"Reviews" Last.fm is Magic Edition

From best to worst:

>Fugazi - s/t EP
Only real worthwhile output from this band as far as I'm concerned. The most raw they ever were and it pays off. I still can't stand how much of a pussy-fart Guy Picciotto is on vocals sometimes tho.

>Tom Waits - The Heart of Saturday Night
Idk how this was rated lower than Closing Time cuz I liked this way more. Took more risks and payed off more. Last and first couple songs on the A side are stellar.

>Bluetile Lounge - Lowercase
Thought this would literally be lowercase. Wasn't that far off, though. The progression was subtle and satisfying, just the way I like it, though the last track was just alright.

>Gato Barbieri - Last Tango in Paris
Waaaay better than Fenix. The waltzes at the end were particularly satisfying. Still kinda eh tho.

>Basic Channel - BCD-2
Hated this first listen, but I actually really came to enjoy this and was pretty hypnotized by both of the "Phylyps Trak" songs.

>Tom Waits - Closing Time
I like this dude's early stuff, I just don't love it. Had a really somber overtone to it, I thought the lyricism was just slightly less witty than his next album.

>Spiritualized - Lazer Guided Melodies
Their most mediocre output I've heard so far. Very little continuity between the tracks that were different "parts" and just felt glued together.

>Spacemen 3 - The Perfect Prescription
I actually really enjoyed "Ecstasy Symphony" but that's about it. I liked the bonus tracks loads more than the actual original tracks but I guess I can't count those :/

It should be my top100

Not that dumb ty ;)

>not hampus
are we not all hampus and free to use that in the name field any time we feel the need to be a bit pretentious? That was always my impression.

Wow, our taste is surprisingly similar. Fucking love Wrong. But i have to say this
>No STGSTV
>No Future Days
>The Wall above of Meddle
>Halber Mensch instead of Kollaps
>Akuma no Uta instead of Amplifier Worship

also
>Arvo Part - Alina
was it me?

Goin out for drinks for my buddys birthday today.
Probably going do a few more of these when I'm back tonight (~8 hours from now).
Why do punk singles and beer work so well together?

i just didn't want to be another anoin being a dick in /daily/, sorry

it's all kewl man but don't capitalize the H, that's way too obvious

Nope, sorry to break your dreams

The Wall is worse but it gives me so many emotions that it has to be above meddle, sorry :(

Happy b-day!

Oh and
>Machine Gun that low
Shaking my head friend

Machine Gun is that low because I listened to it once and fucking loved it but now I can't listen the whole album anymore without dropping it somewhere in the middle :(

Also I'm missing a lot of albums from that chart. My backlog grows bigger every second.

Does literally everyone here like Brotzmann??
I see his name mentioned like 10x per thread.
He's such a polarizing artist it's weird to find such unanimous praise.

I love Machine Gun, and to me every time i listen to it o like it more, specially since i've listened to more Free Jazz since. Aoyama Crows is amazing, too. Not as abrasive but really good improvisations, every member is doing something Mind blowing too

is shamepai pastabot5000

I don't. Brötzmann a shit.

A lot of people don't like Free Jazz. /daily/ does. Also you already know i fucking love Peter, so you shouldn't be surprised

this is poseur-general, of course people like brötzmann.
it's aggressive free jazz that has a very immediate, cathartic feel to it, so it's quite easy to appreciate for the average poseur.

I just can't get over how I hear the name Brotzmann 5x to every 1 Wayne Shorter or Joe Henderson or Lee Morgan.
I guess it makes sense since people here are more drawn to avantgarde music than jazz itself... still weird for me though.

Solid review.

Don't lie ;)

I think the people here that don't really like him are just indifferent and not aggressively against his music. which isn't that unusual since most people here appreciate musicians that take risks and experiment. Typical jazz fans with maybe less eclectic taste than dailiens tend to prefer stuff that doesn't tend to deviate so heavily from the norm.

yeah, it's the same reason why people here are more into modern classical than classical

thank, i tried my best

>too drunk for full, optimal appreciation of fusion jazz
>not drunk enough to ask real people if they want to get any drunker
>not sober enough to talk to people who matter (or not drunk enough, might work as well)
>ot nearly drunk enough to memepost or create the next big pasta
Life is meaningless, ll hope is useless, joy is a lie and Casiopea is actually decent at points.

little known fact, this is one of the saddest albums of all time

Don't worry, I'm not lying B^)
I'm winking too but you can't see it because of my shades.
>people here appreciate musicians that take risks and experiment
That doesn't explain why people like Brötzmann at all...

why do you need to be drunk to ask people if they want to drink with you

don't worry, we'll get through this
ps i like your casiopea reviews

Get drunker
Is that good? Seems like terrible grindcore

Jesus, I'm gone for a day and I come back to see you people blow through two threads (maybe more)? That's a lot of shitposting in 24 hours.

