ITT: Things normies say thread about music that upset you

>listening to a song
>wow, how do you listen to such long songs user?
>song is 5:51 seconds long

>but ... If you like emo how can you hate MCR??? they're like.. the pioneers of emo

>album is from 90s
>"oh I don't listen to old music"

That alone pissed me off

>I love music

>oh cool, do you have a favourite album?

>oh I only really listen to songs

>I like this

>playlist

By extension
>"Radiohead is my favourite band"/"Beyoncé is my favourite singer"
>yeah I heard their new album what did you think
>"oh I don't listen to albums"

literally makes me an autism

that sentence upsets me

confession time: i listen to playlists a lot

I was talking with my friend who is apparently a "big music fan" and I found out that he only listens to music through shitty apple earphones. When I asked him why, he said that he doesn't wear over ears because they look bad when you wear them outside. I know this sounds autistic but I was genuinely angry

me too user, me too. I think it's fun making playlists

this happened to me once

>listening to "Escape Velocity" by The Chemical Brothers
>friend asks what i'm listening to
>show them phone screen as its less awkward
>friend sees length
>12:00
>friend never been the same again

>claims to like a group
>only has their greatest hits album

oldest trick in the book

>"I'm into *genre*"
>Now! That's What I Call *genre*

>"i like electronic music"
>play boards of canada
>"c'mon user put on something we all know"

does this really happen?

unfortunately

A few days ago I sent my best friend a link to a Billy Holiday piece. He literary replied with
>>an old worn out american song
>Are you sure you didn't intend to send this to someone else?

Well, yea user, playlists are fine. But if you just don't listen to albums at all, and only single songs; then you're the worst kind of pleb

>tell them that I don't listen to much of the top 40
>"not everyone listens to 60s classical, weirdo"
>60s classical
>60s
>classical

I have a big spotify playlist so that when I don't know what to listen to, I shuffle it until I find a track I like. Then I listen to that track's album.

ffs user

>Billy Holiday piece
can you really blame him though

>European power metal is better than Japanese power metal

I remember in high school during my scene-kid prime. I was listening to Damn Regret by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus out loud (makes me cringe a little). One of the "rich normie" kids said something like: "How can you listen to stuff like that when you're not angry?"

> inb4 I was angry all the time

What the fuck is wrong with her?

>what kind of music do you like?
>everything except rap and country

have you ever seen a normie in real life

crawl out of your hobbit hole some day

>not liking John Cage and Stockhausen

Just kidding user, I know the feel

>a piece from the 60s
>1760s, that is

this kills me everytime i hear this shit

i've never understood and i never will

this upset me so much

>Discussing music with cute grill
>Suggest album she might like
>"Oh I don't listen to albums, just CD's and on my phone"

I only reason I still have apple earbuds is because I'm a poorfag.

>"I like all kinds of music"
>puts on Herb Alpert
>"What is this, coffee shop music?"

underrated post

Your friend is a poser, you even can get better earbuds then those pieces of shit for like $50

>listening to sludge metal
>flatmate asks what I'm listening to
>play it for him
>"oh I hate screamo"
nigga what

One of my coworkers face was priceless when he asked what I was listening. I was listening Dopesmoker by Sleep (good background noise) and showed him it was a hour long song.
It was like his mind could not comprehend it. Sort of person who'd probably got bored to death listening some meager 10 minute song by Electric Wizard or something.

Kill yourself my man

>my mom: the voices in this sound "auto-corrected."

>Posting filthy meme
Kys

Eh, can't blame parents for stuff like that. And it kind of means the same thing.

>anyone who says " *band* ruined *genre* "

>Oh you listen to hardcore?
>So like Metallica and AC/DC?

>this isn't even real music, it's trash!
>where's the drop?
>where's the guitar solo?
nigga I ain't even mad

>"How can you listen to heavy music, it all sounds the same!"
>Listens to the same song 10 times in a row

Fucking hell this is it, this is probably the worst thing many normies do, and they'll never see that they do it

Kek'd

>I'm so emo lmaoooooooooo
>Only listens to MCR, Pierce The Veil, Black Veil Brides
Literally kills me

>"Wow, you listen to weird music"
>News of the World

ok so this is what happened to me
when i was like younger and when BMTH was still kinda new.
>be me
>have an older sister who just passed emo stage
>my logic doesn't exist
>she gives me iPod
>pretty dece, some good songs on there
>I hated metal because i never heard a word they said
>find a BMTH song
>"Can you feel my heart"
>we get into a car to go to the movies and I'm using the iPod
>"Do you like metal user"
>I hate metal
>Start playing BMTH and humming to it
>sister looks at me like i'm autistic

>I don't listen to albums, just CD's
wut??

