Often imitated, never replicated

First Asus, then LG... who's next?

I don't get this design at all. If you're going to have a bottom bezel like that, why not just replicate it on top? Surely they could've done that and also included their stupid meme frontfacing camera tech.

You do not understand businesses, and how they function.

>Do a SWOT analysis!
>Find the biggest competitor!
>Do what they do!
>Leverage the paradigm shifts into a Web 2.0 SaaS solution! Add MongoDB to it!

They see Apple do "next dumb thing". They see Apple being successful. They think it is a cause-and-effect scenario. They want to replicate Apple's success, so they also replicate Apple "next dumb thing".

If Apple puts a huge hole right in the centre of the phone
>Introducing the new iHole. Fingering the new era.
and everyone said it was the dumbest thing ever, other companies will still copy it.

Things we can thank Apple for:
- removing headphone jack
- non-removable batteries
- no SD card
- no micro HDMI
- fucking fingerprint scanners
- notch screen
- OTA software induced slowdown

How is a whole top bezel better than a partial bezel?

Looks like the notch was just simulated on screen.

>blocks your 3.5mm path
>blocks your notch path

APPLE PACKAGE

FAGDROID
(('))

Are you dumb? Clock and battery are at the same height as the front facing camera and earpiece, it definitely has a notch.

Oh, and the new 1+6 is rumored to have a notch as well, if the leaks turn out to be true.

>first they mock
>then they scramble to imitate
>but they never get a share of the success
>for they were too late and poorly executed and had no real basis

Why do companies keep trying to copy Apple? Its all or nothing, you can't just copy one of the physical traits of a product of theirs, you need to fucking BE Apple to pull this off, and at that point you wouldn't anyway. Where's LG/ANUS' wide array of products working in harmony together with world-class services for music and payments. where's their custom OS which is the basis for their entire product lineup? So much more to add, but its just funny witnessing all this.

>- removing headphone jack
Creates incentive for companies to focus on making better Bluetooth peripherals
>- non-removable batteries
Very few people actually care about that
>- no SD card
See previous
>- no micro HDMI
Ew, what? See previous
>- fucking fingerprint scanners
Face ID is better in nearly every possible way. Even the competition's versions of Face ID are better than fingerprint sensors
>- notch screen
Yeah, it sucks, but it's a compromise design. I don't think that's Apple's dream of. What smartphone displays should be like considering the fact that they did try to put all those sensors under the display for a smaller (or lack of) notch but, eh...it's pretty easy to get over. I think they will try to make it smaller and eventually make it disappear over time, though. Not defending it
>- OTA software induced slowdown
Sweetie, you think Apple invented that? It's a heinous practice but to think Apple is the only company that does it is just naive.

>- OTA software induced slowdown
It's not an OTA slowdown; rather, it's an invisible program that measures how much damage your phone's battery has endured and throttles your phone's performance to avoid unexpected shutdowns. Yes, it sucks, but it's better than having your phone shut off at 30%. Replace your battery and the performance goes right back to normal.

Also, throttling is not a new thing. Not by a long shot.

>Replace your Apple battery

the soy is strong with these ones

>who's next?
apple

Who the fuck asked you faggot? You think removing peripherals is better than having them?

apple brainlet . and i m an iphone SE user , always had iphone sicne the 3gs , but many apple decision are plain stupid and retarded

>Creates incentive for companies to focus on making better Bluetooth peripherals
bluetooth is shit and it will never surpass audio cable
>Very few people actually care about that
i too like to spend 70 euro at apple to get my battery changed , oh wait nvm cause i do it myself , but hey i gotta buy that weird screwdriver cause apple is retarded
>See previous
yes spending 100 euro more for 32 gb more is nice right
>Ew, what? See previous
true i give you that , HDMI on a phone is useless
>Face ID is better in nearly every possible way. Even the competition's versions of Face ID are better than fingerprint sensors
faceID sucks . i want a button on my phone that gets my home from everywhere
>Yeah, it sucks, but it's a compromise design. I don't think that's Apple's dream of. it sucks and that it s . galaxy s8/s9 did it better

>instead of buying an entirely new phone, pay like $30 and your phone will feel run like new for another two years
I don't see what the problem is here.

