My thinkpad x220 is 7 years old but I bought it this year because I can't afford a new laptop.

I have a Thinkpad T410, which was released in 2010, so 8 years old.
I bought it second hand probably 4-5 years ago.

I don't use it very often, but it gets the job done.

got my msi cx41 in 2013/2014
msi gs60 in 2016
e6410 in april 2017
t440s in jul 2017
the next new laptop i buy will be a raven ridge thinkpad

~2011 Acer 5820TG, intel Processor with ATI Graphics. Great laptop

5th gen X1 carbon, 1 year old
also use a Acer C720 chromebook which is going on 5 years, aging quite well

5 (6) years, 2013 MBP (non-retina so technically 2012 model). Upgraded RAM and added SSD so it's okay.

My Lenovo G50-80 isn't that old, it's a few years old so it's not ancient. It still feels old, though. It's got a i7-5500U CPU which I just blindly assumed was a 4 thread CPU when I bought it on sale. It's just two cores (four threads). The i5's in new laptops are much, much faster. That's not really strange since those are four core parts.

On a funny little note, the laptop was on a sale at a bargain price with 4 GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD. I've since replaced that one RAM stick with 2 8 GB's and a 512 GB SSD. I've also replaced the shitty fHD TN screen with a fHD IPS. So it's kind of decent and fine for a laptop.. but the CPU could be faster - and you can't just replace that part.

10yo c2d sony vaio

>2012 was 6 years ago
Fucking kill me.

Same but mine's mid 2012, also same upgrades. Pretty good one

I have a Thinkpad T400, the model was released in 2008.

With an SSD and 8GB of RAM it runs like a dream. Mine has an HD3470 as well, so I can even fuck around with some older/indie games. I hope the day never comes when a C2D is no longer powerful enough to browse the net.

The only real downsides are the fact that the battery only holds a 20 second charge and the screen resolution, while glorious 16:10, is fairly low (1280x800).

I have an x220 on the way with 8gb of ram and and SSD.
Bought it so I can start to learn math and program in another room so I don't get distracted in the one with my desktop.

2012 non-retina MBP is actually pretty good. Fairly cheap since it's old, yet Ivy Bridge is more than enough for most people. Still over priced compared to Thinkpads but if you need Core Audio or something, it's a good set up.

Throw some RAM and an SSD in there, seems nice. I still prefer Thinkpads because of the durability and low cost, but I don't hate the upgradeable MBPs.

Just got meself a EVGA SC17; this thing has great specs and is built like a brick.

Idk like 11 years?

My actual laptop is 9 years old. Can't use it because the memory's corrupt. I'm just going to buy one with a broken screen and swap them out unless I find a nice deal on a working one. In the meantime I'm using a 7 year old laptop.

I have the same laptop, but it's ususable and collecting dust due to both the hard drive failing and the power socket no longer receiving a charge.
I even had the same missing key due to my old dog (rip) getting overexcited and ripping it out while jumping on my lap
it was a surprisingly good laptop, I remember it ran kde4 and unity pretty well

Got this piece of crap 17" Dell Inspiron n7110 back in 2011. I've already changed the fan and the keyboard once, and added 4GB ram (for a total of 8GB, max supported). Battery is nearly dead, so it's constantly on the charger now. That computer had nearly 100% uptime for nearly 5 years now, and I think my HDD (~700GB 5400rpm) will go next.

Still, had some great time playing WoW and CS on it back in the day.

Here's an idea. Lets revive the bbs board era of the internet. A completely minimalistic area of the internet.

10 years and still running great bitches

About 8 months. Speccy related.

Asus UX310 1 year
Previous oneAsus U36 was 6 years old.
Replaced it because the battery was dying, still using HDD, tired of TN screen and I have some money to spare

Lenovo u430, bought in October 2013 and still running great

Going on 6 years; Asus G75VW. I want something newer though. I bought it when I traveled a bunch so investing in a """""gaymin"""""" laptop wasn't as bad of an idea. Now that I've settled down and have a proper desktop, I want something like an Ultrabook.

Attached: asus g75vw.jpg (640x480, 20K)

3 months. my older samsung (on the left) was 4 years old when i replaced it.

Attached: Desk.jpg (4032x3024, 1.96M)

About 5 years, and it was just a cheap netbook, like $200 back then. But it works alright for laptop stuff.

My MacBook Pro (Early 2011) 13 inch is 7 years old. I hate Apple's products but I got it for free as a gift and just put linux on it anyways and was pretty decent for school so can't complain too much. After that I got a Desktop and had no need for a laptop since so that was my last laptop.

Thinkpad sl 510, so i guess almost 9 years old

Came out last October. Bought mine in late January.

7 year old T420

2008 T400 here, too, bought from a company that took good care of them. Mine is Intel graphics, but 1440x900. Apparently they used their laptops for CAD or something and all of them were high-res for the time. I'm happy I snagged this one, but in retrospect I should have also bought a 1680x1050 15 incher from them.

Nice. Mine was out of action for a while after I acquired a hand me down macbook in good working order but after that gave up the ghost Dell got dusted off and a reformat etc and it goes great.
That damn backspace key tho.

do you actually hate apple's products? or do you hate their pricing and ideology? because using and enjoying apple hardware and then saying you don't actually like it on here sounds like a weak person thing to do

Mi Book Air, 0.5 year old, basically never used. Thinkpad X200, ? Years old

How's the Mi Book?

Almost the exact same. So cheesed about the 8th gen quad cores and the mx150 upgrade vs the 940mx.

9 yr old c2d lenovo g550
replaced motherboard early last year
good to shitpost for another couple of years at least.

bought a system in june last year - 7700k, 16GB RAM, 1050ti

i'm good till 2022 at least

Explain further please, I'm buying a new laptop and researching both those GPUs and the difference between 7th and 8th gen? Is it big?

