kill yourself

what equipment would you need to do field recording at a very very low budget?

this took me 5secs to google

I'm a noob to field recording. Thinking about getting a Zoom H4N. Good choice?

also new, but zoom have stopped making the h4n, so you might be good for 2ndhand but otherwise gl. what are you thinking of recording?

Nature - birds, streams, frogs. Also want to use it to record concerts

I'm quite an avid recordist, here's an album of mine: mola-recordings.bandcamp.com/album/d-ch-ki-recordings-from-a-soggy-sleeping-bag

just grab any handy recorder like a Zoom or a Tascam. after a while you can save up for some nicer external microphones and then eventually a decent recorder. Top tip: buy a fluffy windscreen for every microphone you get.

i bet it was only a fried resistor or something

> but the smashing is so well recorded

hah, how did you find that? (or do you know me?) yeah im the guy in red. thanks for the compliment.

what was your set up? and where was this recorded?

just clicked thru from the b/c link

that album was recorded entirely with a pair of DPA 4060s running into a Tascam DR60D. I used a minimal setup because the recordings are along a 500+km historic road in Japan called the Tokaido so i had to pack light as I walked the whole way (except for one time when i got lost in some mountains and had to ask for a lift from a local farmer)

any other recordists here? MJC?

is this the mjc you mean?
