Just learned web developers can make minimum $60k in my state. Where do I start Sup Forums? I thought JavaScript was evil.

Be Indian.

>Where do I start?
Silicon valley, or Manhattan where cost of living is twice that

Web developers in SV or NYC will be making at least 120k.

wow then you can actually afford to rent your own apartment

based californian checking in. feels good to live in the center of the modern world.
what state do you live in op?

You can afford to rent your own apartment and have 50k a year left over to spend or invest on whatever the fuck you want.

Not OP but do you think selflearning web development is worth it?

Wouldn't it be better to learn Java or C# for better jobs?

Meanwhile I'm living like a fucking King in Texas over here making 120k after taxes as a lead developer. I own 5 acres of beautiful Hill Country land, have access to water on my property, have a growing collection of firearms and a smoking hot wife.

Only downside is it gets fucking hot here but if you're not a soyboy that's not a problem

Do you enjoy coding?
I don't know if I should get into networking, system admin. security or actually just straight developing...

I think (and I've heard and read) that coding for long can be soul crushing.

you live with your parents and you beat off to tranny porn.
it's not a problem.

>can make

lol you wont but

don't care webdev sucks.

No i don't enjoy it anymore to be honest. I have no desire to program in my free time anymore which is why I've taken a much greater interest in traditional hobbies like beekeeping, gardening, and raising goats on my property. I find that much more fulfilling than my work.

It is soul crushing. I've been in the industry 17 years now, which means I'm a crusty old fuck. Just like any other job, it's the people that suck the most. As a lead developer 80% of my job now is just managing other people and providing architectural direction.

If you actually enjoy programming as a hobby I would leave that at the door if you start work as a developer.

>Be web developer
>Make £28,000 ($38,000) in my area
>Considered about average
I'm swimming in cash user, you should give it a shot

Do you live in fucking Estonia? In the US that's barely above the poverty line

>pounds
>estonia
Are you retarded user

>comparing entry level positions to a lead developer position
A lead developer would get 500k a year in the valley.

Ok so my point stands, in bingbongistan that's barely enough to live off of in any city.

Yeah and they'd be dead at 55 from a massive heart attack from all the stress they put you through over there. When I'm at work I'm available, but when I leave my phone is off and I don't answer emails. Finding a place that will let you do this in the valley is laughable

The thing is that I don't even enjoy doing it as a hobby, kek. That's why I am pretty sure I'd hate working as that over the long run.
On the other hand, I like challenges, when things work after you've put work into them, and all, but I don't think it'd be fulfilling enough if I did it as a living gig.

So... networking, etc it should be then. I think programming light stuff would be more satisfying in my case. I've always been in front of a computer, am tech savvy and all, but I have never had the will to program or make my own shit (my programming friends do, so they've studied software development).

I started at 35k, but that was back in the year 2000 so not really comparable. I know that level 3 college hire devs here start at 60k now, and will quickly advance to 85k if they're not retarded.

I don't overspend on shit like food, beer & video games, and I own a house. Everything's cheap if you live in Wales instad of Central London (although I'd probably earn around £40k in London)

Nice try. They would have enough money to buy your shitty farm in flyover land and retire for life after 5 years.

Hey britfag m8. Is it too hard to get into web development here in the UK?
I think I'm gonna try to net a system admin or an IT helpdesk job first, cause I am working at a shitty hotel getting paid 8 ph....

Problem's that I have no studies or experience, but I can do the job if they give me the chance. So I need to figure out how to fake it.. I might make a fake webpage to show it as if it was the "business" I used to work for (so they contact it via email and I respond).

Idk what to do to net one of these jobs, honestly.

And yet what do they all do? They work themselves into the grave sleeping and showering in the Google locker rooms. They spend every dollar they have chasing that eternal treadmill. I'm about to retire at age 42 with the Roth ladder and a net worth of $2.1m.

Its development or programming you fucking faggot.

However if you're into webdev, you don't know any better but you're still a faggot

Webdev will die out because the amount of faggots coming to the industry.

Moved to programming STM32 waiting for webdev to crash.

>you own a house
Lucky you. I have to pay rent and it's killing me ;_;

I'm in Cheltenham. Next week are the horse races... and I'll have to eat shit at work I suppose.

Do people commute from Wales to London? I've never been over there so I'm unfamiliar with the distances. I'm guessing it's like 3-4 hours one way?

>I thought JavaScript was evil
>falling for this meme

Also, look at this "learn js and earn 300k/sec" meme got into youth heads. Big corporations are purposely doing this because they don't want to pay big salaries to developers.

That's why you have women IT studies, niggers IT studies, retards IT studies, etc. Don't fall for web development meme. You will be left without a job in 5 years.

The problem is with this shitty "let's teach everybody to program". These courses create thousands of shitty web developers which then swarm every adequate IT communities and projects.

Look at all these speakers, all these "IT evangelists" - what do they actually create as a programmers? Dumb JS frameworks which only purpose is to hype everything up? They've swarmed FreeBSD community, they've swarmed Rust community, they've swarmed mozilla community. This shit need to be thrown out of the IT sphere, their job is to make web shops, not operating systems.

Trains to London take around 2 hours. Some absolute madmen do commute from Wales to London, but an annual ticket between those two is like £13k, so there's literally no point unless you somehow bagged an insane-paying job there
It's doable. Learn from home (millions of online courses are available), make a portfolio, get critics to view your work. You may have to suffer the horrors of an internship, but after that year is over, you'll start accumulating both money & experience. Most mid/senior-level don't give a fuck about your education, experience is crucial after that

>other people are doing it so you have to too!
One of my coworkers just retired and he's 29. Had 3mil in the bank.

Hey that's great, more power to them. All I'm saying is that if you accept work in the valley you need to understand that your life will belong to whatever company you work for as long as you're there. You won't have a life

>$60k
Is that supposed to be a lot? My dad makes more than that and he's just a regular office cuck.

I'd give my left nut to make that much....
In my town, that's the equivalent of about 100k though.

Sounds good. What about trying to get a system admin job?
How would you do it? I'm gonna start learning about it (powershell, windows server, some bash, active directory...) but I still don't know how to fake experience from that. I mean, they'll ask for a reference number to call... Hence why I'd like to create a webpage regarding a fake business to trick them into believing that's the enterprise I worked for before.

1800 for a belt? What's it made out of, newborns?

>all that money spent on clothes
>couldn't be assed to buy a decent pistol
Glockfaggots fuck off.
