I don't know how to read the average comparison page, but I'm updating my League to test what I get uncapped.
Give me a year.
Lincoln Kelly
Worth enough to trigger anons.
Lincoln Kelly
im asking because i have the choice of choosing a motherboard with RGB but one less usb port or a motherboard without rgb but one more usb port
Hunter Cook
no it's not worth it.
Evan Ramirez
rgb one is also 20$ cheaper
William Jenkins
So I just built my pc with a cross hair vi but it keeps booting to bios and not windows what do I do?
Blake Garcia
Useless feature
Unless you are making an aesthetic build with matching color schemes.
Connor Reed
(You) My cpu benchmark seems off? Is it possible a setting is changed in windows to limit my cpu cores/threads?
P.s. I opened msconfig and changed pic related, does this solve that issue? was previously checked with cores:1.
Caleb Cooper
Do you expect another GPU price hike when the next generation comes out? Does it make sense to buy a few dozen GPUs to resell for profit?
Brayden Cox
1080p / Max CPU plan set to high performance on stock GPU isn't breaking a sweat
Cores set to 1 could certainly be an issue, as it would cram everything into using only one core thus a performance bottleneck.
Dylan Turner
Also borderless, which might impact it a bit. Also Windows 10 LTSB. I have a laundry list of crutches that
aren't Ryzen
.
Isaiah Diaz
>Does it make sense to buy a few dozen GPUs to resell for profit?
The price will already be marked up.
Your best bet for a profit is to rob the truck delivering the gpus. Seriously.
Justin Reed
Ok here's the retest after all cores active. Does the benchmark im getting seem as expected? Also im assuming borderless would cause lower fps if anything compared to full screen
Passmark scores require using the Passmark's benchmark suite, not CPU-Z.
CPU-Z scores are located at this site, for example: valid.x86.fr/r10auj Click "submit and compare" and provide that link. It seems you're still missing out on performance.
I'm getting a new everything except for a case psu and storage. I don't want any problems so I was going to format the storage drives, but I don't know how since I bought windows digitally and don't have any sort of cd or key. Can I just use the reset this pc option (since it reinstalls windows automatically), or is that not like a true wipe?
Connor Nelson
valid.x86.fr/pchhbl Results looks pretty comparable. I notice the monitor states 50-77hz, is there any reason I shouldn't run 76 or 77 hz then? >pic related That is my RAM information. Slot 1&2 are identical, slot 3&4 are identical. Where it says ranks:single/dual, is that important? Could it benefit to swap the 4gb sticks with the 2gbs?
How good of a deal is this: CPU - Intel i5-4790k CPU Cooler - 120mm Asetek AiO Motherboard - MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition SSD - SanDisk 128GB (Boot Drive) HDD - Toshiba 7200rpm 2TB GPU - MSI GTX 960 4GB PSU - 600W 80+ Optical Drive - LG DVD/CD Writer Wireless Network Adapter - Gigabyte 801.11a/b/g/n/ac OS - Windows 10 Home
for 700 bucks
Or would I be better just buying new sans the graphics card and just waiting.
Jacob Wood
The refresh rate usually varies per resolution, that 77 is probably only for low res.
Your RAM setup is definitely weird and may be impacting performance a bit, but as I originally hand waved at your CPU's single threaded performance is really nothing special. Your 1050ti would probably be a bottleneck in League if it was actually utilized, but your CPU is the bottleneck as expected.
Sorry for using Passmark scores again, but I find it easier to navigate at the expense of in-depth info. In pic related, you can see modern STP (which League loves more than a GPU for higher FPS) has come a long way at lower prices.
Jace Perry
Install Linux.
Robert Richardson
rip off
Its a capable system in 2018, but its old and something is bound to break soon. I'd give no more than $400 for it, but I'd aim for $300(especially if the ram is less than 16gb).
Carson Jenkins
>Budget edition does 2018 have a hobo build yet? does anyone have a recent hobo build?
Leo Peterson
Shit thats kinda what i was thinking, but hoping not. Especially cause he says he has overclocked it to 4.7ghz before so it shows he has kinda beaten the hell out of it.
