Is he Indian?

Kek'd

>they shutup, but try to accuse us of running shitty hard drives
>whatever poo faggot

I'll have that story for the rest of my life.

Similar

/r/talesfromtechsupport has better stories

Ikr. First thing you should check off is physical connection.

>not even IT but generally know a lot about computers
>our main laptop is a thinkpad with an i7 and windows 7 64bit
>running slow as dirt all the time everyone complains and bitches
>doesnt bother me because I avoid doing that part of work
>IT comes by to look at it to see why its so slow
>they can't figure out why and put in an order for a new PC
>I sigh and just look at it for moment
>check power control and see its set to power saver mode
>turn it to high performance and thing lights up the room with its newly found power
>IT guy is actually the owner's son who tries to act like he knows everything about IT and drives a subaru

You suck at stories. Who was doing what?

Only if something mission critical is going on, otherwise first thing you do is turn it on and off as that is 99% of the time, the fix.

I may have dug a hole at work for myself

Anyway, I don't work from the office and will usually just sit at home and work from my own place. I am allowed to do that but I went in twice this week to the office and people said wtf, why am I not showing up to the office weekly etc... and just working from home

I'm doing this to myself and I have to get back into the office going forward

>>Just sitting here
>>This is part of training

stay safe

They need to hire someone like myself, I'm a consultant on projects like these and work for large companies

Anyway, just noticed your post, send some businesses our way

>I'm tasked with data center install for massive project (not really but its three data centers across the US)
>I'm the lead but they bring another lead with me to assist
>I built everything and he needed to do one thing for me
>He did that thing since I couldn't
>Two months go by
>Maintenance needs to happen one night
>A few devices were rebooted
>Find out few days later after troubleshooting they never saved the configs I asked him to do and he never saved any of it
>Once their (handoff side was rebooted) everything went down on my end
>find out they never saved the configs
>Anyway, they had to trace every cable to find out everything since they couldn't find it
>they blamed me for the cabling, but they didn't even fucking saved the config in the first place!!!
>pic related, they didn't save the configs and had to trace cabling to figure everything out for one simple thing

How. The. Fuck.

This is amazing.

Not that shocking if you think about it. Boomer IT guy sets up server, it's been a long day, he's remoted into an environment and is doing his own thing.

>Boomer
>shit with technology even though its not new
Absolutely shocking. I bet he blames those damn Millennials for it too.

yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck what a nightmare

>>management says that we should work from home if possible
are they hiring?

of all the curry niggers i've met/worked with, i've yet to meet one that would admit to a fault. they will always try to pin it on you.

wow you are so smart have you considered a career in IT?

have you worked in IT before?
my last boss (head of IT) let windows initialize a DVR hdd before handing it to me to see if anything could be gotten off it

senior IT positions is more about who can convince others they can into computer, rather than actually into computer
remember, it's not other IT people who gave him that job

why would a datacentre even offer RAID0?
surely they must have gone out of their way to get it?

I mean...there's always Recuva.

We offered dedicated blades. They had two HD slots. All kinds of RAID and HD/SSD options available.

This is so common. Seriously. We want to be in the cloud because someone or magazine x told me cloud is better and faster. I had one customer choose to move seven physical servers to a cloud workload instead of virtualizing onsite, because cloud, and a new servers are expensive. End result is $3700/mo in costs for cloud and the one process they depend on takes 30 minutes or more and fails at least 50% of the time, on prem it took a minute or two. Look at environment and say for four months of cloud costs you could have replaced those seven servers. The fucking it guy didn't trust virtualization so he was basing this all on buying seven physical servers.

in the end they just got me to fake timestamps on old footage
i don't know exactly what it was for or how legal that was, it's probably better i don't know.

so i suppose they just went "this one has more space and is still RAID, right?"
RAID0 shouldn't really be called raid, since it's not redundant, but whatever, it's not your fault they didn't look it up

That is some shit cabling. Have some fucking pride.

>The fucking IT guy didn't trust virtualization
What the fuck is he doing in IT?

Yeah we have it advertised pretty clear what it is, with pretty diagrams and such on the order page.

But even then, anyone at a managerial level in IT should know about the various RAID levels.

>The fucking it guy didn't trust virtualization

I've run into some of them, and they are the worst. These people are fucking obstinate morons. All of them are the epitome of boomers too.
