I'd like to see what it would be like if it were decentralized, with proof of work being required for each post. Something like bitmessage, but with message propagation through something other than a flooding algorithm.

It would be nice if there were DLC packs I could buy. Cool hats and such, you know.

I’d like to have seen an IOS first approach desu.

Kill iShills
Kill generals

Ban Apple user agents.

forced user

Upvotes and forced tripcodes.

>Self host captcha
>lapis backend

thats all really. If you have a pass and disable js its a pretty good site

I'd give each message a fingerprint derived from their PC hardware.

Make it hard to shill.

I would build Sup Forums as a VR client where boards are visualized as a different floors of a skyscraper. anons are represented as sexless mannequin shapes

My D600 :(

>sexless

NOTHING HAS CHANGED

>Bayesian spam filtering.
>Instead of boards have topics/tags assigned to threads that you can filter for, e.g. /linux+prog/ instead of Sup Forums

Remove Captcha

Built--in 4chanX
Own/No CAPTCHA
Ban soyposters/ishills/crapple useragents/everyone from israel
And GPLv3'd for freedoms to mah anons :3

enable audio for webms on Sup Forums. It's not too late, kind of ridiculous that a board for tv and film doesnt have sound

Self-Host captcha
Phoneposting banned. Can still view from phone.
Math equations as captcha on /sci/, including increasing difficulty like regular captcha has.
Same thing on Sup Forums, except you also have a choice of doing programming puzzles (probably in some made-up language interpreted on the user end) as captchas.
Forced anonymous, but ID's included in every board.

Not an implementation change, but:
Blacked threads, pedo threads, shitposting threads, youtube celeb threads, etc banned on /ck/ and Sup Forums instead of staying up for 400 posts every single time all day around when five of them are active, actual threads talking about movies or tv stop getting nuked by the autistic retard mods.

Also webm with sound on everyboard because no sound is a retarded idea

i guess i'd force ephemeral tripcodes/ids on all boards. but i don't think Sup Forums is salvageable without fundamental changes that would make it not Sup Forums anymore. it's been in the gutter ever since groups like stormfront actively organised to shill their politics here, thereby flooding every board with cancer.

You forgot allowing VP9

oh also i would make sage default and give people a limited number of bumps (globally) per IP per day.

Oh right

Actual mods that do actual work. Throw out the "janitor" retarded idea and just get a fucking army of mods destroying cancerous threads 24/7/365.

Shilling would not be a problem if the mods could stop sucking dicks for a while and ban the threadshitters.

I would neuter the moderators so they can't delete every thread that triggers their delicate sensibilities.

Enable country flags on all boards and remove the ability to hide behind meme flags.

This but only for Indian ip's

I like this

Really don't like this; it will just spread Sup Forums's cancerous culture into other boards even more

I think format rules shouldn't be there in the first place. Allow the filetype to be uploaded and check for basic conformance, that's all. Let anons handle what encoding to use themselves.

Make mods diverse they all crackers now who delete every single thread I make

Range ban India, Israel, and Canada.

>give people a limited number of bumps (globally) per IP per day
Any limits done on a per IP address basis will only encourage users to use proxies.

Force people to create accounts if they want to post anything, rework the ui, add upvotes and downvotes, add 4chin gold, hire chink and nigger mods to increse eauality quota, ban animu and frog posters, merge /mlp/ and Sup Forums permanently

return the computer at once, jamal

Better video support
IPFS

and USA

blockchain for messages
reward tokens for (you)s

local clients mark which threads they want to save permanently, so they don't have to download the entire history of Sup Forums

a way to filter posts/threads, use machine learning so I never ever see a tranny ever again in my life

hash the pictures, so there's no duplicates and when you blacklist a picture, you never see it again

pay volunteers to moderate, a bit like steemit
mods can be demodded if they lose support of user community

let OPs moderate their own threads and remove troublemakers/spammers trying to shit them up

a way to find similar threads based on thread title, it would be handy for stopping old news from being reposted and seeing developments on a certain topic

just I'm not sure what should be done if someone gets doxed through it, how do you pull their personal info off the board? lets say a bunch of antifa dox someone innocent and try to do another witchhunt, guess we'll just have to trust the mods as we do now

just hide all their posts locally if you're too much of a pussy to read their posts

I'd move it away from a PHP-based stack, that's for sure.

