Pinging google.com

>pinging google.com
>data travels from my computer miles and miles and miles to google's servers, through many routers and interchanges, and comes ALL THE WAY BACK, in under 4 milliseconds

>drawing pixel to my monitor, less than 5 feet away from my computer
>takes around 10 milliseconds

what the fuck did they mean by this???

How many pixels are on your monitor, and why what means do they turn on? You do realize the pixels are lit up one by one in sequential order, right?

It's almost like LCDs have a delay or something

cool article, i'll take a look later

sorry i worded that badly, i mean refreshing the screen to change state takes about 10ms for my monitor, so realistically speaking it would be between 0ms - 10ms for a "change" to show up on the screen after the graphics card figures it out and starts pushing the right values over the display adapter.

but still, it's only 5 feet. why does it take so long?

i know, but it still weirds me out

Tiny ping packet vs drawing uncompressed frame data is not a fair comparison.

Is 4ms ping common? My ping time to Google is about 20ms.

use a crt then if you care.

To elaborate on a 1080p panel with a per channel bit depth of 8 you are looking at about 6.22 mb of data. vs however big a ping packet is it’s been a while since I took tcp/ip

Also electrons aren’t moving very fast at all, what makes transmission fast is that they push each other.

>waiting microled 240hz

>macshit has over 30ms

pic related is I suggest you read a fucking book or two.

Since the only thing you seem to understand is distance:
Even if we assume that the 1920x1080 display you have uses a perfect protocol (no wasted communication), the 2m cable between the monitor and your computer makes the distance about a 1/10th of the circumference of the earth.

If you were just turning a single pixel on and off, your monitor could do that without you even seeing it. There's a world of difference between a single packet traveling to Google and back and drawing an image on your screen.

It's easier just to say you're retarded and call it a day.

What the fuck were they using, GNOME Terminal?

obviously, the solution is to have 3840 x 2160 strands of fibre optics going from the video card to the monitor instead of a 19pin HDMI cable.

Get Out

it really fuckin makes u think aye

who is this seminal fluid druid

Probably, what else would they consider the default for linux?

>Not reading the link.
Used an automated system that internally transmitted the character press.
The 30ms came from physical key press.

This is why people in IT can't joke around unchecked, the retarded normies just eat it up.

plug your monitor into your router
