would this class as psych?

Hell yeah

obligatory pink floyd meddle
getting into dan deacon can anyone recommend anything?

Have you guys ever heard Jeff Lynne's 60s band the Idle Race? Much better than ELO. Fuck ELO.

Always and forever

I don't do drugs, I'm not a loser

you're a condescending douche bag, now what do you have to say about that?

youtube.com/watch?v=zMQyLw_HEQw

>elo are bad
awful opinion

idle race were just shitty sgt. pepper worship anyway at least elo built upon the beatles

...

Just two hippies beating bongos and strumming guitars. Pretty good, though.

grateful dead and the doors

anyone ever trip to this album? fucking intense

where do deerhunter fit on the psych spectrum?

specifically cryptograms/microcastle/halcyon digest

stop being such a pussy you faggot

I haven't but I've jerked off and came to the ending.

highly recommend that experience

theyre 99 points reddit, 1 point Sup Forums. on the reddit -- 4 chan scal

>tfw you will never slow dance/cuddle with your waifu for the entirety of Midnight Snack

sadness covers me like a blanket, tuck me in, let me die

youtube.com/watch?v=Ez7srdOsPxc

I don't know what this is, and Sup Forums probably doesn't deserve it.

Been trying to get into more psych pop recently. Kishi Bashi, Akron/Family, King Gizzard and the more accessible Flaming Lips albums have all been heavy rotation as of late, any recommendations of what else might sound good to me

...

for psych pop, definitely go with the essentials,
>Mac Demarco
>Homeshake
>Walter TV
>Ty segall/Fuzz (not pop but fuck it)
>Thee oh sees

and congratulations

One time I took too many promethazines and tripped out insanely to fucking Lana del rey

thanks =]

Reminder that the Beatles invented psychedelic music and there's nothing you kids can do about it.

I didn't expect thee oh sees discography to be so big, anywhere you'd recommend starting? or just chronologically?

Of course they did. The Beatles are great. Well, John at least. Paul's for cucks

Mutilator, than fuck around from there.

you guys ever heard of the fugs?

>cucks

Aphrodite's Child - 666

...

Hey by the way if you like animal collective you should try out alvin band

this album is crazy

mmmm yes. this album's a classic. favorite tracks from it?

Free form psych freakouts that lead in and out of every song, and every song is God tier psych. 10/10 would trip again b

Too much psychedelic music is shallow, boring, and nearly meaningless (to me). And there's that awful tendency to layer in clips of old recordings, usually of Alan Watts. There's more to "psychedelic" than:
-It sounds weird like I'm tripping
-It's built on tangential logic that loops on itself and strings together strange objects and stories
-Etc.

Hope this thread yields something good.

>(to me)
Stopped reading right there

Obvious choice is best choice

IF fou didn't smoke pot in high scholl you were a looser and a virgin

Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request.

Not exactly psychedelic rock, but they definitely experimented with some aspects of it.
Really underrated album, too.
>inb4 pitchfork crusade because I used the "u word"

like hotboxing in a car with no A/C by the beach

Anyone into hitech psytrance?

Okay.

Usually I bluntly focus on what I believe to be hard underlying absolutes, and elements that are relatively fixed constants. But you got me, I got lazy and just stuck with the high level "means of perception vary" deal.

Really blew it this time.

>"means of perception vary" deal.
Then way bother posting in the first pace?

Explain what makes "real" psychedelic music then.

I never made a claim of any greater "realness", or framed anything as a distortion, pretense, or knockoff of some inarguable one true Truth that is real psychedelic music. I just said I didn't like it. I hope I'll find something I like.

I love this album when I'm tripping, specifically this track. I can just close my eyes and float through space.

And what are all those words reliant on for meaning.

Subtext? Hidden meanings? Ulterior motives?

The machinery of my mind. ie, me, the thing generating them.

The process of you parsing and evaluating them based on context, isn't really relevant barring some major underlying fault or not properly knowing English well enough to be able to read through the various ways it's used.

It's all implicitly relative to a particular observer. It's not like someone saying "this tea is hot", and you'd expect to experience the phenomena the same way. Obviously.

I don't think you understand how communication works.

Some I've had in rotation recently:

The Olivia Tremor Control - I Have Been Floated
youtube.com/watch?v=P6hkVXpQYYg

The Apples in Stereo - Green Machine
youtube.com/watch?v=e4AvDuo8V38

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - (David Bowie I Love You) Since I Was Six
youtube.com/watch?v=XWsYmVWI4I0

whats a good place to start with dirty projectors?

panda bear - person pitch - tropical sample based psych. One of my all time fave albums.
xtc - skylarking - lush spring 80s psych
mgmt - congratulations. - scooby doo psych
pink floyd - piper at the gates of dawn - classic psych
spacemen 3 - the perfect prescription - drone-y spaced out psych
(you could also listen to lazer guided melodies, which is like that album but with a bigger sound.)

ive tried to getting them but i cant get over how much they sound like them.

one of my all time faves.

I think you think you understand how communication works, but really don't. This has formed a catch 22 for you where it becomes difficult to initiate any process that would expand an otherwise limited and inflexible way of judging incoming signals. Further, you also likely lack the mental structures to define and evaluate a broad spectrum of how a given human mind might be functioning.

Your post really says it all. There is no "way communicate works". Either signals can be received and decoded, or they can't. Either they're meaningfully accurate to the source, or they aren't. These rules can be made binary because underneath all the branches, fluff, conditionals, and seeming intricacies, it is very, very, simple.

I was going to give you some good psyche recs but now I'm not because you are acting like a dumbshit.

35007 is under-rated

That's just how it works.

Even though it was probably already posted, my favorite psych album ever.

Goodbye user

Farewell.

Not my favorite ever but my favorite 13th floor elevators album. Easter Everywhere's pretty gud too :^)

high wolf is cool
youtube.com/watch?v=C5u37LSBmjY

i dont even go outside how do you expect me to find drugs

i like that cover

>i like that cover
Check out the music as well then:
youtube.com/watch?v=t1GU7m2CWuo

Not psych, but...
makes me happy when trippin

I feel like I've Got Levitation should be on The Psychedelic Sounds Of... instead of Easter everywhere. Then again, all their records have that classic psych/garage rock style that the track lists could be totally cut up and rearranged and they would still be enjoyable.

i don't like to trip to psychadelic music but i do like to listen to death grips just recently tripped because BP just came out and loved the experience.
