Does anyone else feel like drums are overrated and holding back music?
It's like 95 percent of music is just the same frequencies hitting you on the head over and over to move your body.

accept your noise-overlords
Only fucking hipsters feel this way or even think about this shit. Your brain has evolved to appreciate drums and bass. Rhythm is an integral part of music.
I don't know if they're holding us back, but I have noticed a lot of popular music is overly reliant on just drums + a vocal melody. disappointing tbqh
yes, try some classical music op
Music is a specific thing. You can only change it so much before it doesn't sound like music anymore.
You're totally right though just listen to classical. There's percussion but it's not retarded 4 on the foor shit
t. uneducated plebeian
>I don't know if they're holding us back
OP here me either, just something I've been thinking about
I listen to a lot of percussive electronic shit too
Drum samples in pop and other mainstream music is what's truly holding music back. Pasting and copying drum beats in to a loop is not music.
Maybe. Though the same frequencies thing should possible to avoid in the digital age.
Bring back the real drummer plz
these guys get it
more often than not there's a drummer and they just put samples over the shit he plays
real drummers are fine but FUCK real drums they are the whole problem.
So, you basically hate talent? Music should be made entirely on computers, right?
The whole kick snare motif needs to be outgrown desu but I don't see it happening right now. Ever noticed how some people simply refer to the instrumental section of a song as the "beat"?
yeah im not sure im following what OP is on about
this
wow this thread is making me hate drums all of the sudden.
You're doing it purpose, right?
*on purpose
>album has a 2 minute drum solo
