before FFmpeg 3.5 is released. Most people don't even have mpv 0.28.0 yet.
Evan Foster

as soon as normans get into mpv, mpv will die. normans destroy everything.

profile=opengl-hq/gpu-hq does it work at all? because I honestly don't see any difference
Colton Perry
>because I honestly don't see any difference don't use it then (seriously)
Gabriel Taylor
mpv is free as in freedom. If you don't like it, fork it.
Luke Flores
>fork it >mpv cash
Jackson Lee
The only thing that keeps me on MPC is the Blusky/AMD Fluid Motion compatibility.
Is there a way to frame interpolate using the GPU in mpv?
the middle one is the smoothest, but actually it distorts the image
the other ones are blockier, but are more faithful to the image
Zachary White
I switched to stable when they made some ffmpeg-mpv fork and required that for their build.
It's not like there's any real difference besides meme shader and vulkan support.
Ryan Wilson
how's vulank support on windows?
Caleb Howard
>implying weebs use this garbage "command line" player MPC-HC + madVR has always been the Sup Forums master race.

can somebody explain what prescalers are to a brainlet?

Does the mpv-web script work on OS X?
I've placed the .lua script in my scripts folder but the webm fails to encode
Christian Morgan
>using mpv >not ffplay Top plebs. You cannot beat the bloat-free ffplay interface and keyboard controls.
Colton Parker
I couldn't figure out how to make it work with display scaling since it shits the bed if you don't have a poverty-tier low dpi screen
David Jenkins
What version are you using? mine is from september, doesn't look like there is any noticeable issue with scaling though. There is the issue with subtitles on the other hand, even though I wouldn't exclude it could be unrelated to ffplay, since it doesn't report any errors about subs in console and even lists the subs filename and format correctly.
Julian Garcia
>finally put in effort to bulid mpv >no sound or ytdl just fuck my shit up
Wyatt Evans
CCCP has always been Sup Forums's choice, yes I know, they're fucking retarded.
Sebastian Lewis
What if mpv is actually showing the correct gamma and MPC-HC is fucking things up? Is your monitor calibrated to correctly judge picture differences between players?
Thomas Gonzalez
How much time until chromecast support? VLC already has it
Does anyone know how to trigger HDR on a TV using MPV ? The colors all look washed out and it doesn't activate on my TV.
Chase Scott
You can't...
Justin Martinez
At least half of Sup Forums uses mpv.
Gabriel Carter
Is your tv hdr? If yes use this lines in your conf file: target-prim=bt.2020 target-trc=auto You also have to tweak some settings in your GPUs driver.
Kayden Price
Do you know it's automatic with madVR?
Carson Barnes
Your TV is not HDR.
Jose Howard
I use MPV because using the CLI makes me a hacker like hackerman. Also, everyone in my vape club uses MPV while drinking PBR and wearing a fedora.
Aiden James
Yes my TV is HDR, and I can play HDR content fine from other sources. I'll try the config lines when I get back home, thanks.
Sebastian Sullivan
Are you on the newest version? Windows?
Julian Stewart
I'm on the lastest build and I am on Windows 10 (latest version too I guess).
Jace Bennett
where do I find a list of mpv_options to add in when I build it? sorry I'm new just switched from windows to debian
Carter Ramirez
>CCCP has always been Sup Forums's choice Maybe five fucking years ago. No one recommends or uses that now.
Hunter Hill
Looks to me like you chose an output renderer for mpv that uses vmr9 which is the reason for the limited color range problem in VLC, or you set the color range yourself. Point is it's a configuration issue. You can configure mpc-hc the same, not that you'd want to.
Mason Anderson
I downloaded the autoload.lua file. I want to make mpv play the next file in the current file's directory when I press skip to next or previous file. I'm not sure where to put this file so that mpv will behave liks this automatically. On windows.
Jordan Ward
Load the entire directory. Drag the folder into mpv or open it from the terminal.
Michael Turner
But I'm too lazy to drag the entire directory in.
Ethan Turner
I don't use madvr so I really can't tell you.
Nathan Torres
How does mpv-qt compare to mpc-hc?
Kayden Lewis
make a folder called scripts in the same place as mpv.exe
Joseph Reyes
does mpv stand for mpv plays videos ?
Matthew Foster
more pretentious vullshit
Christopher Cox
Are you against config files?
Kevin Smith
Yes, I'm a contrarian.
Grayson Bennett
Doesn't work?

>sissy anime faggot >Fuck the "MUH GUI" brainlets, Edition truly the tranny player
>addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/open-with/ >It works with any program, not just browsers. I want to be able to open videos and stream links from context menu, just don't know what I'd put to have MPV open the linls.
Just downloaded MPV an hour ago. I was trying to find out which of the frontends were more popular, but what's this about GUIs? Is there confirmation of an upcoming GUI update? plsnobully
Actually it looks like it works, it's just that I can only link the video itself.
Is there any way to set this up with video torrents opening in MPV or something?
Kevin Johnson
Isn't vlc the best player ?
Charles Jones
Oniichan, why doesn't mpv have a built-in, finely-tuned, optimized, anime preset? Why do we have to copy/paste bullshit settings from boards to have a decent anime rendering? Why can't mpv devs provide us with a quality, blur-free, preset?
Vanilla MPC-HC can do appropriate color management ootb, you just have to enable it, mpv does proper color management if you enable it But neither does ootb so they show the same image color-wise, that's a troll picture made with mpv's gamma thing that's easy to access since it's keybinded to some number key ootb
Aaron Young
More like 10 years ago, there's plenty of people still using CCCP thanks to reddit or because they installed it 8 years ago and still werks They moved to KCP like in 2011, then people moved to the MPC-HC+madVR+LAVFilters+xysubfilter+reclock, sometime around 2015 consensus broke but most of Sup Forums shits on codec packs and VLC, they do have plenty of mpv users
James Gutierrez
>Fuck the "MUH GUI" brainlets tedious=intellectual? tightening bolts must take all brain power in the world then
Dylan Scott
It's not, you gotta enable it on the monitor menu that madVR has for each of your monitors None of those sources can be boiled down to a single preset if you're looking for sharpeners/fixing broadcast issues/etc. The gpu-hq preset it's pretty much the best you can do for any of those sources Searching the manual for what you want and writing a few small one liners isn't tedious
Lucas Lopez
>one of those sources can be boiled down to a single preset if you're looking for sharpeners/fixing broadcast issues/etc. bullshit. madVR still upscales anime better on my computer.
Christopher Hughes
Perhaps on the shows you're currently watching, but there's plenty of shows that will look worse with whatever config you're using, unless you're one of those retards that love the oil filter/awarpsharp look
