The smartphone scam

What's the point of upgrading your phone every year ?

A 4 years old phone can make phone calls and send messages and run 99% of modern apps .

A galaxy S5 can do the same job as a galaxy s9 and costs 1/5 of money. It might not be as fast but it gets the job done.

Why are you guys wasting your money ?

>Inb4 much security updates

When was the last time a hacker stole your credit card info and stole your idea for your next nobel just because you didn'thave the latest security update installed on your phone ?

Only people who wants to pretend to have money care about upgrading

It's an american thing.

>He's not upgrading his phone every month
What are you, a poorfag?

Their bottom half smells like fish. Accurate.

hello

reddo

>being poor

>4 years old phone can make phone calls and send messages and run 99% of modern apps .

An iPhone 6 definitely cannot do most of this.

He said a "Phone".
Learn to read, you moron

Oh my bad user too many dicks in my ass to think straight

The main reason is that producers drop the OS upgrade support too soon and you get suck with an old version of android which gets more deprecated with every new android version released, for example you can't install anymore the latest version of reddit app on android versions older than kitkat.

Also even if the phone gets a further android version upgrade it will run much worse on it comparing with the one it have at the initial release, for example the S5 runs worse on stock 6.0.1 than it used to ran on stock 4.4.2.

Most phone contracts last 2 years.

People got into the habit of buying a new phone (under contract) every 2 years rather than switching to SIM-only to save money.

You don't have to of course, but it seems most phones are designed with a 2 year lifespan in mind.

On android, lollipop is still supported, so you have literally no reason to update a phone newer than 4 years old

Only consumer whores upgrade their phone.

I don't upgrade my phone, I buy a new one when my current phone stop working.

>contracts

That's depending your country, here in Europe many people just use unloked devices with their sim cards.

And yours smells like rotten cheese.

Yes it can you idiot

Take the flip-pill. DuraXE is nearly indestructable, cost me a hundred bucks, and comes with a VPN

My stupid s5 is constantly dropping texts and no matter what I do to try and fix it I can't. It's the only reason why I'd consider getting a new one. Also they stop issuing security updates after a certain point forcing people upgrade.

No it doesn’t, I’ve been practicing sucking my own dick and I can assure you it smells fine

...

I just sold my S5 yesterday. Just because of no more security updates. Now I have a HTC U11 Life with android 8 on it and guaranteed two more OS upgrades and three years of security updates. It is YOUR responsibility to keep your phone up to date with security, or else if someone did steal your bank account, then you do not get the money back if you run an outdated phone.

I'm not a poorfag and enjoy using new tech.

Lolz fucin zo funy :D cunt cunt vagina lolz

Sprint was offering the Moto Z2 Force for 10 dollars a month and I get an account credit. For a snapdragon 835 based flagship I'm going to be paying less than $200.so it made sense to upgrade my galaxy s6

It can, but not much else without lagging.
And the price argument goes out the window even if you're considering even a used iPhone.

These pieces of crap are meant to wear down over time let alone the fact that an out-of-date Android phone is using an outdated Linux kernel that could be vulnerable to highly-publicized vulnerabilities. Only 1/4 of all Android phones are protected against dirty cow. You're acting like it's no big deal because you're probably a baby boomer that wandered in here from Facebook. The batteries usually start to wear out by 2 years and they rarely let you replace them anymore. I remember my Galaxy S3 struggling to manage a two to three-hour incursion around town doing nothing but playing back music; it was only 3 or 4 years old.

Smartphones are just horrible. The fact that there is no good text editor for smartphones is proof enough of what they're actually meant to be. I really want to find a good UMPC to replace my smartphone so I can laugh at all the adult toddlers insisting they can actually get something done with these silly toys.

Case in point, kitkat was released nearly 5 years ago.

Hey I still yse my S5. Rocking a custom rom that eliminates the bloateware shit. Fucks upy sd cards every once in a while though.

>my friend got a S3
>S5 just came out
>he starts babbling about how his S3 does the same
>Says he dosen't need to update
>says that shit is just a scam
>the only thing the S5 got better is the waterproof
>I tell him: with the S5 you can see porn in the shower
>w-what?
>me: it's waterproof you can take it to the shower
>i-i never thought of that

next day he got a S5

I have an s5 too but with the stock marshmallow rom, do you run lineage OS on it? How good is it in terms of battery usage?

No, I run XtreStoLite from a while back. If there is a Lineage rom for it, that'd be nice. Battery life has been great with it since it eliminates many bloatware services but I've also been keeping track of the apps that I install and use i.e. removing apps that drain my battery fast.

better camera

Nobody actually upgrades their phone every year.
That's a stupid meme that retards like you buy into, only because there are constantly threads about buying new smartphones.

Textbox lost focus and posted too early. The fuck.

Anyways, if you weren't a retard, you might consider that Sup Forums and the internet as a whole is made up of more than one person, and all of these people buy phones at different times.

If you find this concept hard to understand, the market must be incomprehensible

Ive used an Iphone 4s for about 4 years, now i have the 7 and i plan on using it until it messes up internally where i cant handle it. My 4s was only fucked up inside not out. If you have some self control and can take care of your phone you dont need to upgrade every year

Better yet get a midrange phone with a Snapdragon 600 series chipset.
