I have a Budget of $350 for a new Amp. Low wattage is fine, i don't plan on taking anywhere bigger than a small coffee shop. My Only requirement, Valve Only. Obviously Cheaper is better and I have no objections to buying used. I need Suggestions. I play pretty much anything, but gravitate mainly towards grunge and metal
I was looking at the Blackstar HT-20, thoughts?
William Garcia
Reminder that 90% of your guitar's playability is fret work and setup.
Ethan Kelly
bait somewhere else faggot
Wyatt Morgan
No, it's all in the strings. You could have all the best fretwork and setup, but if your strings are rusted to death, playing it would be a torture.
Lincoln Gonzalez
nigga please that's like saying it's all in the strings because if all your strings are broken you can't play.
Hudson Watson
>implying it's not based on how pointy the headstock is
Julian Rodriguez
Why is that pedalboard insulting? Newbie here.
Michael Allen
No idea, bro, quite honestly.
It doesn't stop some faggots being offended by it on a regular basis, though.
Brayden Wright
The guy put that there because people were making fun of it.
Nathan Jackson
Yes but why were they making fun of it? Do the pedals suck? Is it the arty design?
Isaiah Ward
Expensive pedalboard + difference in personal taste perceived as insult + juvenileness + Sup Forums.
Jaxon Butler
I can't speak to the motives but they were saying things like "$600 for a $30 pedal". The wooly mammoth is very famously a simply fuzz pedal that can be made with as little as $15 worth of parts. The one he has has an added 3 band tone circuit... Well, I'm in no position to criticise myself.
Colton Lee
Ahh, okay thanks for helping me understand.
Charles Richardson
A $3,000 amp doesn't cost more than $300 in parts to make.
An iPhone 6 costs $200 in parts to make.
If you have ever bought anything considered high-end, the actual parts costs were only a fraction of their final cost and if you can't understand why you're a moron.
Henry Torres
So you are okay with playing rusted strings? I'm talking about those that would leave your fingers with trace of rust once you start playing on them.
Connor Russell
honestly I would rec trying to get a vox ac15c1, of course it depends on your desired sound but its such a classic nothing sounds better imo
Carson Nguyen
Well, in this case there's very little cost associated with the labor and equipment required. The simpler the circuit, the less it should cost.
The reason a smartphone costs so much is in no small part the components, but also the sophistication that's beyond what, say, a child with no prior experience could learn to do, and do, within an hour.
Pic is Marshall style tone stack

Orange PPC112 cab arrived today, now just have to wait for the Micro Dark to arrive in a few weeks... New gear is exciting even when you can't use it yet.
Julian Young
Go ahead and build a WM7 and sell it then. Actually, build one and make it sound the same.
Then ship it to me I'll record a comparison of both, if they sound absolutely exactly the same I'll ship you back both pedals and Paypal you $600 out of my pocket.
Owen Perez
No, but it just seems nitpicky to consider it part of a guitar's playability, you know? I don't want to post, "Reminder that 90% of your guitar's playability is frets & setup, provided you are using undamaged strings, provided you've warmed up already, provided you are playing a typical electric guitar design, provided you are not playing slide, provided you've warmed up properly, provided you don't have your amp turned very loud and microphonic pickups."
There's a ton of shit that will make more difference that frets and setup, such as taking a large chunk of the neck out with an axe, but I don't consider broken stuff part of a typical guitar. Similarly, it seems weird to consider unplayable strings when that's a part that's assumed to be replaced when necessary.
Benjamin Reyes
Okay senpai chill down and enjoy a picture of a Nippon guitar
Joshua Ross
Look man, it's not that hard to read the values of 3 caps, a resistor, and 3 pots. By all means I could produce an accurate clone. You don't need to be defensive, I'm sure it was worth it to you, that much is obvious by your attitude. You got your money's worth. But the pedal is nothing special. Other than the artwork, of course.
Caleb Baker
I'm still proposing you a bet that can earn you $600 + a pedal worth $600. If you're so confident, why wouldn't you take it?
By the way, I didn't pay a dime for that pedal.
