How do I make money off my CS degree without working for Mr. Shekelstein?

How do I make money off my CS degree without working for Mr. Shekelstein?

Working is agony when it's not for myself.

make stuff that's really good and sell it

How do I find something to make!!

I have no ideea desu, if you ever had an ideea for something that'd make your life a lot easier on PC then try to implement that if there's not alrdy something that does it better than you could.
Go to competitions of sorts with it if you can register, they give hefty prizes to students in my country, last year someone got an 1k euro laptop 1st place for a space shooter Unity game.

Make your own startup about GNU+Dragon Dildos

Go to freelance websites and make $5 per project.

>I want a full PHP solution for a forum, a frontend and a gui for the backend
>all done by this monday
>I'll pay you $5
That sort of stuff. If you don't accept it, tons of third-worlders will.

Now get the hell out.

Make some good software for the private system, like... I dunno. Something for subway stations?
Now, instead of just selling them the license, grab them by the balls. Sell a monthly "support" too.

Bang, you're made for years.

Of course, you need some way to sell this to them first. Good luck.

That's a good idea. I should try to network into that.

>Sudo deluser wife
>Sudo deluser daughter

Third worlder here, they'll gladly pay $500 for something like this. And you might even get away with doing it with bbPress.

Make things and sell them online. My brother makes custom microcontroller-based things. He makes decent money on stupid normies. We are also slavs so we don't even pay taxes.

Make a (good) game and sell it on steam or IOS.

Make games senpai

Make furry porn games. Not even joking.

Just make anything. Make something short and stupid. Something easy. Make an app that when you push a button it makes a fart sound. Then have a library of sounds, some of which are premium. Then make a fart meter. You rig it up so when you push a button, the phone "sniffs" the air and tells you how bad the fart is. Really it's some other variable from a sensor or just random. Just start doing it. It doesn't need to be great, or even good, or even not totally shitty. But not doing anything is fail. The best photographers get the best shots because they take a phenomenal number of shitty pictures. Same with programming.

Why not work freelance? Even if Mr. Shekelstain needs your work at least you won't be his slave

Mr shekelstein?

it's Sup Forums for manager. Sup Forums wants to be their own porky

>no man's sky

The greedy Jew.

work for a startup

>studies mr. goldstein's programming for beginner goys
>goes to the goim factory to pay out the ass to get a degree which only leads to working for the (((man)))
>"uh gee how do i avoid the jew????"

No no, my degree was free and covered by scholarships

Like hell I would pay for such a thing.

>he thinks getting a stem degree is not automaticly bending over for mr.steinberg in the beginning

I enjoy programming, I got a degree in a thing I enjoyed because it seemed fun.

I fail to see how this is bending over for noseberg.

Would you suggest a different degree?

You sound so hatable my man. You need some real perspective or experience on life or you are really young (

why even get a degree ?
from what i know most places dont care what your degree is in , but they mostly care if you have one (or one in the field)
The fact that you dont know what you want to do after completing a 3-4 year degree really shows how much though you put into your future

>be me
>don't have any fucking money
>don't go to college
>become cert whore
>work doing systems/dev for about 8 years
>can't fucking take it anymore
I should've been a contractor or something, all I've succeeded in is beating the fun out of my hobby and getting jewed even harder up a tax bracket or two.
Plus working in an office is worse than high school. At least I had friends in high school.

Don't forget you're liable for damages if you get anywhere near trains in yuropoor.

I don't know why you'd ever want to go into tech industry after getting a cs degree

Were you not exposed to cool stuff you would never apply (

Learn how to live on a tight budget.
Take odd jobs to cover living costs.
Then go build tools that make your life easier.
Then sell access to them to people like you.

I wish I knew, little girl. I never realized how terrible wageslaving is and I've no energy to invest into improving myself to get out of it

Move it up, dumb weeb.

I'll do this.

I made a program that simulates gravitational interaction between various bodies.
How do I sell it?
Also, how do I change it into an exe file?

You're doing fine. Dont get greedy or you'll hate your job cause ''I wan moar money''.

By now you lack an interface, also would be nice the real deal if it was 3D. There are already some software well known in the scientist community for physics simulations but only 2D as far as I remember.

It is 3D in the sense that they behave like they were in a 3D space, but the graphically they still look like mere circles

pic related is a variant that simulates interactions between + and - charges

Here's an idea, I want a widget that's a topographic map. It has to be a widget because I want it to go on a home screen next to some kinda messenger widget so I can see both at once.

Maybe it already exists and I just haven't looked hard enough.

Or you can just make games, but you won't get rich unless the game play is something never before seen and you fail to attract the autist crowd. At any rate, here's an idea based on a dream I had last night, make what is basically mirrors edge with randomly generated highly vertical archetecture. Put in some sequences where you have to shoot at something as a goal to stop or destroy the growth while something is chasing you.

>without working for Mr. Shekelstein

Why? There's nothing more comfy that working for someone else. You don't have to think, you have no responsibilities. You're just told to do something and do it. Simple, easy, can take your time.
I really enjoy being a junior developer, I don't wanna become a senior and gain responsibilities and have to direct people. I just wanna go to work, do my work, go home and be free.

You're not free Goldberg.

Think of something that needs to be done, or something that needs improvement or something that someone needs but they don't know they need it.