Christopher Flores
Yeah it's called a $20 android smartphone
Grayson Cook
If thats all you can afford I think you should just get a library membership and use their computers.
poozen 1600 and i get around the mid 3000s (the blue bar fill is equally pathetic looking on mine). like i said in my other reply you should try some other popular benching and stressing apps.
what country do you live in? i know gigabyte makes nics but ive never seen them in canada.
did you forget to list the memory or are you literally buying everything but the memory?
i dont need it im just curious if its still possible from a mainstream retailer
>Yeah it's called a $20 android smartphone but it cant run a mainstream desktop OS
Juan Cox
>but it cant run a mainstream desktop OS Yeah, but it'd sure as hell outperform anything you'd do on that $70 build. And most shit's web apps these days anyway, all you're changing is the form factor.
Can also play your games.
Adrian Richardson
It also comes with a display, battery, speaker, wifi and bluetooth making it portable
Justin Richardson
In the US and shit i forgot to list it, its 16gb, unsure of the specs atm but I don't think that'll really change my decision. Doesn't seem like a very good deal with what user said earlier.
Michael Parker
how would i get a new os on a brand new hard drive without using a dvd?
Cameron Hughes
usb stick
Levi Jackson
this seems like jsut an alternative to the refurb dell meme in terms of price point and what you get.
still not the same as having some sort of actual desktop computer around.
Colton Butler
Where is the actual desktop to be used for comparison? Don't forget the display and inputs, otherwise it's just a brick.
Jason Rodriguez
Hows it look?
Michael Carter
Screenshot CPU tab
Blake Bell
download the iso? do i need to do anything else besides maybe boot priority?
Brayden Miller
...
Daniel Garcia
I would go for something like this, consider that you'd need to update the BIOS at a PC shop or a microcenter or just go with a 1200 and overclock it pcpartpicker.com/list/ndF4D2
Joseph Campbell
user, I... You'll want to sit down for this.
It's time to put her down, except the 1050ti.
There's a few tools to properly install the ISO to a usb stick (including UEFI support), but yes also boot order priority.
Benjamin Kelly
Whats the issue?
Connor Ward
phone has a tiny display and shitty input and i sure as fuck cant add 8TB of storage to it or a pair of nics and use it as a file server or pf sense box.
so tell me how much all the dongles and other random shit i would need to buy to make that happen on a phone cost.
seems more accurate. im running poozen 1600 with ram clocked at 2966 and here are my results: >passmark 4602 >cpu 12984 >2d 835 (1050ti) >3d 7096 (1050ti) >memory 1907 >disk 3615 (crucial POS SSD) seems like its pretty accurate of what you should expect in terms of real world performance compared to what cpuz was showing.
Ethan Carter
Your CPU literally sucks. It's also a power whore while performing worse.
See the highlighted numbers in ? Those numbers are way more important for games than the big red number, although that is slowly shifting.
I guess you wouldn't be buying a $70 joke poverty PC at that point either huh. I offered something better for less.
Blake Wright
That 16gb makes the system worth using, but it doesn't change much. 4790k is still viable but its basically a mid tier card today, and the gtx 960 only has value due to miners inflating the market, otherwise its old and lacking behind in the power delivery (my R9 380 doesn't cut it for 1080p gaming today, and its about 5-10% stronger than a 960). The rest of the build, except for the motherboard and wifi adapter, could be valued as $5 a piece since you can basically scavenge electronics dumps for the same parts for free.
Ram could have had value if it was DDR4, but its DDR3, so not that usable since its locked down to the hardware.
Analyzing and pricing use computers is an art. Its also a sad reminder since it shows us of how much our systems degrades in value over time.
Adam Hill
Goal: Gaming Budget: 1300ish USD Basing a build off of:
CPU: Deciding between 1700x and intel equivalent because intel is apparently better for gaming? Any recommendations?
Motherboard:?
Ram:?
Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 1TB M.2-2280 SSD (?)
