So? Just get a webdev job.

I don't to be a filthy webdev peasant. I want to build the inner workings of something, not fiddle with the layout and buttons of some shitty webpage

backend?

Yes, but if I could choose I wouldn't want to mess with web at all, neither frontend or backend. But indeed, i'm way more ok with backend web dev than frontend, but in this shithole of a country(Brazil) most employers want full stack devs.

SOPA

There are more webdev jobs than there are non-webdev programming jobs.

And do not be a fool! Millions of people are desperate for work, but have no skills. Webdevs are in EXTREMELY high demand!

You are just proving my point you retard

Then just do it, just don't expect to get paid for something no one wants from you.

>filthy webdev peasant
Only way you'll be happy is to stop guzzling memes and just make things. Have you done any webdev to justify this attitude?

>Have you done any webdev to justify this attitude?
No, but HTML/CSS and all those shitty JS frameworks disgust me
I want to build shit using programming logic, not just putting lego pieces together

>"I don't want to make money because i'm a autistic fatfuck"

Kys

Then code at home and live on the dole, precious babby. Only peasants need to get paid.

You don't need to work for anyone to code.

lol, you are too dumb to change webdev from the inside and mold it to your liking, lego is too advanced for you

so then write your own framework/language/database and displace all these scrubs who just throw together bullshit using MySQL/PHP/Angular, there is still plenty of room for innovation, also if you are a backend developer you can easily get into a situation where you never have to look at HTML

I don't want to build web stuff, I want to do work in other areas, even mobile seems more interesting.

>also if you are a backend developer you can easily get into a situation where you never have to look at HTML
A pure backend dev is rare in Brazil, most codemonkeys here are full stack.

Yeah, but I want to make money.

>I want $$$
>But... I do not want to work in a job that I have skills for, that is in demand, and that makes lots of $$$
Some people are born retards. Some willingly lower themselves into retardation.

I want to work with something that I enjoy, I don't enjoy fiddling with HTML, is this so hard for you to understand you retarded tripfaggot?

Suit yourself.

Trips are gay. But you're being deliberately difficult, and therefore a retard. Go fuck off and code Prolog or Haskell then you whinny shit.

> I want to do work in other areas, even mobile seems more interesting.

Mobile is horrible, probably worse than webshit, with it you are stuck sucking the teat of Apple/Google while they fuck everything up

Yeah I get it you want to solve real engineering problems rather than figuring out how to get 1% more people to click on ads. Try getting a government job?

>Going in CS to write scripts

Drop all that CS bullshit and go herd some sheep or grow tomatoes... That's what I'll probably do.

Just become a web dev already faggot. One day you will grow up and realize that "passion" is the biggest meme of all, used just to sucker idealistic kids like you into pretending you're happy with a bullshit job, and all jobs consist of doing bullshit you don't care about for somebody else (even if you're self employed), so you might as well get one that pays well.

How do you know you don't enjoy webdev if you've never done any? It sounds like you're in love with the idea of programming but are not able to program anything practical.

CS is not about programming, retard

It pretty much is. That's like saying engineering isn't about physics

More like the other way around

>not able to program anything practical.
Dude I already coded some personal projects, and web dev is nothing like it.

Whatever, I should have pursued another carreer.

>I already coded some personal projects
like what?

You have a problem with authority, Mr. Anderson. You believe that you are special, that somehow the rules do not apply to you. Obviously you are mistaken. This company is one of the top software companies in the world because every single employee understands that they are part of a whole. Thus if an employee has a problem, the company has a problem. The time has come to make a choice, Mr. Anderson. Either you choose to be at your desk on time from this day forward or you choose to find yourself another job. Do I make myself clear?

>too old to switch to engineering
that's an excuse and you know it

But you said you never did anything in webdev, so what makes you think you wouldn't enjoy it?

A full fledged trojan/botnet when I was an underage scriptkiddie
Some small games with SFML/SDL
Some web scrappers so I can automate my porn downloading
A chat parser and stats analyzer
IRC/Telegram bot
Lots of small scripts about random stuff

I'm already 23 and 2~3 more years to finish the CS program

I have a pretty good notion about how it is, its shit.

Okay, they why don't you apply to companies that do things related to web security or games, since that seems to what you're interested in?