Jaxson Sanchez
Sorry if it came out like I'm not being chill. I just like making myself clear. いいチッル
Landon White
What are you going on about? Are you seriously trying to make a bet with someone over Sup Forums? Are you trying to make a fool out of yourself? I was treating that as a hypothetical... Don't you realize how impractical that would be?
Brandon Carter
post ur address :^)
Joshua Garcia
My point is that every kid that has learned how to read an schematic and solder thinks they can replicate every single pedal in the world yet every single copy that I've ever heard and compared in my life - and they weren't few - sounded different not only from the original but from each other. Following an schematic can be simple. Getting exactly the same components isn't and that's a major factor.
Just think of the hundreds on Klon copies that all sound close but different from each other and the actual Klon they were trying to replicate, and the actual schematic for the Klon with all the right parts has been available for a long time now.
Of course that if you're willing to settle for "close enough" and therefore mediocrity, then that's none of my business. Good luck building 'close enough' pedals or Joyos/Behringers.
I'll give you my P.O. Box, you ship to Brazil, Paypal me any Customs fees (anywhere between $0 to $100, depending on luck) when the pedal arrives (or ship by FedEx with the fees pre-paid by the sender) and the bet is on.
Caleb Kelly
>Inb4 box of dragon dildos
Camden Long
Brazilian Customs inspects every single package that enters the country (which is why international packages can often take up to 2 months to arrive) and informs the receiver if the contents don't match the shipping form description.
And if it's something illegal, well, the receiver will be questioned about it but the shipper is quite fucked since that goes directly to Interpol.
That being said, I'd be happy to resell a box of dragon dildos. Heard they go for quite a bit.

Are Kiesel guitars as good as they say? They do have some gorgeous finishes available.
Ethan Thompson
I have that exact same amp and I like it a lot. Loud enough to play over a drum kit, basic EQ, deep cleans and tasty OD.
Robert Turner
That thing is fugly. I really hate teles.
Luis Gray
Some of them have too much bevel for my taste
Carter Reyes
thoughts on piezo on an electric/solid body guitar?
Levi Foster
I have a similar rig, Micro Dark into one of Thomann's V30 equipped cab, it's great, except for the awkward tone knob. And it's got enough volume to play over a drummer.
I think that too, a bevel on the top horn isn't going to be very useful.
From the demos I've heard, they look very interesting. I wish they were more common in production models though, I've only seen them in the JP EBMM and these Godins.
Mason Nelson
Very interested to know this too. Living not in the US, it cost a ton to ship them over, and even more to ship it back if I don't like them.
I'm more concerned about how it will play out
Christian Cooper
One of my bandmates has a JP EBMM with a piezo pickup and it sounds amazing for clean stuff. Super articulate.
I wasn't planning on using it for jamming with a drummer (I'm a bass player mainly), but it's reassuring to know that anyway. What's awkward about the tone control?
Owen Price
hi /gg/ I am recording prepros for my hardcore/metalcore band atm, and since i am broke as fuck i have to use demo versions or free vsts for distorted tone. any reccomendations on how to get a decent vst distortion tone? i heard lepou is good? its only for prepro so it does not have to be release tier. thanks in advance
Luis Kelly
It's vastly inferior to a simple three band EQ, and I think the "left part" of it (6 to 12 o' clock) sounds too scooped for my taste, so I tend to leave it in the same position generally. If you've got an OD or an EQ pedal you probably won't have that problem.
TSE808 > Ignite Anvil (lead channel with little gain) > Ignite NadIR It takes a bit of tweaking but I can get an acceptable tone that way, add in some noise gates/compression depending on the stuff you're using.
if i want to play in the major scale in the fifth position, can i make chords in it? ie: if i play the C, E and G from this part of the scale, would it still be a major C chord?
Charles Miller
Fuckin tasty. I want a Warped Vinyl pretty bad. I had a Talons for a little while, but I didn't try anything close to the settings you're using. How do you like it like that? Also, are you using it with 18v?
Wyatt Hernandez
No matter what you do, if you play a C, an E, and a G, you'll be playing a C major chord. Chords are just combinations of notes, regardless of octave.
