ITT: GOAT albums that it's trendy to hate on

I'll start with the best of the Britpop era (sorry, Radiohead, it beats The Bends pretty squarely in my book)

GOAT pop-punk.

desu yeah
it's a strong 7

It gets so much hate, and yet it's still one of the best pop albums in the best decade for pop music, ever.

...

This pleases me to no end

Must be a shit book

I love this album

Here in England it's not trendy to hate it. Here on /mu it is and there's a reason; it's utter balls, neither original nor remotely interesting. Modern dad rock (provided your parents were 20/30 in the 90's) with a pseudo-pretentious edge loved by people who think they are different and intellectual when in fact they are just slightly above average

le dad rock
how the fuck is this better than the bends, one good song: slide away

these are all just objectively shit

Arctic Monkeys- What ever people say I am, that's what I'm not

But everything they did after that is fucking shit.

your taste is the only thing that's objectively shit here.

fuck you

>he likes Oasis
>he likes the Offspring
>he likes My Chemical Romance
>he likes post-Gabriel Genesis

wew lad
still bland vanilla 14-year old core

>he doesn't like at least the first two Oasis albums

U wot m8?

Oasis destroyed modern English rock music.

when 5 lads from Manchester can destroy modern English rock music, it really tells everything, doesn't it?

>he doesn't like My Chemical Romance

Yeah. That they were so bland and faceless that they appealed to a generation of dropouts and held everyone dumb enough to listen in a vice grip of bland indie tunes for the next 20 years. This is why the UK is killing it in electronic music.

You are a moron.
rawr XD

underage """patrician""" detected.

you have to be 18 to post here.

>underage meme
>listens to Oasis

>rawr XD
I hope that's sarcasm

>rawr XD

Ironic shitposting is just shitposting.

holy shit mcr fans are thin-skinned
(yes it was sarcasm)

I don't understand that logic
Even if you don't like Oasis, the 90s had Blur, Radiohead, Pulp..

Bland musically, yes definitely. Faceless, no. They had the face of 'rockstars' fighting, drinking and drugging up. The only reason they were popular was because of that and slagging off other respectable musicians. Don't get me wrong I still hate them and the music

Basically anyone on creation records, bar oasis

...

Obviously not "absolutely all" English rock music, but if we're talking about the mire of post-Britpop landfill Indie bands that we have today, then correct me if I'm wrong but that is direct consequence of britpop.

>they act funny woo-hoo rocknroll!
>anime image
you are not helping your case

For an album released in 73, it has one of the best productions imho senpai.

It's really a timeless classic. The lyrical themes will still be relevant in the future. Singing is great, great instrumental.

People just hate it because of hipsters

first good answer in the entire thread

...

...

Thanks.

I will never get the hate. Sure, many idiots like this album, but that doesn't evaluate the real impact this album had.

For real, it's from 73! Most albums from the 90s and 00s sounded like shit compared to that.

pop-punk masterpiece

really, really good.

Nah, this one just sucked.

Vampire Weekend are seriously the Guns n Roses of modern indie on the "One-album wonder" scale.

STOP BURNING BRIDGES

DRIVE OFF OF THEM

We're talking about music that's just trendy to hate 'on mu' right? Because literally everyone I know IRL loves this album, including people into music and not into music.

Try again

...

>We're talking about music that's just trendy to hate 'on mu' right?
I think so yeah

no this is just bad

I don't need to help my case, you've already devalued your opinion by ironically shitposting instead of forming a coherent criticism.

yeah, because My Chemical Rawrmance justifies genuine incisive criticism

that's not an argument.

just stop posting, this is embarrassing. you clearly know nothing about them.

How can you be pseudo-pretentious? Does that mean you're just covering for the fact that you're not pretentious really? Or is it something to do with redundant prefixes?

>pseudo-pretentious edge
Really? I always thought the lack of pretension was a good point of Oasis. Maybe the lyrics of something like Champagne Supernova could be seen as pretentious, but even then the result is so dumb that you just have to smile.

far more important: Oasis are many things, but I wouldn't say they are pretentious really

You're right in most of the music but they themselves frequently claimed that they were the best band in the world
Yeah, pseudo-pretentious as in they were hiding the fact that they were so full of themselves in their over the top use of common dialect and crudeness. A sort of hyperlocalism

Damon?

You caught me. I just want my music to be even half as good as this album. Deep down I want to appeal to the masses like them but I'm too middle class. Why couldn't we just have be friends? Buy my next album please. I'm releasing it next month

well, you're friends now at least:
youtube.com/watch?v=6X9GFDVYIWw

it's a better album than it is a meme

Be careful people will call you me.
But I agree

I can't handle a nonlinear album structure. What the crap, this song's all different and shit! I want my albums to have a nice linear structure like those Marvel movies and Ziggy Stardust. Also I hate it because this because he's updating the album, that's breaking the rules of music! I use this criteria to bash TLOP because it makes me sound smart.