>bluetooth is shit and it will never surpass audio cable
t. Redditor "audiophile" who has never actually listened to any newer Bluetooth headsets made after 2009
>i too like to spend 70 euro at apple to get my battery changed , oh wait nvm cause i do it myself , but hey i gotta buy that weird screwdriver cause apple is retarded
It's not like you need to get your battery changed every Thursday, Igor.
>yes spending 100 euro for 32 gb more is nice right
Yes. Especially since Android is so locked down nowadays that you can only move very select, minor amounts of data onto a card anyway.
Buy the right size you need and it works out of the box instead of needing to buy the phone + a card, then encrypt the card and make your phone run at half the speed.
>faceID sucks . i want a button on my phone that gets my home from everywhere
t. someone who has never tried Face ID.
It's faster than Touch ID (you can literally just tap the display and your phone awaken and will unlock, similar Touch ID), works for people with psoriasis (the same cannot be said for Touch ID), works through moisture (unlike Touch ID), works in sunshine, rain, darkness, through sunglasses, after you've shaved, works regardless of whether or not you're wearing a hat, etc etc etc.
It's just more reliable, faster and more convenient, not to mention it's more secure.
>I want a button on my phone that gets my home from anywhere
...That exists, you know. That little bar at the bottom of the phone? Drag it up and boom: you're home. Total non-issue.
>galaxy s8/s9 did it better
I beg to differ. Galaxy S8/S9 is literally the same thing as a Galaxy Nexus in terms of user interface. Same thing except bigger, and you can "Pressure Touch" the on-screen home button.
It's basically the same thing.

Welp, guess i'm going back to Samsung for my next phone.

Not him but:
I dont trust niggers at train stations to not just rip bluetooth headphones off of my head.
Also, I've bought a 64GB microSD several years ago ONCE and am still using it, not for apps, only for media

>he thinks wireless will ever sound better than wired
srsly fuck off
>It's not like you need to get your battery changed every Thursday, Igor.
true , but it s still annoying
>t. someone who has never tried Face ID.

it doesn t work in dark places . not everytime anyway , touchid WORKS as well in day night and even if you wear a fucking helmet on your head works , i doubt you can unlock your iphonex while riding a motorbike
>...That exists, you know. That little bar at the bottom of the phone? Drag it up and boom: you're home. Total non-issue.
that s not a button.

what i meant to say with the s8/s9 is the meme notch on top , it s fucking retarded , apple wanted to to SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND BE COOL , but the result SUCKS

>I dont trust niggers at train stations to not just rip bluetooth headphones off of my head.
The fuck is stopping those niggers from just taking your phone anyway, regardless of what headphones you're using?
Thieves are thieves.

Around blacks never relax.
I can put my phone in my pants, but I cant quickly stuff my headphones away

>he thinks wireless will ever sound better than wired
SHOCKER: technologies that kinda suck now sometimes improve in the future. More at 11
There was a time when everyone said, "3.5mm will NEVER sound as good as quarter-inch." But nowadays, there's literally no difference. The technology improved.
Neither of us are psychic, though. We'll just have to wait and see.
>it doesn t work in dark places .
It literally works better in the dark, actually. It works by shooting 30,000 infrared dots onto your face and receiving those dots to scan the depth details of your face. It doesn't use just the normal RGB camera, and because of this, it's a tiny bit slower in broad daylight because it's harder to find those dots. Still pretty quick, though.
>touchid WORKS as well in day night and even if you wear a fucking helmet on your head works
Unless you have psoriasis. Or abnormal fingerprints. Or happen to be wearing gloves.
>i doubt you can unlock your iphonex while riding a motorbike
user...
You really shouldn't be using your phone at all if you're on a motorcycle, regardless of what that phone is. You're putting yourself and others at risk.
>that s not a button.
Same functionality, no physics.
>what i meant to say with the s8/s9 is the meme notch on top , it s fucking retarded , apple wanted to to SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND BE COOL , but the result SUCKS
I'll give you that one.
Although the notch is a pretty good design indicator of where the Notification Center is vs the Control Center. Otherwise, yeah, Samsung wins this round. Although I don't really care for the much bigger bezels on the Infinity Display.