6-7 years. I really like the size, and wish I could get something similar with more ram and a 1080p screen, instead of the ultrabook style crap

Attached: 703458.jpg (600x450, 71K)

Pretty good, keyboard is Crisp.

Thinkpad R400, so around 10 years old.

VAIO DUO 13
it's' like a bad marriage, awkward top heavy tablet meets laptop that can't be used on your lap
made in .jp tho, can't beat the build quality even if the design is insane

Attached: duo13.jpg (1958x1101, 163K)

fuck meant to add going on 5 YEARS

X200t, so about 10 years old. Threw in an SSD and 4GB of RAM and she works great, even though the battery is literally dead and is confined to an area near a power outlet...

I've got the early 2013 model (the first retina one iirc) - bought it a fucking week before the cunts released the mid-2013 one that almost doubled battery life (no choice though, I had to travel that week and had no laptop so I had to buy what was available...)

Thing's feeling its age now but I hate everything else too much to replace it

5 years old Lenovo g500s. The casing is falling apart. It is mostly my fault though.

About 3 years old now. Bought a Toshiba Chromebook 2 in early 2015. Still works well. Battery still gives 10+ hours on a charge and the screen is still gorgeous. Those are the only 2 things I really care about for mobile computing/note taking. Unless you're an architect going to the site and need to do real time CAD stuff or a programmer who compiles heavily on the go, low power is best.

Dell Latitude 7490, had it for a couple of months now. No problems, sturdy build and clean design, nice 1080p screen and great performance too.

Perfect for everyday use.

Holy shit. It's eleven years old, I hadn't even realized!

I am still posting from Apple II

>Released: June 22, 2005
It's dying... touchpad freaks out, hdd broke so I'm running Linux off of CF card through USB reader... Wifi sometimes drops out... Can't afford a new one.

Main Laptop: 6 years old
Backup Laptop (I'm using this one): 8 years old

X220 around 7 years old but I picked one up last year for $100

With 16gb of ram and a 250gb ssd, it runs just about everything that isn't a game pretty well. Will probably upgrade to an x250 or so when those start going for $100

Fuck me, I forgot to state their models

Main: MSI CX480 (pictured)
i5 2410m 2.3 GHZ, 8 GB Ram, nVidia GeForce GT520m, Xubuntu 16.04.3 LTS

Backup: MSI CR420
i3 330m 2.13 GHZ, 4 GB Ram, Intel HD, Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

Main laptop's HDD failed. I'm going to get an SSD once I'm done with my exams.

Get a fucking job!

I have a job

No reason to spend $1000 on a laptop if you know exactly what your computing needs are

I have a job you fucking kid.

7 years old, came stock with 120gb ssd, 8gb ram and i5.

Bought it used for $80 a month ago.

Sony Vaio Flip. Bought near the end of the brands european tennure, so it is 4 years old.

poor people should look for a job and not waste their time on Sup Forums

No wonder you're unemployed.

4 months.

I'm still looking for a (permanent) job. I'm a freelancer by night and a computer repairman (my parents' business) by day.

I have a T420 that's about seven years old, but I've only had it for about nine months myself. Bought it for a full $200 after my Surface Pro 4 died and I kind of swore off modern devices entirely. It's pretty great so far. Screen resolution's not great but I got the 900p panel, so it's not too much of an issue. I cum buckets pretty much every time I type which is good since it's most of what I'm doing on it. Also a joy to open up the few times I've needed to, totally living up to the Thinkpad reputation there and in build quality.

Except I am you stupid neckbeard. I just have other more important expenses. Not that you'd understand since mommy still does your laundry.

4-5 months

I've got the base MBP 2017, and I'm considering selling it, the keyboard issues where the computer needs $700 repair if a dust gets under the keycap does worry me.

Trouble is, I'm not sure what to replace it with, I'm used to the GOAT display, and don't want to downgrade that part of the laptop.

asus.com/Laptops/ASUS_VivoBook_S451LA/

many screws fell out through time, but still goes on and on, refusing to be put into the asus pot.

that would hardly qualify as a laptop

Asus G55vw - about 6 years
hp g4-1215dx - 7 or 8 years
Alienware m11x r1 - 8 years
acer ZG5 - 10 or so years

T420: Feb, 2011
I just corebooted it and put an ivy-bridge i7 in and it works fantastic. I will soon replace the screen with a 1080p one and then I'll probably be set until I die :)

mine is 5 months old.

i bought mine a few months ago
>tfw spent 180€ on a Thinkpad T420
>nowadays there are X230 for 140€ on ebay

Fucking fuck I really wish I could've gotten it when it was $1400. It was a steal.

Attached: Snapchat-385024699.jpg (1080x1920, 74K)

Using a t530, its a p. awkward size and the screen is terrible. But the performance is still nice and the battery lasts, I dont hate it but I wouldnt use it daily.

What laptop should I get Sup Forumsros?

Please no old thinkpad I don't want to look like a neckbeard. I'd like a slim laptop that can do some gaming.

>15.6" screen
>weighs less than 8lbs

Not the smallest laptop, but definitely a laptop

It'll become 2 years old

It's an Asus k501ux

>gaymen laptop
you don't belong here

The keycap problem sounds pretty bad. I might need a Mac to do mobile dev soon. Which is the cheapest and sturdiest one I can get that still runs the latest MacOS?

T40?

If you need a Mac, the 2015 Pro's are your best bet, they're the iPod classic's of macbooks.
I'm still undecided but I might sell my 2017 for 2015 one, I love my 2017 macbook pro, I even like the keyboard, but if a fucking breadcrumb can fuck up my keyboard, and to fix it I have to pay $700, I'd rather use a netbook.
