This thread is about the appreciation ofw horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
The clean bezel on that is super slick, is it from meranom?
Evan Wood
I love the dial of the ana digi model, I got the one with numbers, the dial proportions are awesome and the digital dial fits perfectly in there. It wears small, but i dont care. Its just pleasant to look at. Modern watches should be smaller in general, it always looks better, proportion wise.

Nice, Artifice right? Does he regulate them before he ships out? Does it keep OK time?

Christopher Collins
Yeah he does, I paid extra for the 6r15 rather than the 4r35. It ran around +5-10 SPD when I got it because he regulates them slightly fast new so they run in at +5 SPD or less. I also had him ensure that dial/chapter ring/bezel alignment was perfect.
Nicholas Hernandez
yeah the 01k2
Noah Phillips
just got mine today

Fixed the loose cannon pinion on this fucker. At least I hope, I'll see tonight if the date changes, but it's certainly tighter.
It uses a cannon pinion design similar to the ETA 2824 so I'm lucky that I could tighten it at all. On a 2824 it's recommended to just replace it, but that's not an option here, since there are no parts at all for the 0703 Elnix.
Anthony Martinez
i may make this at one point. Do you know what crown and stem your watch maker used?
Regulated 6r15 movement, sapphire crystal, QC'd for dial/chapter ring/bezel alignment.
Carson Johnson
Also I gotta get my messy workbench organized.
This is how it looked in November. I'm not even going to show you how it looks now. And that Horotec mat turned out to be garbage, I replaced it just today with a Bergeon.
Hunter Hall
Can you have that done to an existing SKX, if so how much does it cost?
Andrew Ward
Nothing too fancy, the weather's awful so just a beater today
Jackson Collins
Check his website, yes you can. I inquired a while ago about sending him one. BTW not the guy who had it done.
Logan Thomas
Or $1.50 in f91w batteries ;)
Caleb Lewis
I'm going to try my hand at small projects (casing a movement, switching movement/dial/hands from an existing watch - not touching movements for now). What would you recommend for tools? Can I make do with cheap chinese tools to begin with, or should I pay up for the good stuff right away?
Sebastian Hughes
vs $0 in solar....
Hmmmm?
Easton Kelly
Soyko.
Jackson King
Actually the solar battery will have to be replaced in the same time frame and will cost more.
Elijah Sullivan
Nope
Ethan Taylor
I really like the green dial on this and nothing else about it and have no idea why its so popular.
Brandon Jackson
yup
Benjamin Morgan
Not the user you're responding to but I am a hobbyist and I made the mistake of buying cheap shit first. You really regret it once you get your hands on something good.
What you absolutely need is good tweezers and good screwdrivers. A movement holder and caseback opener will eventually be necessary as well.
Pic related is a movement I got ticking again. The point I am at is that I know how to put it back together but I don't know if I am doing it correct per say, as per best practice. I also need to figure out how to oil them...
Nathaniel Martin
I like the wear. Gives it character.
David Ross
Some tools need to be high quality, some can be chink. But Chinese/Indian tools are a gamble, sometimes they're fine, sometimes they're garbage. Anchor from India seems to be more consistent in their quality though.
Don't skimp on tweezers nor screwdrivers. You don't need Bergeon or AF Swiss or anything, but don't buy the cheapest Ebay garbage either.
And expect to destroy the first few watch movements you get your hands on. It's inevitable.
Xavier Brown
oiling is hard. First time i put one back together i over oiled the pallet jewels and it stopped. I just got a smaller oiler and some mobious and it all works now.
Dylan Stewart
This is excellent advice. Good sharp brass tweezers that are not too soft as well as properly hardened screw driver tips. What i did was buy super cheap screw drivers but i threw all the tips out and replaced them with bergeon tips.
Julian Sanders
>Don't skimp on tweezers nor screwdrivers. >What you absolutely need is good tweezers and good screwdrivers.
If you guys agree, it must be true.
>What i did was buy super cheap screw drivers but i threw all the tips out and replaced them with bergeon tips. Good idea!
Thank you for the advice.
Jaxon Gray
It's pretty old, made in 1980. I've only owned it for 3 years, it was pretty fucked when I chanced buying it on eBay, thankfully it all worked and just needed a clean and new battery/strap
Lincoln Gray
Also save yourself some sanity and get screwdrivers with hexagonal tops (idk what they're called) so they don't roll around on the bench.

You could actually get sent to Guantanamo Bay if you've worn one at the airport in the early 2000s There are few watches so good that people will torture you for it!

I don't think the watch is really tipping point of that list....

Anyone know where I can cop this olympic colours strap?
Elijah Garcia
The SE Amphibia that I wish I owned

I would do bad things to good people for that watch.

So I tried a Datejust today and as a man with a skinny wrist I was quite confident that I would still love it. Just look at this picture of a 36 - it looks absolute perfect!
But man was it just small...
Josiah Bailey
Small is good.
Thomas Brown
>But man was it just small... No. Even on my 7.5" wrists a 36mm pre-maxicase Datejust looks fine.
Jeremiah Thompson
Really loving this Oceanus. Such a good lookign watch.

Do you guys get bored of watches and sell them on? What's the longest you've had a watch for?
Jose Miller
That's all well and good user, but >silver dial You sure you wouldn't prefer a higher contrast dial? I personally just can't handle silver dials with silver/light indices; under direct sunlight it makes it all very hard to see, not to mention lowlight. Still, the black dial's a bit too utilitarian for a DJ, isn't it? That leaves what, blue?
Christopher Wilson
I still have all the watches I bought. I'm probably going to sell my Luch at some point, I never wear it anymore. The novelty wore off pretty quick. I regret not having gotten the white dial.
Isaiah Jenkins
I'm basically selling everything I have currently, but only for profit, which takes long. I have like 3 that I am not selling currently.
Thomas Bailey
I'm a big seller of watches. I get bored easily and can't find that perfect watch. The closest I came to finding "the one" was a Speedmaster replica... I Guess I should start saving for the real thing.