Monitor: ROG SWIFT PG279Q
PSU: SeaSonic - FOCUS Plus Gold 850W 80+
Case: Corsair Carbide 400C Mid Tower
GPU: GEFORCEĀ® GTX 1080 (when it's eventually 699.00 again, until then I'll be using an old GPU).
I'd appreciate any advice, it's been a while since I've made a build.
Jack Reed
With that in mind, would you say its operating as expected/ideally? If you were to replace cpu for another with Am3 socket + DDR3 compatible what is the part?
Julian Gomez
tldr a phone is still not a desktop computer and you dont even get to fuck around and source parts and put it all together. funny that would shill that in a thread about building.
Gabriel Perez
It's operating as well as it can, and it's not worth upgrading to something on the same socket.
If you were to reuse the case, PSU (dust it out), storage devices, and 1050ti to a new build you could absolutely smoke with even the cheapest modern CPUs.
Oh no! And you could also probably meme an 8TB storage device with usb OTG.
Julian Moore
>except for the motherboard and wifi adapter, could be valued as $5 a piece since you can basically scavenge electronics dumps for the same parts for free.
where are people dumping all these fully functioning components exactly?
Carson Diaz
Been looking for some used parts to put together an HTPC and stumbled upon this. What would you pay for this system?
Aiden Russell
Recycling stations
Don't think you have those in the colonies, but its a dump site for metals, wood, well/paper, organic materials, chemicals and electronics. Some of it goes off for recycling, some for safe storage and some is used for green energy projects or warming houses.
The electronics container is typically full of broken radios and tvs that are beyond repair, but the pcs left there could just have one or two broken components typically so its just free for scavenging those for parts. Just don't expect any large drives or new stuff.
Adrian Rogers
>funny that would shill that in a thread about building. Might as well also respond to specifically this bit too.
My "$20 android phone" joke idea was in response to If you don't think a fully functional device with far and away more features that also matter (like networking and USB OTG for ext storage or regular kb+m/over bluetooth, etc) with a display and battery to make it portable with minimal drawbacks like a "tiny screen", then I guess you're right I'm shilling in the wrong general.
Android is also just a customized Linux. Barring ROM shenanigans, on the low level you still have that same set of tools to branch out from.
Yeah I guess a $20 android phone as a joke isn't as funny as $70 turd.
Connor Sanders
Could be done for free using this method But the system looks very clean and might be well maintained. Maybe $100, $150 max.
Easton Murphy
nice faggot bait dude
Logan Johnson
What?
Oliver Perez
Wouldn't the RX560 worth $100 alone? The seller is asking for $400 so I can't imagine I could talk him down to $150
William Wright
your motherboard will depend on if you get a ryzen or intel cpu. for ram, either 8-16 gigabytes ddr3 or ddr4, probably about 3000 MHz.
I can imagine it, the 560 is the only thing of value in that case.
Angel Diaz
hey Sup Forums help a dude out why the fuck is my fourth core at 109 celsius
Eli Lee
did you try asking it to chill
Parker Butler
so now you have to get a sata to usb enclosure or converter, and a usb otg adapter. >if it was a computer you could just plug the 8tb drive in and now you need to run a second power cable >hobo tier psu still has more than enough juice for that drive, dont need to waste an outlet and now to fuel your network you need to obtain an ethernet adapter so you buy a usb to ethernet adapter. your otg adapter only has 1 port so now you need to buy usb hub. >if it was a computer you could just use the ethernet port that is already there and you wouldnt need to buy an extra usb port to do that either now you are tired of typing slow as fuck with your thumbs while shitposting in /pcbg/ so you plug in a keyboard and mouse. >if you owned a computer you would already have a keyboard and mouse plugged in now your collection of gay porn has filled up the 8tb drive. you have to buy another drive and some form of sata to usb interface and plug that shit into the usb hub. >if it was a computer you could just plug the 8tb drive in >hobo tier psu still has more than enough juice for that drive, dont need to waste an outlet now you want to watch your gay porn on a larger display so you buy a usbmhltohdmi adapter. >if you owned a 2018 hobo tier computer you would already have hdmi chink phone has sketchy support for mhl so now you buy a more expensive chink phone. now your phone is running out of battery cause you didnt buy some overpriced hub that lets you charge your phone while also using usbotg so you unplug your phone and charge it. >if it was a computer it could use usb and draw power from an outlet at the same time >if it was a computer it wouldnt need usb to access the 8tb sata drives
Liam Price
the other problem I have is the cpu core will jump from 23 Celsius to 40 celsius yet in my bios it reads 35 celsius
Kayden Bell
You still need to connect the 8TB to the desktop somehow though, the number of cables hasn't changed.