>always rember, necessity is the mother of all inventions

Make shit like flappy bird.. You will drow in money.

The age of copy-pasting flash games and calling them new is over sadly.
>just bee yourself bro XD

Indeed, he's not free to destroy the company with his decisions. Oh, the oppression!

I guess just keep trying different things and sell the things I use to solve problems.

If you arent creative enough to come up with something you cant be an entrepreneur, not being able to work under someone either means you have a personality defect or just extremely selfish.

I'm not going to give up.

Any good with AI, user?

What if I said "I have a master's degree in deep learning from the most well-known lab in DL"?

if you think this is something that has any commercial value at all I have a bridge to sell you
there are commercial orbital dynamics software, but they use state-of-the-art numerical methods, have complex physical models, have an user interface with a shit ton of obscure features, and so on
you really need to be in the aerospace industry to know what they are looking for, and then a marketing department or connections to get them to buy it from you for tens of thousands of dollars
with your program maybe if you improved the graphics you could make 500 bucks on the app store selling it as a screensaver or a shitty game, nothing more

>Go to freelance

instead of working for mr shekelstein who will release you at 5pm, you will work for mrs stacey who will call you at 9pm complaining about the world wide web being down

I RECOGNIZE THAT HENTAI LOLI

please share user

I think I'm going to open my own cybersecurity firm and make money off people I meet through my mother's connections. Thanks guys.

Call it Allsafe.

>Working is agony when it's not for myself.
Welcome to life. If you're actually smart, you could get a PhD and work in interesting things (after going through grad school hell) for a living. If you're a brainlet, you're pretty much stuck with shekelstein

How do I get into a PhD program after a few years in the field?

Why would you do something lame like that when you could instead be writing software that lets you use a 2 in 1 laptop as a monitor/keyboard/mouse/usb hub for desktops so I can play games with the graphics maxed out in any room of my house?

Do you have a master's degree? If not you have to go for one. Some schools have acceleration programs from master's to phd. If so, take them: there is exactly no point in having a master's without a phd, and you'll waste less time and money going straight for one.
Shop around for a prof who's well-reputed and also works on problems that specifically interest you. Don't be afraid to travel to the other side of the state if necessary. Brand recognition, sadly, matters a lot. This means both the school in meaningless rankings that don't correctly account for field specificity when looking for a job, and the prof within the specific field when looking for post-doc or other academic positions.
Master's thankfully rarely if ever require recommendations, but most phd programs will ask that you give 2-3 recommendation letters.
In either case your grades as an undergrad will matter.

I'm in Canada and have a fairly high GPA for Canada.
I guess I'll look into schools a bit more. The states would probably be a better option if I can afford it.

Also keep in mind that application dates are very far from the session start date. For a PhD you usually apply between september and december for the fall semester of the next year (i.e. basically a whole year in advance). MSc applications have a smaller period but are still pretty far off. You should check if it's even still open for fall 2018 MSc's, it might not be.

What do you mean high GPA for Canada? Are Canadian GPA standards higher or lower?

Canadian GPA standards are higher. I had a 92% average (not sure what that is in GPA) and class averages were generally around 55-65%

That exists, it's called Steam in home streaming.

>Reach the age where you graduate college (early 20s)
>Finally come to an understanding of the workings of an economy (e.g. working fucking sucks)
>Finally find the path away from the Jew
>Gets bullied by this faggot

Fuck off.

Thanks for the encouragement. I think I know what I'll do now.

I know security pretty well so I'm going to try starting my own company doing SOMETHING in computer security, and if that fails I'll apply in the fall for a PhD in the field.

Now that I think about it probably nobody will hire me without a ton of certs...

Sell CDs with FOSS software kits to your local engineer/architect/surveyor studios and also to business consultants, you must provide remote technical support though, like free for the first month or something like that to make it appealing.
You will definitely find interested people because proprietary professional software licenses for this kind of businesses costs thousands euros/dollars and 90% of the time people who buy them don't even use all features.
Make the prices high enough for you to earn a living but also for them to be convenient.
Don't just put random installers on the discs like a retard, make a nice-looking auto-run interface, maybe add some introduction videos as well, you can surely find CC-licensed presentations on youtube, otherwise just make your own presentations if you got time.
Needless to say, the discs must look professional, use lightscribe or printed adhesive plastic labels, keep that in mind for the CD case too.
For starters, you can leave presentation pamphlets about your discs in said studios' mail boxes.

tl;dr sell FOSS and be creative about it.

Part of me thinks this is kind of cucked, but it's also relatable. There are situations where I've been a leader with no real issues, but it is relaxing in a way to know exactly what you have to work on and just being free to work hard on it and know your next task will be prepared by someone else. It feels more efficient.

Depends. Some people also steer clear of people with a lot of certs. They're known as 'paper dragons'. Often times you can get your employer to pay for your certs, so if you can just get hired somewhere in the first place, the certs can come later.

Stop watching anime

It's more that I want to start my own thing doing pentesting or security analysis, but nobody would want me without certs (I think).

I could target startups maybe but that's all I can think of.

> as a screensaver
that might be an idea...
but how do I change it into a screen saver?

You can always do what I did and become a GPU miner. Oh wait, no you can't because people like me drove up GPU prices. Sorry about that.
