5 months into 2016, post your current pick for AOTY

runner up:
james blake - the colour in anything

tfw best 3 albums of the year were released on one weekend

Pic related is /thread

I don't really care for any of their other stuff either, so this was pretty surprising.

Mine is probably going to be they new RHCP or Swans album when they come out. I haven't really liked much that has come out this year yet

not even memeing

fuck off fantano

...

but why is pleb = me?
I aint done nothin to no one

as a big parquet courts fan, it was nice to see them re-engage their audience with the catchiness they captured early on in their career (first and foremost Light Up Gold) while holding on to some of the noisier elements they developed on their side project (most relevantly Content Nausea, released as "Parkay Quarts).

Human Performance does however represent some of their most forward pop endeavors (for instance One Man No City) while still working within the framework of repetition and straight jangled post-punk most prominently featured in Sunbathing Animal. Human Performance basically amounts to a tour of Parquet Court's best elements while neglecting those that a larger audience might find grating (the reaction given to their more "out there" EP Monastic Living).

I'm not sure I'm ready to call it AOTY, but I did really enjoy it as well.

Was it their "slacker" persona that previously turned you off the band?

...

>see this album
>think it's meme shit
>actually listen to it
>it's fucking outsider improvisational post rock
what the fuck

>not loving the new DG
>haven't rated AMSP 5/5 yet
>2016
>liking RHCP
>listening to a rapist cowboy

...

gtfo posh isolation poseur

sheep is fucking great senpai

>the heavy guitar in track 2
is this the trout mask replica of our generation?

>outsider improvisational post rock

Where have I read this genre description from?

I guess you could say that. It seemed forced.

I do actually like Monastic Living, but I heard that after Human Performance.

>OMINOUS DRUMS AND MICROTONAL HORNS
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS ALBUM

Nice chinglish

but RHCP are gud and I don't even know what 'DG' means. I don't really care for radiohead so I probably wont listen to it

yeah, I can see why you'd say that, their lyrics sometimes come off as a bit over the top in a "college trustfund" kind of way.

if you feel like venturing into the band any further (assuming you didn't dig light up gold or sunbathing animal) you could check out Content Nausea, it's pretty much exactly between Human Performance and Monastic Living.

Nice post

dream theater

two fucking hours of balls to the wall

but that sucked shit through a crazy straw

The only balls in that thing are the balls John Petrucci sucks and the only wall in there is how it's even more shitty than The Wall

example?

first song has bungle style craziness

do you post in every thread or something

>it's even more shitty than The Wall
>being this contrarian
wew lad

I found it to be very cheezy honestly

p much

>waaahhh everyone who doesn't like what i like is contrarian
Go suck horse cock. Oh wait you can't, the horse is too busy jerking himself off. You'll have to wait eighty minutes and then some

But AMSP and BP may overtake in the near future.

ur about to get memed on but it's actually a great album.

i liked pablo a lot the first few times but kind of got tired of it and the version 1.2 shit put me off

...

This is that new funeral doom album that came out early this year right? How good is it?

oh believe me so do i

and you aint seen nuthin if you havent seen the liner notes to this beast holy fuck

remember cheese is a delicacy. It can pungent and often times thats the best.

Sleep Cycle

>your current aoty

well he just said its aoty

?

9/10, I haven't dived into funeral doom much though.

...

He could easily think that every other album this year is dogshit garbage and this is the only thing above a 4/10.

Alright, I should check it out. Seems to be getting lots of praise from everyone on here

But I don't like cheese

dude xylophones lmao

Alright man you check it out. Peace out dude.

>you can make it into blooooooocks

I actually hated it but dream theater is my aoty so you'll probably love it

as I recall it was too "choir"

holy fuck pls stop posting

this forced meme will never catch on

well I dont exactly like it either but its all about objectivity

dream theater blows the absolute fuck out of lycus dont make me fucking laugh holy shit

You mean subjectivity

end this meme

maybe the choice of criteria

if someone wants to simply rail against major scales then I suppose thats their choice but I think its throwing the baby out with the bath water

end your own meme and stop posting buddy

do not make me laugh

chasms has literally no chance against the juggernaut astonishing

What the hell are you going on about? I was correcting you because you mixed up objective and subjective

Life Grips - Finite Mountain

"The Wall fucking sucks" is a popular opinion though. I'm a devoted member.

"no"

I'm saying criteria is subjective

but the assessment of that criteria is objective

>chasms > astonishing
oh I look forward to this trouncing

Yeah well

Well done, good post

admittedly I'm kinda pulling that outta my ass but still

mostly why I stick strictly to rankings and comparisons then avoid ratings like the plague

Yes

Maybe no.1

Yes

A Moon Shaped Pool

You all need to listen to more music if you think Radiopleb's album is in any way a "purfect" album

I also liked A Sailor's Guide to Earth
Have not listened to the Weezer album or the Radiohead one yet, though.

I really wanted to like this, but I just don't. It just doesn't hold up to some of his other stuff.

It has some good tracks, but it's one hell of a mess.

hecker or jebenesm or lines. everything else is small time

Impossible Kid is like a 6/10.

The flows are good but the narrative of the whole album isn't. Where Labor Days had a lot of messages and hidden symbolism, Impossible Kid is just Aesop cryptically talking about his own life, to the point where I had to look up the lyrics to find out what the fuck he was talking about to find it was some thing that happened during his childhood or when some friend of his died in a car accident. I just don't care enough.

link me up pls

...

its on slsk

definitely this

It isn't the best album I've heard, but TFOT making music again pretty much makes it my AOTYAY

Oh fuck, this was so sick

my face when the end of the album loops seamlessly into the start again
