>mfw we have the same plug here in NZ

>no switch
shit tier

>using AC

Switch is required by law m80
>100V
This is why you guys don't use space heaters.

>not using AC

Clearly not the best plug and socket. Have a look at this piece of engineering perfection. 240volts, 16 ampere, C, E, F compatible, 50 hertz.

>Have a look at this piece of engineering perfection. 240volts, 16 ampere, C, E, F compatible, 50 hertz.

>is able to plugged in reverse polarity
This triggers electrical engineers worldwide
>uninsulated prongs
shit

>is able to plugged in reverse polarity
>AC power.....

Yes you are truly an engineering marvel.

>uninsulated prongs
Earthing terminal. No live wire. And cannot be touched once in the socket.

Doesn't Canada use American plugs?

What's so bad about the English one?

Nothing, Sup Forums is full of contrarians

This, I guess the main legitimate concerns are its bulk and that the plugs really hurt like a bitch to step on.

Explain pic
Bulky

Can fuck up your foot

get a load of this cunt stealing our powerpoints

The plugs all looked the same to me when I was up there

Why do you need switches on the outlets?

It's funny, we call them "sockets" in the States, and "Powerpoint" always makes me think of Microsoft PowerPoint.

Why would you leave the plug unplugged and on the floor? Don't think i've ever taken out a plug, except to move it into another socket

>2016
>Using electricty

It is a wallsocket. You plug in the plug. For power. What is there to explain?

its a point where you get power innit

saves money m8

Not your pic, mine.
Long ago there were unreliable appliances and porcelain plugs.

Plugs like that are more prone to mechanical damage and ridiculously bulky for many aplications such as mobile devices.

You're not wrong, I'm just saying "PowerPoint" refers to the Microsoft product in the US.

And also fair enough; our power is cheap enough where that's not really an issue, but all bathroom outlets have a test and reset button.

Not keen on electricity anyway aye just lookin for a good root

>saves money
Alright

>not having caltrop plugs to foil burglars in the night

What about it? Faulty wallsocket? Direct current? You tell me.

AC does not matter. Plug it in any which way. If your teachers told you otherwise, flush that engineering degree. The cases where it does matter you have 3 phases and those plugs are resistant to being plugged in the wrong way.

??

How do you use table lamps safely?

Plug it in.

By not being a retard and knowing how to use an electrical outlet

>plug in table lamp opposite polarity
>touch outer shell
>get zapped

youtube.com/watch?v=UEfP1OKKz_Q

Sorry lads, but autism has already settled this debate for us.
>mfw people don't understand the sheer brilliance of the Great Britishâ„¢ Plug Socket

>>plug in table lamp opposite polarity
>Alternating Current power, it has polarity.
Is this bait?
>>touch outer shell
>>get zapped
No. Unless the light is defective. And even then: earthing terminal. No problem.

Are you shitting me? One line is hot (+230V/-230V), the other is neutral (0V), the light socket usually only switches the hot. If you have it in reverse the lampholder is now live, you take out the bulb and get zapped.

And European lampholders are grounded?

Okay numbnuts. Let me go try it.

Aaaand. Science agrees with me. No issues. You were shitting me.

I give up

we do, OP is just saying what's the best, not what we have

I tried. Did not get zapped. Go try yourself. You will see.

Try figure out what direct and alternating current mean.

>230V
Standard in all first-world countrirs
>reverse polarity
Nice bait
>not huge
Bigger than our god-tier plugs
>handles 16A
We are talking about plugs/sockets, not wiring. Probably bait as well.
>insulated pins
Don't look as insulated as our pins.
>used by 1bil+ people
Not an argument.

Bait/5 consider pic related my main response.

We use the same plug

I have, reverse plugging in made the lamp shell live on these floods. Good thing it was only 120V.

kill yourself with your shitty response
what brings you to get so mad about plugs?

Blame Chinese engineering, or better, inferior Canadian sockets. European electricitygrid benefits from better egnineering and higher standards. Proving OP wrong.

Or do you have a different conclusion?

>canadian engineering

16 ampere is not a joke. All of Western-Europe has 16a compatible plugs. Or better. Perilex for example, 25a. Or 3 phase power, 400 volt, 32 ampere.

Fair enough; North American sockets have been around since at least the 1920s (although grounding wasn't until the 1950s), and were "designed" for simplicity and ease of setup. We also don't have switches on our outlets because (I believe) our fuses/circuit breakers are all in a concentrated area of the house.

>2016
>not having an outlet that gives you a proper blowjob

They look scared

;^)
>120V
Edison was a mistake

A&B sockets, 120 volt, 60 hertz. Not something to brag about. Would take ages to get water boiling.

Pic related, my distribution board.

I wonder how the Japanese boil water.

Here's my split-phase board btw

>can't be plugged in reverse polarity
Truly what a achievement of electrical engineering considering you use alternate current.

I've heard Edison opposed AC because he never received the training in Calculus and stuff that's required to understand AC power.

Most of us use Gas to heat water, 2bh. Electric stoves are only in the Mountains, as well.

GB plugs ftw.

Our single phase ones can't handle high currents without getting hot.

>All these sissy foreigner plugs ITT

You all need to get on your knees for the BBP

stupid snownigger, the shell of the lamp is connected to ground, not neutral

ground is connected on both sides, which makes it impossible to "turn it the wrong way"

>>Alternating Current power, it has polarity.

>What is multiple earthed neutral (MEN)

>not using the international standard

Continuous-flow gas systems are the most popular in Japan from what I saw.

Are you implying Japan only uses DC? How many power stations you got per block Shinji?

they look weak

German Schuko will be the new European norm I hope. Swiss and Italians still use very strange looking sockets but thankfully EU is bullying them into using normal sockets now.

>2016
>Using electricity

you run 2 hot wires to make it 240 volts. This is whats done here for electric stoves and water heaters. You euros think we can't run 240 volts when we can.

Obviously it doesn't.

Japan is weird in being the only country to run grids at two different frequencies though.

didn't know Sup Forums was full of EE people.

Posted from my iRock

>t. cucked by the electric Jew

>he doesn't like the big british plug that's built like a brick shithouse.

oh you dumb canadian.

If we go for international standardisation (which we absolutely should) can we use the danish model? It looks so happy.

>implying the US wouldn't simply disregard such standards like it always does
But yeah, it's cute. Too bad the EU is start to bully them out of it.

If we use the US grumpy (but still kinda cute) model would it make it easier on everyone?

It would make it easier on us, and we're probably the most stubborn country when it comes to such things, so maybe. Perhaps Type A plugs with 240 V distribution.

In my mind the wiring is more of a limiting factor than a plug (the prongs are thick), but I suppose they are current-rated too then.

This. Countries that still use electricity are literally 3rd-world Goyim.

>didn't know Sup Forums was full of EE people.
I don't know about your country, but this is high school science stuff man.

DC circuits are part of the Freshman year curriculum, while AC power varies by school.

Absolute best ones.

Look at me, agreeing with a Dutch.

>tfw we have the same one, but the polarity is reversed
lmao, spent an entire summer working with some imports that were designed for Australia, replacing every single plug

Oh, wow, the first time I saw this I told everyone that the Swiss-Brazilian was objectively the best design, and noone trusted me
