Listen there is a lot of bullshit on the internet about hacking it's more complicated than some think but way easier than most think the best way is to know how to program or a basic understanding of programing languages i would recommend reading these 3 books in this order Gray hat python,Black hat python,Violent python good luck and please be careful don't get arrested by doing something dumb.
Learn how to be a hacker for real

Hey OP hear me out:
I am going for networking right now in my career path but just because I want to go in infosec next.
Is it a good idea or should I just let networking down and start reading all your books and go balls deep in programming? I don't want to become a code monkey though and I think networking will bring me a better working life...
>python
>has to jump through hoops if you need a struct
>has to jump through even more hoops if you need to control that struct's memory layout
>oh you made a \t here and a 0x20 there ... your program is now broken. hf debugging invisible characters
i'd rather hang myself before I used that shit
>no experience in low level programming
>doesn't even know how to spell C
>goes into infosec
>becomes glorified script kiddie running metasploit scripts
2018
Yeah, learn that if you want to be a script kiddie. Don't go any further into hex, bits, electronics, protocols... all you need is python and you are all set, right?
To be able to exploit something, you need to know how it works and. Everyone can make a script in 5 lines of code in order to exploit something basic like wifi or cracking passwords, but that doesn't mean you are a "hacker", nor does it mean you know jack shit about anything.
Those kind of books work only if you already have in-depth knowledge of how low-level systems work + electronics + a lot of other things. Those are books on how Python can be implemented for those kinds of things, but standalone, they are worth nothing. Don't get baited into thinking you are hot shit because you wrote a 3 line password cracker for FB.
No shit but it's the best way to start no one stars as a pro right?
No it is not, it is a good way to start thinking you know more than you do though. Try seeing if you can read assembly code first, then hex, then bits and then think this though again.
Did you actually read those 3 books or are you talking out your ass?
I didn't read all of those 3 books. I have actually worked in Python for years and have made what you would call "hacking" tools in Python, one of which nullified all contents of a file/files, even if they were read-only/owned by root, by exploiting the way bits, and more generally electricity works, along with a read/write flaw in the EXT filesystem.
If you can tell me, for example, what is exploitable about the EXT filesystem when it comes to read/write, i will gladly take you seriously. Until then, i will have to beg otherwise.
this.
Infosec: glorified code-monkeys, the field.
>itt crackers calling themselves hackers
ITT: a kiddo gets a little too excited over a hacker jackoff fantasy book and makes a larp thread about it. Other larpers flock like flies to shit.
I identify as a netherkin, and could you recommend me a magenta-hat python?
>then hex, then bits
Okay, what? Haven't you heard of radix conversion? You should understand how data is represented in base 16 or base 2, but that's it. What are you some asshole who looks at a scrolling wall of 1s and 0s and claims you can see the "matrix?"
Autism, the post.
Unless you've learned at least C and assembly, you'll never become even a shitty hacker.
This book is just terrible.
>t. larper
this
/thread
You know this how? I not some 1337 haxx0r, but I'm not a skid either.
>t. larper
>t. smelly manchild
I don't know how I forget that this is Sup Forums.
>Don't know how bits work
>Doesn't know how hex works
>Expected to know what a radix conversion even is
Nice one. Do you also do physics without knowing math or maybe do linguistics without knowing any languages?
My bad. Sorry, go on. Tell us all about your righteous Gibson hacking runs with Zero Cool and the gang.
>Take a security course
>Taught how to decompile programs to check their arrays in assembly, then write a buffer overflow using hexcode
>In the real world its just exploit.bufferoverflow()
I'm glad I learned this stuff, but god damn all this headache for something someone else did way better than I could.
Dude, you make no sense.
>assembly code first, then hex, then bits
Literally the opposite is needed. Understand how data is represented in bits. Understand what a byte is. Understand how bytes and bits are represented in hex. Then move on to programming. What the fuck are you talking about? Don't sprain your arm jacking yourself off too hard.
>exploit how electricity works
>I understand this one obscure thing and if you don't know it you're stupid
As someone's who's actually read those books violent python is decent the other 2 no. Read shellcoders handbook instead and then learn basic python to pick up violent python.
>I not some 1337 haxx0r
Youre not as clever as your mommy claims you are.
Still time to learn that and learning networking isn't a waste of time if you want to go into infosec
>Read shellcoders handbook
>att syntax
>typos
No, thank you.
He's bullshitting
>I not some 1337 haxx0r
Yeah, we know. So stop larping, kiddo.
>doesn't understand what a revised publication is
>claims to be a leet hacker for knowing python
>makes thread about books he's never read
>claims to make leet hacking tools
>doesn't understand how memory works
How's the 8th grade treating you Johnny?
>Sup Forums is friend
>uses kiddo
k
>2chan is vegetables
>uses mugs
k
All these triggered roleplayers are making me hard.
Uh, what, nigger? I have the latest copy of shellcoder's, and it's hot dog shit. Still AT&T syntax. Take the dick out of your ass. Also, I didn't start the thread.
>projects retardation
>still thinks (s)he is special
k
>hurped on the durp
>rutabagas
k
>mom molested me when I was a growing
>forever manchild
k
>embarrassed because an anonymous person on an anonymous imageboard called me a larper
>forever zeppelins
k
>thinks his time is well spent
>moms pinky still went in ass
k
>jones don't even know about that
>the butter gun is ready
k
>chair smell intensifies
>iq lower than the number of keys on keyboard
k
Has this dipshit figured out he's responding to an automated bot yet?
>where is the smoke raccoon
>they are lowkey
k
>Nigfags
>dragon dildos on 2-day shipping
k
And another little kid larping thread successfully derailed. My work here is done.
but isn't that glorified script kiddies running metasploit scripts get nicely paid with comfy job..?
...
Are there similar books that are not in Python?
No.
Real hackers learn python and BASH.
Hacking the art of exploitation
To what end would you need to read that stuff manually? Obviously the maths are important, but nobody reads that stuff without some help.
So what is the best way to learn college?
Of course, but being able to write your own scripts and know networks & systems at a deeper level will make any tech job from Helpdesk to Sysadmin a lot easier & you'll get a much better pay.
might be going for a phd next year with the guy who wrote that
my pajeet sense is going off at his post. at "read bits" in particulary
This. I havn't finished it yet but it is very well written. This and do protostar box if you want to learn C/assembly/overflows
...
Read at least Petzold's Code first
A shitty mechanic always blames his tools.
Never do a PhD.
why?
Learn Python the Hard Way
then
Learn C the Hard Way.
then maybe fuck around with assembly