Lucas Hughes
Not that user, but you act as if zvex climbed the Himalayas, found only the rarest(because rare=good) parts, compared hundreds of components, all to finely tune the WM circuit. Well, they didn't. The reason so many clones don't bother with that is because anyone with exposure to pedal building knows the only thing boutique pedal makers give more attention to than them is being sure to put in "alpha" pots.
different circuits resulting in mediocrity would make sense if ZVEX had actually targeted a sound with the components they chose. I doubt they did.
Aaron Wilson
I dont get it
Joseph Walker
Lol I watched the official demo. The narrator would do a good vocalist for Skrillex
Adrian Jones
thx man will try that
Jonathan Martin
You're not good enough
Nathaniel Cook
Anyone got any idea which squier strat this is?
Angel Reyes
any tips on how to get a good setting? the options are kinda overwelming since i have been working with guitar rig presets or podfarm presets up until now
Jack Watson
Looks like the electric one.
Blake Gomez
I built a tele, and it's great. But the humbucker is quieter than the neck by quite a lot whether it is bucking, split, or phase inverted. Any ideas??? Are bridges always quieter?
I built a starcaster and already repositioned the bridge, but the intonation won't work. It's always sharp on the first half of the neck, by enough to personally annoy me.
Are there any other things that affect intonation a lot?
Oliver Martinez
Yeah i mean like aff, bullet, etc.
Adam Sullivan
Try turning the bridge volume up
Charles Scott
Leave the tubescreamer VST like it is, or only touch a little bit the tone knob depending on the tone you want. As for Anvil I generally go for a shittons of mids and not too much highs. Don't be afraid to touch the settings really, the only two traps you can fall into are scooping the mids too much and using too much gain.
>I built a tele, and it's great. But the humbucker is quieter than the neck by quite a lot whether it is bucking, split, or phase inverted. Any ideas??? Are bridges always quieter? Sort of, I've heard that the same pickup will be quieter in the bridge than it will in the neck. Either raise the bridge or lower the neck pickup.
>I built a starcaster and already repositioned the bridge, but the intonation won't work. It's always sharp on the first half of the neck, by enough to personally annoy me. That sounds like you fucked up big time there.
Owen Collins
Hey that fixed it thanks!
Nah but seriously, that's not it.
Joseph Allen
>Either raise the bridge or lower the neck pickup.
I'll give it a go (raising the bridge). The neck is beefy.
Is there any way to check if the pickup is faulty? It "WORKS"
>Fucked up big time Yeah I think I'll have to plug the repositioned bridge and redrill.....
I think the neck angle is fucked too and this one was a setneck job
Might have to shitcan it.
Ethan Foster
Oh I forgot to ask, is there any problem associated with basically raising the bridge pickup straight to the strings since they don't move so much near the bridge?
Leo Harris
nah, most people don't like it that high for tonal reasons though. Can you post a pic of the starcaster's bridge as it is?
Nathaniel Fisher
I just realized I've just gotten worse on guitar in the past 3 months and it's depressing as fuck. Nowadays there are more dead notes than ever on my playing. I wanna die.
Jonathan Morris
Practice more you pathetic sack of shit
Brayden Carter
thx again breh
James Torres
Whats your opinion on Squier Jaguars?
Jason Robinson
Pretty much a fender with bad frets honestly
Samuel Scott
> piezo One of the reasons the JP line is my current favorite. It's very cool and adds another layer of possibilities since you can blend it with the magnetic pickups or use it alone.
Parker Flys have it too I believe but I never got along with their aesthetic.
Christian Murphy
I have the exact same make, only that its this colour. Not bad, but im really planning on buying something better.
Logan Baker
Not him but do you like the neck?
Jayden Hall
Well, yeah. Its a good guitar for this price, and ive had no problem with the neck, and for me its comfortable enough. Are you planning on buying something similar?
Caleb Moore
i have an mxr carbon copy, i've been using it with batteries for a while, just recently set up my pedalboard with a power supply instead because i'm sick of batteries. the carbon copy sounds different now though, everything seems much stronger. is this normal? i bought the voodoo labs iso 5 and it's plugged into a standard 9v plug, not the high current one on the power supply.
i just don't want to fry the pedal
Jaxson Robinson
there's a pristine eastwood airline in the JW red/white in a shop near me for 750 (could haggle them down if i was so inclined), and i'm rather tempted by it. not even a huge white stripes fan, but it does look pretty decent.
