City Pop is a cool genre but I honestly can't comprehend how it can be one of your favorite genres. There are so few releases, and it basically doesn't exist anymore. It's like saying Berlin School is your favorite genre, except the only people still being influenced by City Pop are vaporwave producers who think they're clever sampling city pop records
My favorite description of City Pop I've heard is that it's breezy tropical music made for Japanese executives who never actually take vacations. To be honest I suppose because of that it makes sense that it was used in vaporwave, as it is essentially a manufactured culture like vaporwave is supposed to be