If you had the skills and passion to do such things, you would have done it already.
Just become a web dev underachieving faggot.

As long as you can financially care for yourself, getting a degree under 30 years old is fine I'd say.
23 is not too old. Maybe for CS where they really seek young people, but engineers don't have to be young.

you are on the wrong side of history. web based applications dont have to worry about what kind of toaster the user has and the nightmare of getting lazy ass people to update

I will try, but its discouraging when the market is so skewed towards web.

para de passar vergonha por favor, obrigado

Years of non-cs related jobs has taught me this. I can't wait to get my first well paying cs job, first step is getting an internship (which is fucking difficult).

I don't understand why webdev is so looked down upon.

JS has a ton of interessting architectural possibilities. Especially if you consider backend as well.

full-stack development with something like NodeJS & React is a pretty good place to be in my book. You can flavor in some typescript as well.

Sure - working in a big ass company as a code-monkey without any realy options and choices sucks. But that's true no matter what language or architecture you're using.

If that really rustles your jimmies - go join a startup.
As a CS you can pretty much pick and choose and get a nice cut of the company. You can also build up everything from the ground up to your liking.

Sure, you'll have to wrestle some good ol' stylesheet crap on a daily basis - but that's really not as bad as everyone makes it seem - especially if you choose a decent UI framework.

I'm currently coding data visualization stuff in JS and it's the most fun I ever had professionally.

(You)
Hello Pajeet.

Be a chad op I believe in you

Nice quad, shitty comment
>wrong side of history
kek'd

still others tripfag about their ebin malaysia hiring escapades, because they are attention whores and live in shitholes

>I have a pretty good notion about how it is, its shit.
You're a recent grad with no experience, that's highly doubtful. Even if you get into this magical 10% of jobs you think you want, you'll be stuck working on things you hate or don't care about. This kind of bull-headed arrogance is one thing for a veteran with the skills and experience to run his own team doing whatever he wants and can get funding for on reputation alone, but it's downright silly for an entry-level dev.

>I want to build the inner workings of something
That means nothing. Build the inner workings of a web app . By the way you word it you have no idea what web dev is about.
>writes shitty scripts
>thinks web dev is to ez for him

Yeah, thanks for proving my point, you don't realize that web dev isn't just websites. One way or another you will use web related technologies like rest apis and you will use the web if you're doing anything useful .
I wish I didn't listed to g and fucking learned js because there were way too many times when js would've made my life easier. Want to use Firebase , well fuck you , you'll have to use nodejs.

Go live off embedded software you fucking retard , you deserve it.

Because part of the process of learning web development is to suck a hundred cocks.

I applaud you OP in getting all these (You)s but you sound like a ungrateful faggot who's never done a day of work in your life, and you're probably better off in a basement jerking off to writing C for some stupid shit no one will ever care about.
Also, stop thinking memes are real life. You clearly hung around here too much if you thought employers were waiting for you to graduate so they could offer you 300k starting writing C. 9 out of 10 people that know C here are NEETs. So either join their legion, or STFU and make big boy money in web dev.

Do all these pics of crying fluffers make anyone else sad?

>got memed into the cs major
>despise tech
>despise tech industry
>despise programming
>only enjoyed the math
>not the concrete math
>not stats
>just pure math that cs supplied problems for

Is there any hope for me?

Switch to some math major

No standard math major covers the things I want to cover in the depth I want

Just learn by yourself then, its not like shitty professors would teach better than books

Yes. ;__;

>took EE in Canada
>CS market is crap
Startup here I come! Who wants to buy my useless invention!

fuck being programmer:
>working legcy code that is a mess
>impossible deadlines
>shitty estimations
>lack of clear customer vision
> design, ui/ux, qa and sales blames programmer for their incompetents
>people writing shity code under presure and lack of testing/documentation on critical crm software, so now i have to spend 6 hours to write 5 lines of code
>i make sometimes shitty mistakes under pressure and commit not working code, so then i have to spend twice as much time to fix it. Fuck i have to be more tough on pressure.
It's like this almost everywhere, i hate everyday , exept when i have ability to write something good from scratch, that's is really nice feeling.