That's funny.

>I prefer to just put iTunes on shuffle, y'know, I can't listen to a full album without getting bored haha

>where's the drop?

oh fuck i lost it

I'm an experienced professional musician, I want a single one of you retards to explain why listening to individual songs off of a studio album is a bad thing.

"this is boring"

i'm hoping this day never happens

It's not
Doing it every single time is

This is literally a Sup Forums meme, if it's not a concept album there is absolutely no reason why you're supposed to listen to it consecutively in one sitting.

>why is this not in english?

Explain why.

FUCK OFF WEEB

I literally saw on some dude Myspace page many years ago:

"I like Rap, Country, and .. Rock!"

Albums are boring af mate...

and with individual favorite songs you don't have filler and low points

And?

>says music they like is "on their playlist" or will get put there

>show song
>person talks frequently throughout the track
>"i like it, it was good user"

that's an abominable thing to say, user.

If you are going to say you like just about anything, just say " I like just about anything"

it could be any language, why did you assume japanese

what's mcr?

There are genres outside of rock, rap and country.

the pioneers of emo

not for mainstream plebs like this guy fully was

Just to be clear, all of you feel strongly about this, not one of you have been able to answer this question. You are parroting a meme that you got from Sup Forums it's completely fucking meaningless. People made you feel insecure for not thinking like they do, despite the fact that it's total nonsense.

This is If you really like music or a particular artist, wouldn't you want to hear all of their output?
As in, not just the 4-5 songs that come on the radio or show up in your YouTube suggestions.

And besides, I do generally think that albums are a more immersive way to listen to music.

>"DUDE THE TOP 40'S IS GARBAGE I LISTEN TO WEIRD MUSIC"
>literally listens to Nickelback
i have a friend who does this

underrated

>cuts the song off in the first 30 seconds because didn't hear a voice yet
s-still not mad or anything...

reminds me of
>"I don't like music without vocals"

...

"Just wear one ear"

Neat... I think vocals bring you out of the experience and are generally stupid

>exposing your power level to the outside world
>not just putting on good pleb music like Radiohead when friends are around

There is nothing wrong with listening to single tracks. But some albums are actually better when you listen to them in one sitting, and if a person doesn't even have enough patience/curiosity/attention span to sit through around 1h of music, than the person is unfortunately a huge pleb (which "i don't listen to albums" kinda implies)

You're moving the goalposts.

The people here are implying that listening to individual tracks off of a studio album are missing a huge part of the artistic meaning.

Little do you retards know, when artists made studio albums, they put together INDIVIDUAL songs together that are full pieces on their own. It is not designed, conceived or written as one piece.

This board is fucking packed with non-musical retarded children who have absolutely no idea how music works, how to make it, and have 0 experience making music itself.

>hey man, have you heard of this band called Death Grips?
>yeah, they're okay, I guess. why do you ask?
>well I just thought they were pretty catchy. I heard them on NPR

> I heard them on NPR

>NPR

No, it means you just want to listen to individual tracks off that album. The large majority of albums are not made as one piece.

I'm responding to what I was pulled up on, in the context of the post I made, but okay. Remain in mad, family.

This one is enraging.

> oh I don't really listen to bands, I just have like one song from a bunch of different people on my ipod

>listening to a song from 2010
>"why are you listening to such old music"

>listening to something instrumental
>"this is so boring, where are the words?"

>listening to gy!be
>"nobody wants to hear your screamo shit"

Never tell anyone you listen to emo

There is 0% chance they know what you're talking about

>i literally love dubstep
>puts on skrillex

so then he doesn't like "just about everything"..

he likes rap, rock, and country

therefore he said so

why are you mad

radiohead are the perfect center between pleb and patrish.

told girl at work i was going to a gig that night
>"but what do you do there?"
>you watch the artist and listen to the music
>"what, just listen? thats really boring"
>do you not listen to music then?
>"oh yeah, i watch the x factor!"