I don't think I would allow images larger than 2k in resolution on most boards, except for the wallpapers ones. It's pointless and it costs too much to allow autists to upload 4k pics of their battlestations.

holy fuck an actual redditor

>encouraging bait posts

should I remove all the new lines and spaces to make you retards happy? each bit is addressing a different point

I'd enable audio webms for every board and increase general file capacity to 5 MB. Then I'd allow you to upload multiple files and change the captcha so that you only have to fill it out every 10 posts you make.

trolling is an entertaining artform, so why not get paid for (you)s
why else are you here?

Technically, for a post like that one, Reddit spacing is acceptable and maybe even helpful.
Also, not every single thing that could possibly be vaguely associated with Reddit is a bad thing, user.

an imageboard is a really simple concept. Sup Forums doesn't even implement threading!

I'd write it in Haskell

https

No dependency on google, no feeding the global botnet.

trivially defeated by a vm

Not a good idea - you'll miss out on a lot of related subjects you never thought to search for

Sup Forums is bad because of spam and marketers, not because of shitposters.

Make it like sadpanda

you mean Sup Forums's cancerous culture

Sup Forums didn't use to have any flags at all, Sup Forums was the board that got them first

>you'll miss out on a lot of related subjects you never thought to search for
Threads would be created with popular tags naturally, since OP wants people to see his thread.
And a tag cloud or similar would offer a good overview.

why not perl?

First biggest problem on Sup Forums: Marketers
Second biggest problem on Sup Forums: Spammers

Both of them achieve one thing only: drowning out actual discussion with their loudmouths. Find a way to silence spammers and marketers without affecting normal users or forcing them to deanonymize themselves and you've literally saved Sup Forums.

I'd take something from futaba and put thread-based poster IDs
The OP can toggle if the thread has IDs shown or not

Sup Forums has this, and you can highlight posts made by id, it's great, also means so replying to yourself which is fun to do on Sup Forums to make it seem like there's more people who like X over Y

Add upvotes and downvotes

I used to think this was a good idea, but it just enourages hivemind like in reddit
and with the amount of shills and spammers, it will be easily abused

replies are the up/down votes, non replies are idgaf

Steal the number 8's captcha system.

Self hosted captchas, no js and open sores the site

Multiplayer flash games

Forced lurking period for newfags, implemented through an outwardly invisible account system that tracks how many hours and how many threads you've read.

Prevent phoneposting if possible, or at least make it a hassle.

Ban tripshitters who tripshit without a good reason.

>Have mods that enforce board rules and remove stuff that doesn't belong on a board, like BLACKED/tranny porn instead of the threads that hurt their feelings.
>Keep board culture contained to a board. /mlp/ spills over very rarely and is usually dealt with quickly if it does, while Sup Forums can be found everywhere. Some edgy humor doesn't hurt, but I don't like seeing politics on a board meant for fitness for example.
>Ban Canadians.
>Ban tripniggers that tripnigger without having a good reason to.
>Give OPs more control over threads they create. Allow them to remove derailers if enough people agree, so that they can't just delete everything that hurts their feelings.
>Force lurking period of two years before posting (can depend on the board).

jesus christ

And I forgot mentioning 4chanX and oneechan funtionality, would to see it on here by default.

you mean get rid of tripcodes? Sup Forums is mostly anonymous on most boards but I never really had a problem with tripcodes as I don't tend to look in that field anyways. I just read a comment and move on.

Permanent spooky theme. Auto play music. Ban phone posters.