>the Virgin programmer
>The chad hacker in a non extradition country

Former QA here. You have SHIT QA dudes if they're blaming you for things. Understandable, as QA is the accidental career and most people in it have never touched code before. But they're still asswipes if they outright call or think a Dev is incompetent.

My professors are great! They are way better than books

Hmm, Brazil also has a strong mobile area (I live here as well). If you like cs you could try to learn Xamarin. It is not so hard to learn and the demand of cross-platform apps is increasing.

What's stopping you from persuing the 10%?
Might as well say
>Got memed into CS.
>Realize 99% of the job market is not CS.

OP, I'm in the same boat as you. Started out learning how to program in C and asm years ago, moved on to 3D, always wanted to get into scientific software engineering. Unfortunately didn't make it because I'm not intelligent enough and lacked the discipline during my studies

Stay THE FUCK out of frontend though, you're right in all of your assumptions and misgivings regarding that area. The only thing worse than frontend dev itself is the other frontend monkeys you'll be working with.

Backend on the other hand is fun. It's not as fancy as systems programming or developing numerical simulations, but getting a working, secure, scalable, maybe even distributed enterprise backend up and running without dying due to a million concurrency issues is quite challenging and rewarding. Also other backend engineers are usually also more of the abstract-conceptual type (though the bar is quite low in web dev, as you said)

Also machine learning. Try that, even if it's just as a hobby

Sadly, here in Brazil its few and far between jobs that have a clear distinction between front and backend positions.

Old timer here. I'm moving away from the webdev world into security. It's the one area of IT where being older is a plus as clients feel more secure with a real adult running things.

10 times this
I fucking hate programmers who work for free just because they're too autistic to do anything else with their pathetic lives, spoiling the market for everybody else
>not taking job opportunities just because there are indians who do the same thing

Even embedded these days has some of that IoT webedv tm spice in it.

Mozilla started an initiative recently to make JavaScript the primarty IOT language. Is there any issue those morons can't be on the wrong side of?

>get to senior year in CS
>realize i hate programming
>become consultant
>make 6 figures doing essentially nothing

Sounds like you want to do infrastructure. Look at Infrastructure and/or SRE positions (at companies that do SRE correctly, think Netflix, Google, LinkedIn, Atlassian, Dropbox, Stripe, Uber, etc.)

How does that work?

>College for programming
>Ended up working at UPS from job fair
>Got degree in programming 2 years later
>Never got a computer job
>Kept working at UPS
>Become delivery driver
>Make 100k/year now
>Not stuck in a shitty cubicle
>Not the 350 pound lard ass I would be if I was

Feels good man

Build web apis. Basically all back end.And they're fun to build
Up.

>I don't understand why webdev is so looked down upon.

Sour grapes. They couldn't get a pure backend position, but are also too dumb for frontend work.

>Automated away in 5 years
I want to become a consultant, how do you do it?

>>too old already to switch to some engineering or whatever

You're never too old.

>>Automated away in 5 years
that self-driving car meme is pretty shit, so he shouldn't be worried for 20-30 more years

Yes , I quit life to grow tomato's and prune olive trees. 2 things I love doing. But I stopped loving it , it pays nothing , I should have faked a passion for a good salary job.

Yeah look mate you've got plenty of shit from everyone but I'm going to add to the pile. Your understanding of web dev is likely the equivalent of WordPress dev. You shuffle some buttons around for some dumbass who doesn't appreciate your effort. It's not all like that.

I'm a web developer and i work on security tech. I use JavaScript and work to prevent malicious people from destroying your favorite (or least favorite) websites. I get to analyse data, identify threats and develop mitigation.

What I'm saying is, web dev isn't just wordpress/ecommerce shit, it's a wide industry and you can find something as leet as you want, provided you have the skills.

>I don't to be a filthy webdev peasant.
you're too retarded to even get hired

Beyond html/css/js how do you get a job like that? Sounds interesting.

>how
you have to know more than stupid Sup Forums memes, which judging by your previous posts, i'd say you don't, in case you're OP

learn to weld, it's easy

You replied to me above, but I'm not op and just stumbled upon the thread. That was my first post. I normally lurk elsewhere since there are too many neet autists here who lack ambition and only use their intelligence to outsmart themselves into an aimless life.