Did you read throgh them? They were amazing

Because you lack credibility otherwise.

just wait till summer happens

Who remembers ?????????????

Yeah then the shitposting will really die down because we all have jobs.
.......right?

kind of
its certainly not grindcore

> part time jobs
>more time consuming than studies

>people here appreciate musicians that take risks and experiment.
why is that tendency itt?

Oh god this is awful. I had great expectations because of the cover and then they ruined them like that :(

see, you're already feeling saddened

Because we all listen to new music almost /daily/, and music without risks tends to get stale very quickly.

the cover is definition of shitty scene kids music

>The spongebob threads
Do something please. Stop this
We are obsessed with impressing each other. Hence our need to listen to boundary pushing music

i miss the scene aesthetic :(
i want a scene bf :(( i want to be his scene gf :::(

imo counter-shitpost anime

>dumb animeposter gets mad at people posting cartoons
oh the ironing

daily likes novel, weird stuff :^)

idk about others but I find any form of art that does something different or takes a risk and fails more interesting than just something that does what's expected decently.

spongebob is 1000x better than any anime

but ur a butch lesbian

The Modern Lovers- The Modern Lovers
Like the stooges, but fun
the ballad tracks are incredibly charming
Jonathan's voice is 2qt
the organ is really a really nice touch
it's just great/5

Jonathan Richman- I, Jonathan
Jonathan just sounds so cool
but what the hell is he talking about
these weird rambling lyrics are great
the sister ray interpolation is possibly the greatest thing ever put in a song
I relate to his love for the VU
falls off a little in the second half

Radiohead- My Iron Lung EP
very angsty alt rock
but I really like this period of Radiohead (post PH eps and The Bends)
it appeals to my inner angsty self without getting to whiny emo
also the guitar lines here are of course killer
the first half is some of the bends style rock while in the second half its more dreary and acoustic
it's a little better than alright/5

Sonic Youth- SYR 2: Slaapkamers met slagroom
the first track is really good noise rock epic
the riffing sounds very slintesque and it has a lot of krauty repetition
the other two tracks are ehh noise rock instrumentals
3/5

fish_loses_his_shit_and_pans_everything.png

>2 and Monster Movie in second tier
very nice taste

no
I can tolerate >band has 3 drummers
But this is getting out of hand. Maybe i should

I mostly like pop music to be honest

jonathan richman is just great isn't he?
such a sweetheart.

>Maybe I should
Or maybe you shouldn't

pop music can still push boundaries and experiment

but hahaha is the happy simple man of /daily/ so u don't count as an average

yea but thats not exactly what i meant, which was more like, whether the thread's culture or premise factor in in some way that makes sense, but desu its most likely as simple as i woulda thought and put it

>mfw I'm still banned

for what

Pretty much

Glad you liked Modern Lovers tho.

how?

sure, but it doesn't have to

i want to get at least one other guy itt to love ES as much as i do
listennn the album

Not liking anime

Justified desu.

All anime-hatng people should be banned from Sup Forums permanently so we can spot all animefags and execute each and every one of them until the plague they represent is wiped from the face of he planet.

Finally revisited ...and the Ambulance Died in His Arms. That 20 minute take of The Dreamer is Still Asleep still gives me shivers. Almost certainly my favorite Coil track.

Read OP's post :^)

I guess they thought I were using tor for some strange reason and decided to ban me. I appelled something like 6 hours ago but they still didn't answer me

Deny yourself from this plain of existence.

>says the literal pedophile anime loving manchild

Give me the name once again please and I will listen to it tomorrow

...

Enter Shikari - A Flash Flood of Color

>Like the stooges, but fun
So exactly like The Stooges, you mean?

Wow RPO was good. Might give it an 8.5/10 or a 9/10
Stop
Don't reply if not music related. This is a board of music

>So exactly like The Stooges, you mean?
sorry, "light-hearted" was probably a better word
the Stooges are fun, but lyrically they usually are a lot darker than the Modern Lovers

I listened to Undercurrent by Kenny Drew which is a 60's hard bop album with Hubbard and Mobley among others. With that in mind you can imagine how it sounds.
Pretty prominent musicians playing a style they're very fluent on gives for some great moments, with stellar playing and very enjoyable grooves. There's also some more generic tracks which don't stand out too much but are still rather cool. I liked it.
I think I should probably start getting on with French music.

I like Pete, mostly his early output.I do not look forward to listening to a lot of stuff he puts out since he rarely steps out of his general style of playing and it's also not consistently as good as some favorites from him I have.
No, you just posed you liar.