Bring back visible sage at least on /jp/, and remove autonoko.

Also, just for fun, I want to make a temp board where you can edit any two posts (max. 50 characters) per day.

This is a good idea.

Remove (you)s.

We're not in 2009 anymore, man. There's no tripfag problem.

If I had to implement it today I'd probably use Java and postgres. I chose Java because I'm a Boring Enterprise Cube Drone, and postgres because I'm not paying for Hana.

I'd store images right on the file system, named by their hash.

I like the way a rest endpoint looks in Java, and I'd probably use retrofit to get a free Android app out of it. Since I'm doing that, might as well have endpoints speak protobuf too.

This is how you get Sup Forums banned or surveiled at the state level.

This is how you make a shittier Reddit.

I agree with this assessment. Any suggestions?

I would like to not need custom filters in uBlock just to view the catalog on Sup Forums without exposing myself to digital AIDS. I put up with it for a while but the catalog is far too useful.

Says you. My filter gets more entries every day.

Kill Sup Forums and use the power of nepotism to amass an army of angry left-leaning mods to scrub the remnants out of any boards they continue to pop up in for a bit

>Ban phone posters.

I can get behind this if your motivation is pic related.

Just remove the Name field, it serves no purpose other than attention whoring. Trips on the other hand are useful to stop trolls from messing with someone that is delivering information to a thread.

99% of the ideas ITT are complete shit. Maybe Moot wasn't as retarded as I thought and thankfully ignored anyone who ever suggested anything.

Why are there so many people who hate simplicity? "Make blockchain based so we're truly anonymous and can post cp!" "Add upvotes!" "Add sub-boards!" "Forced tripcodes!" "Forced flags!"

All of these ideas are shit and Sup Forums would have never gained popularity if any of these were ever implemented originally.

I don't think he was talking about the 'reddit spacing'. He was likely talking about the ideas themselves, which are super Reddit.
>he is on his phone so he doesn't realize that he can already filter threads
>no duplicate pictures (kills the possibility of any memes)
>pay volunteers to moderate
>let OPs literally delete thread replies (this is the most Reddit idea ITT)
>search function, he doesn't know about archive and ctrl+f, wants Reddit posts with 1000s of comments

What you want is called Reddit.

Disallow posting from phone

The only changes I would make would be in optimization/efficiency. Make pages and pictures load quicker, allow for larger file sizes etc. I'd maybe MAYBE experiment with minor scripting/formatting/etc in threads/posts beyond what we have now, but that would probably blow up in my face

I would also try to figure out a way to allow for entire folders or multiple pictures to be uploaded in a secure manner for everyone that still looks clean.

People should just stop with fucking blockchains.

>only allow webM's to be posted on /wsg/, /gif/,Sup Forums
>webM's are only allowed to be posted with audio enabled
>All webM enabled boards will have a 15MB limit on file size
>All other boards will only allow images and a 500KB size limit
>Full VP9 compatibility
>Ability to post multiple images in the same post

>let OPs moderate their own threads and remove troublemakers/spammers trying to shit them up
Great ideas save for this one.

>Self-Host captcha
This 100%. I'd implement one similar to what Slashdot has been using successfully for years

>Math equations as captcha on /sci/, including increasing difficulty like regular captcha has.
Fuck off I'm math-illiterate.

>and UK

ftfy.

Just do what the spammers would do, feed it to wolfram alpha

this plus stop using recaptcha botnet

But we already have reddit

>all these people complaining about the captcha

There is already a solution:
Sup Forums.org/pass

>simple text a refrigerator could solve
Might as well not use anything.

Make your refrigerator do it then, faggot

the first thing I would do is remove RMS's disgusting Jewish face from Sup Forums's headpage

Uninstall gentoo

Like vola?

I would ensure that everyone who wanted to access Sup Forums had to pay 100 dollars a year

lowtax detected

Trivially beaten by the telltale uuid patterns of generated vm hardware identifiers.
