How can i remove information about me from google? I was convicted in a court nearly 4 years ago for assault, the news reports from journalists were extremely biased and failed to report that i never started the fight nor did they report that the person i hit had multiple previous convictions for attacking people. It was completely slanderous but my lawyer told me i would need to sue them and it would be costly. Im applying for jobs and its making it difficult to get accepted because of this.
I read that in the EU google has a "right to be forgotten law" but i dont think they will remove the links to the story because i cant prove it was defamatory (i would need a lot of money to sue the journalist that printed the story to then prove this).
legally change your name? i mean. that's pretty much it bruh. You'd have to get it removed from every major search engine, which is kind of impossible.
Logan Hall
I was thinking of changing my name as a last resort, a lot of employers ask for previous names on applications. Its like i cant win whatever i do.
I just want to be able to move on with my life and look forward.

There are a bunch of pro bono legal groups in european countries that specialise in helping with this kind of shit, contact one of those groups.
Also, you are correct that references to those news articles will not be removed. Is your name mentioned in those?
Lucas Wright
My names in all the articles
Landon Taylor
Can't you mention that in your interview and bring some data? Reverse-blog about your persecution and why it's unfair? Maybe pay Google to bump that result up.
Or maybe being good enough that they would want your skills despite a minor past incident?

>I was convicted in a court nearly 4 years ago for assault. So you started a fight and didn't have a proper job in the last 4years. Get fucked, nigger.
Dylan Ortiz
I'm gonna guess OP is a white male and fought with an Arab or black Muslim man.
Right to be forgotten isn't a defamatory thing, it's just general privacy. If you have standing under the EU statue, all you do is make the request and that's it. No lawsuit, no proof of defamation/libel etc
William Ramirez
I have several vandalism charges and my employers knew about it and didn't even care. I know assault is much more serious, but there's a good chance nobody will give a shit.
Isaiah Lewis
That's a little harsh don't you think, user

I have a job, i got turned down from several companies because they asked for background checks even for office work. I was only unemployed for 2 months, currently working in an office but its just a job, its not a career.
Jaxson Hernandez
I figuered i would just get told from google "its in the public interest" and would reject my request.
The company work for asked me to disclose it on my starter form, i sent it to HR and never heard anything more.
I think its ridiculous that so many companies require screening. I agree its required where you work with children and vulnerable adults but even fucking call centre jobs are requiring background checks.

>they asked for background checks even for office work. I too wonder, why they don't want someone violent in an office environment. >currently working in an office Then ask for a recommendation from your boss. >but its just a job, its not a career. You're already marked by the system. There's no career for people like you, unless you come up with something of your own.
Jacob Harris
What if you won't tell them that you've changed your name..?
John Long
Unless you're in the EU, you can't. Enjoy!
Aaron Peterson
>Public interest Nope. All they're doing is dropping it from search results, they're not actually removing anything so there's no speech or press rights they can fall back on. If you are covered by the statue and make the request, they're required to comply.
Kayden Hall
Chaning your name likely will be the most effective way but is still difficult. A friend reported a make attack on her that resulted in a lockdown of nearby schools, the flying of a police helicopter and dozens of officers searching the woods for her imaginary attacker. She had to change her name to get away from that stupidity. Many mugshot sites let you remove your record but not all do and data flows very easily. If your name is even a bit distinctive, your past actions will follow you.
The difficulty for him will be that if he has a college degree, previous work experience, or certifications, they're under his old identity. My friend who changed her name was able to abandon her past because her father created a small business (a printshop) for her to manage. Most won't have such an option. There is a slight chance that the rise of transexuals in recent years has caused institutions like universities to allow you to change your old name on their records to your new name but I don't know for sure things have gone that far yet.

>Got arrested for assault >Police report botched my name
