I used to use smplayer and mpc-hc and foobar2000 before vlc 3.0. Now I just use vlc 3.0 for everything.. All the problems I had with it are resolved, and it supports HDR out of the box unlike smplayer and mpc-hc without 3rd party stuff.
That being said I don't watch stupid chinese cartoons.

They fixed hardware acceleration so that's good. I mainly use it for IPTV and ripping videos from places that yt-downloader doesn't support.

Installing vlc on linux is a fucking pain. First of all, it is a huge installation, secondly. they get updates every fucking week. I am not going to install that shit software ever. Why do mpv, mplayer work right out of the box? and they play videos with right colors, contrast and don't fuck up the quality, unlike VLC?

mpv is a decent player but it's a bit too bare-bones for my taste. It doesn't even have basic shit like an update notifier or playback position remembering. I also hate how you have to fuck around with a terminal if you want to change the settings.

I don't know why they haven't found a solution themselves, because as easy as this fix is, some retarded baby doesn't know about it. Every time. But I could easily ask why nvidia is outputting 16-235 by default when the minority of video cards are plugged up to TVs. And I think modern TVs have used full RGB for a while now.

I dont think youve even used it. If you had you would know you dont have to use the terminal to change settings. And it does have "playback position remembering".
As far as auto-update notifiers, I dont want my media player connecting to a server everytime I open it. I can check myself when I feel like updating.

My oneplus one got abandoned pretty early with updates so I flashed lineage os. If project treble on oreo actually fixes the clusterfuck that is updates on android then I probably won't dick around with custom roms anymore because other than updates the default roms do everything I need them to do.

Again, I like it because mpv always you to do more than other players. This is only possible through tinkering and learning something new. Which I enjoy.

Does anyone know how to set playback speed to 1.25x? When you enable the slider, it only lets you choose 1.23x and 1.28x and when you use keyboard shortcuts it's increases in .1 or .5 increments.