Hahaha, what?… Classic rock ripoffs. Seriously, at least Morning Glory had the singles. Definitely maybe was Oasis still warming up.

Because it's shit. Nirvana minus melodies, progressive elements, wildness… basically everything that made it good. Without the production, it's just irrelevant mediocre hardcore punk which was 15 years too late to the scene.

Piece of shit album. That's coming from a guy who likes American Idiot (the album produced by the same guy).

Because people are tired of p4k rating system.

Band is from New York: +3.0

Band fits all "indie" criteria: +3.0

That's how you get p4k core. The tried recipe for force feeding people shitty indie rock from Brooklyn.

...

It really is trendy to hate on great music like Britpop. Why can't Sup Forums appreciate fine melodies such as the ones crafted by bands like Oasis and Blur?

Who hates on revolver?

>Piece of shit album. That's coming from a guy who likes American Idiot (the album produced by the same guy).

Hey there user, my name actually is Brandon Smith and I live in Plainville, Connecticut, United States of America, and I just wanted to say that you are an absolute cock-inhaling faggot of a human being who should go and shitfuck himself up the dickhole for having such genuinely retarded opinions. It literally seems to me that you may actually legitimately be a mentally handicapped person whose handler has accidentally allowed to access a computer. My recommendation is that you go out to your nearest freeway at your earliest convenience and insert yourself into the traffic such that motorists are forced to either swerve or splatter your being upon the hoods and windshields of their cars, traumatizing all those within them as you do, so that these sorts of inane and stupid shit thoughts that seem to just spew out of your anus of a mouth will never be seen on this board again. Alternatively, go to your resident barbecue and turn the grill on to its highest heat, then place your hands into the flames until they are roasted into unrecognizable stumpy, blackened appendages that will require years of treatment and therapy to heal into scarred lumps which will require a lifetime of medication to relieve the constant and permanent pain from nerve damage, in order to prevent yourself from ever typing such a dumb sentence ever again.

Thanks,
Brandon

...

Post-Gabriel Genesis is only a small dip in quality. We need to end this meme

Why. Blur was great. What's The Story… was also great, although a bit too pop. Definitely Maybe is another story though, it's obviously an inferior album, not bad but still poor.

yo damon, did you get the laptop back?

>messy production
>all songs follow the same formula
>nothing remotely original about it
Nah The Bends is better than DM and it's not even britpop. In fact, DM abd WTSMG get way too much praise. Pulp and Suede were the objectively superior britpop bands.

what the fuck is a moot

If you think this album is groundbreaking in any of those ways then you're a fucking plene. I like it but it's pretty much his first two albums with an updated aesthetic

What does GOAT mean i see it all the time round here

...

This. Easily top 3 modern djent albums.

are you joking

At least 2 of your opinions are correct.

sorry I don't follow self important attention starved Sup Forums tripfags

...

It's a meme to pretend to forget moot because he left this place to work for Google Plus.

THE

Contra was their peak. I'll accept your statement of you were in fact referring to that record.

Moot created this website at age 15.

Ah, right, I thought you meant they claimed to be arty/clever/sophisticated. I guess it makes sense that claiming to be the greatest when you're clearly not is a form of pretension too.

It's a fine album, but not their best pop effort.

Is it trendy to hate on AFD?

Either way, you won't find a better straight up rock album.

plagiarized*

*localized

The Strokes - Is This It
that was easy

What? Who hates on it? It's even in p4k's list of top 100 albums of the '80s. It's so fucking good that at first I simply didn't believe it: there was no way hair metal band could be this talented.

I guess it's the "ew dadrock/ ew cockrock" meme popular with nu-males and tumblrsexuals that is to blame.

best metal album ever

>there was no way hair metal band could be this talented.

that's because they weren't hair metal

indie rock is boring shit

Ah right. What elements classifies "Indie Rock" exactly?

...

it is hipster shit

Well I agree, but I mean their image. G'N'R were actually more hard rock than anything. No tapping solos, no neo-classical wankery, no who-plays-faster bullshit. Just straight rock goodness with double guitars. At least that's how it was on AFD until they fell into writing ballads. That's when I lost my interest.

>At least that's how it was on AFD until they fell into writing ballads. That's when I lost my interest.

That was all Axl. The rest of the guys just wanted to play blues rock, while Axl wanted the band to be Queen Mk.II

I'm glad he did though, because the Illusions albums have a lot of songs i love. I didn't need another AFD, it was already the perfect album, no need to make it again and become like AC/DC.

Grow up dude.

Indie is just a less interesting version of Grunge which dominated the rock scene in the early-mid 2000s. Bands like Kasabian, Libertines, Kaiser Chiefs etc.
