What are your thought on Mark Kozelek's solo projects?

It's a mixed bunch but you can tell from the amount of material he releases, the label he runs and how much he tours that he's more of a working musician now in kind of classical sense. So I expect a lot of the stuff he releases to be shitty but since he is a working artist now it means he'll just keep releasing music and touring regardless of people's reaction to his music.
The early SKM releases were pretty good, Benji was great and even the collaborative albums he does now are cool. The rest is very forgettable but kind of exciting in its own way because since he is now dedicated to just recording music and exploring different ideas with other artists it means he's disciplined enough to strike gold again just like he did on Benji even if the next two albums aren't remarkable at all.
I'm glad he decided to record under a different name to RHP though, since it doesn't tarnish that band's branding and name at all and he's still able to go in this much more general folky direction that he started going down on Ocean Beach, since the first three albums are where it was at with RHP.
So overall good, I'm glad Mark is still going.