Also you're "if you already owned a computer". If you already owned a computer why are you buying a $70 turd?
Small update on the first point of each, OS preinstall.
Eli Clark
Are there right wing/red pilled alternatives to pcpartpicker? They supported Clinton in the election and I'm not giving them traffic.
Parker Perry
Ok I'm done waiting with this fucking bottleneck high end pc with a fucking 960.
I'm just gonna fall for the mining jew and pay scalper the money they need so they can go and live in their stupid NEETdom for a week longer.
Fucking wish these NEET virgin miners could just fuck off already for real.
Luis Ross
you can get lucky if you are patient and look online enough
Henry Wood
I can get a gtx 970 for 120us from a friend of mine. Is that card worth it to build around for a new rig. Been playing on a laptop, looking to move over to a dedicated pc for gaming.
Jaxon Collins
It's a good deal
James Thompson
>Amazon locked out my account >Now can't afford the rest of the build for awhile because I lost out on an MSRP 1080ti I had everything budgeted perfectly and now everything I had was out of stock. This is horse shit
Brody Gray
i actually saved these but that still does not detract from the fact that you are a dumb fag.
a computer can do more shit than the phone off the bat.
Adam Wilson
Get this one, it's not a bad deal considering a 570 is $380 now. If you were to build it yourself I would recommend something like this (you could get a 1050 ti, cut the ssd and get a cheaper mouse and keyboard to be closer to $800) pcpartpicker.com/list/HDF4D2
Levi Fisher
yes, that is not out of reason however, the $70 wonder turd cannot do anything on its own
Parker Howard
I'm limiting my budget to $800, but my tolerance is at $1k max, so I'll go with this for now and upgrade as I go.
Bentley Clark
>Amazon locked out my account
How come? Or just random bullshit?
Jordan Bailey
Just get a $20 android phone and achieve enlightment
Angel Rodriguez
Random bullshit. The only reason I can suspect is because it didn't think I had enough in my account for some reason (which I doubt) or because it was flagged as suspicious.
Hunter Gray
Nice post, now try playing pubg and Kingdom Come on those specs.
Joshua Roberts
its a 70$ turd from 2013. i wanted to know if there was something like that now in 2018. like a machine you could put together from newegg or ncix or whatever. i dont want one but i think its something fun to look up.
Just get a $20 android phone and put a 1050ti in it and achieve enlightenment
Oliver Powell
You hear that poorfags? Listen UP Make sure the 1050ti is low profile
Robert Brown
Actually shit, as long as I switch some shit around I can still make it
Eli Hernandez
It's a good option since the mobo is B350 and the PSU could be worse, get a Sandisk 240gb SSD or a MX300 275gb and a 3200MHz 2x8gb kit in the future since it most likely comes with 2133MHz or 2400MHz DDR4.
Budget: 350-400 I already have purchased the case. Just planning on using this computer as an HTPC, emulator box and something I can haul between my house and take to to my friends.
Is it worth it for what I stated alone? Or should I scrap the build and go even cheaper aka different cpu/mobo?
Jace Garcia
Also I already have a ryzen 3 1200 and will use it to update the bios.
Also curious if there is a cheaper option for a itx mobo if I do go for this build.
Nathan Moore
If you don't plan on overclocking the stock cooler is fine. Dual channel RAM (2x4) will ease the bandwidth bottleneck a bit with almost no extra cost.