>if it's one of those neck-mounted bluetooth earbuds, just tuck them under your shirt
>if they're AirPods, just put them in your pocket
>if they're giant wireless cans, you're pretty much just as fucked as if they were auxiliary
yeah...the robbery argument just isn't working.
if you're getting robbed, you're getting robbed. sorry.

Company thinks “Apple did it and they made money, so if we do it we’ll make money!”
Turns out that wasn’t the reason Apple made money.

Apple is in the copying loop as well, they were in it from the beginning. It only became more blatant after Jobs died.

It's a closed system where everyone copies each other, and now every phone looks the same and works the same, with only minor differences to set them apart.

The only "innovations" are just OS and hardware changes that make them ever more braindead to use, and make it more addicting.
Either we'll eventually be walking around with small tablets stuffed into our pants, or we'll have the botnet plugged right into our brains.
None of those companies give a shit about innovations for customers, they just want to move products and mine data. For every gimmick added, repairability and user privacy and control is taken away.

Smartphones have been getting more and more powerful every year, but usability has always been about the same, before getting updated into uselessness a year after release.

>Very few people actually care about that
So technology should follow logic or popular opinon of uninformed masses?

What a dipshit excuse to defend apple.

OnePlus

You're retarde

What the fuck?
youtube.com/watch?v=STqHWcw5WlE

Weren't asus the first to remove the head phone jack too after apple did it?

agree with all these except fingerprint sensor. This is actually very useful, but only when implemented on the back instead of the front like Apple did. My Xiaomi 4x has it on the back and its comfy as fuck to unlock by lightly pressing fingering finger there.

I think this is one of the very few instances where we can safely say, "Steve would not have let this happen."
The notch would still be there on the iPhone, yes. But he would sue the pants off of any company that tried to rip it off.

We need to bring back 'thermonuclear' Apple, fast. Turns out the flurry of lawsuits wasn't just good for Apple, it was good for Android's ecosystem as well as a way of stopping retarded shit like this from happening.

Yes, but Apple were actually far from the first to remove the headphone jack. First it was Oppo, then Motorola, then Apple.
And Asus' phone still has the headphone jack, which is why it also has a bottom bezel. Jesus, what a mess.

Yeah really gotta get back to lawsuits cause you have round edges

>round edges
>and a notch
>and a lack of a headphone jack
>and a deliberate almost carbon copycat design

I just don't understand.
The whole point of having a notch is to have no bezel.
So why the fuck would you have a notch on a phone that still has significant bezels or mask the notch by adding a virtual bezel? For what purpose?

how much of a boot licking fanboy in denial do you have to be to pretend these notchfones are not blatant rip-offs of the X whether you like the look or not

Huawey, asus, lg...
Oneplus is rumored to be next
If google and samsung do it too, i'll switch to iPhone.
If i'm forced to have a shit design, might as well get the original...

>Making the phone run at half the speed
But that's wrong, are you so fucking dumb that you're seriously advercating the removal of expandable storage, phones have amazing screens these days for media consumption and gimping yourself to bitstarved streaming services because you can't store more than 2 full movie bluray rips it's just a waste of a good display, USB-OTG more or less matches the speed of a SD card but it's still much more cumbersome than having a nice large SD card in your phone, and you can't charge at the same time without another dongle which is essential because video eats a shitload of battery.

I meant advocating sorry.

theyre doing glass/shiny back too... holy yuck, it feels like we're in 2010 again with these trends

This was scrapped tho
I now understand why

A hole in the centre of the screen doesn't sound too bad if you look at the porn possibilities.
Just sayin'

Not Samsung.

>mfw all the applefags hate on samsung for copying apple but now theyve got most distinctive premium device, and a headphone jack

>be team leader for product
>ocassional bug on the tracker
>everything is fine
>get notification
>lots of bugs being reported
>most of them are related to iphone x screen
>reduce used screen size
>lots complain "not using whole phone"
>no new features because scroll bar has to follow notch edge in landscape mode
really started to hate that thing.
even had to buy one for testing.
at least now we can just use the code with some different parameters

>fucking fingerprint scanners
Eh? I think andoid chinkphones had it earlier. And how is it bad?

It's because of the camera - the notch allows you to extend screen past the camera. It looks gay but if apple got away with it, others want to jump on the bigger screen bandwagon too. Also fool retards that know apple has a notch into buying their products instead.

Long phone is long