Kayden White
No,just curious. Since you actually the guitar, I'd rather hear whether it's shit or not from you. Is the fretwork good?
Hudson Jenkins
I always wanted a pickup config like this.
Jacob Perez
So I want to add an output jack to my guitar.
I think that the electronics being passive it would be a simple process but if anyone has done this it would be a big help.
The reason I want to do this is that I have an effects pedal that is a big part of my sound, that goes directly into the output jack.
This gives me a perfect muddy sound but no sustaon so i want a second uneffected signal to run over the top of it with better sustain.
As a sidenote, any ideas on how to mount it semi-permanently to my guitar?
Bentley Ortiz
This is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone here know the chords for the acoustic version of I have to look up just to see hell by Marilyn Manson
>inb4 marilyn manson >inb4 figure it out yourself
Luis Hall
A second jack is cake
Adrian Edwards
Well im not a specialist, but id say its pretty good, or at least i like it. It simple, and I can comfortably play on it. Although the pickups are not the best in my opinion.
Tyler Hernandez
>asking people to transcribe for you pathetic.
Nathan Long
>Squier Vintage Modified and Classic Vibes are fine. I've played several CV and VM strats and at most they needed a decent setup. They're really not bad. Try it out, if YOU like it, well, that's what matters.
Noah Wright
Why not just use an ABY box or even convert your guitar to stereo?
Noah Turner
Thx guys. Looking for a vintage mod atm. Hard to get a Jaguar here in Germany. Most Fenders have ugly colors or humbuckers in it.
Looks like an affinity strat, the bullet strats say bullet strat. And any of the higher quality squier strats have a gold squier logo on the head
Joseph Barnes
not bad at all user..
Levi James
Best amp that I could get for $260 or under? Used allowed, planning on playing an epi lp standard on it. I would want to keep it as long as possible, meaning I would like it to have enough power to play over drums or else be a bit cheaper but still loud enough for bum in the subway or coffee shop playing. So far Ive mostly ran into the mustang III, but Ive heard it doesnt really hold a candle to a "real" non modeling amp, which is off putting.
Daniel Wilson
A lot of this song lacks articulation, particularly the leads. You hit on some good moments that could stand on their own. I think you should try to trim out some.
I thought the chords in the verse didn't jive with the chorus that well. Very strong chorus btw.
Overall definitely a good song. With polishing, new hit single.
Nolan Perez
ty
>A lot of this song lacks articulation, particularly the leads. do you mean in terms of production or the leads themselves?
I agree about the verse chords and couple of the transitions but I think they're ok for now. I'm not much of a vocals guy so maybe they can be adjusted when (if) it comes to that
thanks
Jaxon Adams
the biggest problem I can see with it is that the pedal board is posted in every new /gg/ thread every day.
Everyone is fucking tired of seeing it
Adrian Moore
Because the ocillator has no bypass and i love the tone except for the sustain i think running a clean sound as well as the wet signal from the guitar itself could be a cool idea.
Julian Williams
did you get it as a starter? its the affinity like said right?
Charles Robinson
It's like I didn't even post ">inb4"
Jaxson Gray
Dad is dying of cancer, song to learn for this feel?
Luis Walker
Fuck off frog poster.
Gabriel Green
in the end
Michael Baker
I mean the leads themselves. In terms of articulation I'm referring to construction, not technique. As in articulating your idea. There's a mix of parts of the song with clear emotive ideas, and parts that have more of a filler sound to them. Try to pick out which parts sound good to you. Also, cut back on the transitions in general. It's a very common mistake to put too much effort into transitions, mostly because nearly everything sounds a bit abrupt when you've been working on a section for a long time and switch to another. Truthfully that abruptness would benefit a song like yours when you consider the tone of the chorus. Your chorus has a bit of bite, so of wouldn't hurt to give other parts of the song a kick through various means.
tl;dr Get to the point quickly. You've got something to say musically, say it.
