SO HYPED
>that ending
OH FUCK
dig the main riff and then second part of the solo but idk, i guess its a grower
or literally right on their labels website as long as you have flash lmao
I kind of liked it. The last two minutes or so are pretty good. The Strokes in general are kind of bland imo, but they do have some catchy songs. I give Is This It a 7/10.
I really dig it. Has a real summer vibe to it.
This song is killer
>EP
>2 songs
jej
nobody gives a fuck you self important prick
Hard Voidz influence is obvious.
3 songs*
+
1 remix
Any Mega link to the new EP?
All opinions aside, the Strokes are still a fucking great pop band.
Songwriting skill surpassing most current indie rock.
Full EP is not out yet
they "invented" and shaped modern indie rock, so yeah
The Voidz are Casablanca's biggest mistake
how so? Tyranny was a lot better than Cmedown Machine
Human Sadness was probably the song of the year and album had quite a few gems.
Tyranny had Human Sadness which I consider god tier. I like Comedown Machine and it grew on me however initially I didn't care for it.
Oh shit the strokes literally can't make an uncatchy chorus
I like the ending riff. Fucking awesome.
>stop liking what I don't like
>stereogum.com
jesus christ julian looks so gross he really let himself go.
Really cool ending, m8. Don't really care if the rest of the EP sucks, I'm glad we got this one.
Wait I'm a little confused guys, the whole release isn't going to be just three songs is it?
And if bought off of the cultrecords website right now I can listen immediately to 3 available songs?
comes out june 3 i believe
That's not at all the exchange. I'm saying this guy's marking his approval as if it means anything.
You didn't answer any of my questions at all but obviously thought you did.
Are you fucking autistic?
dude he's literally just discussing music on the music discussion board.
stop being so damned sensitive.
The song's not bad. A bit indie-pop for me, like it's a bit clean and sterile here and there, but its got a fair amount of new stuff to it.
It's like Comedown Machine's aproach meeting the prettier moments of First Impression of Earth
It's an anonymous imageboard, m8. Everyone does it.
I love the vocals at the end, Julian's voice..
Oh, and the OP specifically asks what we think.
This is good.
check'd
Car Seat Headrest for plebs
>double negative?
IT'S ONLY THREE SONGS LONG???? FUCK YOU JULIAN HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO US AFTER LETTING US HEAR OBLIVIUS FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU
#boycottthestrokes
over the years his vocals became so much harder to understand, but it still sounds cool
Like i literally cant understand the chorus, which should be the part that gets in your head
all i hear is "one time ???????? Ohhhhhhh ohhhhhh ohhhhhhhh "
so why are they releasing a 3 song EP?
Just to remind people they exist, or are they doing a full album as well
dude...
ALERT ALERT ALERT
THEY DROPPED A SECOND SONG
kys
idk about this second song man. Don't like the vocals
shit i fucking hope they drop an album as well soon
Fuck I've been waiting a while for this.
I hope Julian takes some inspiration from his work with the Voidz, that Tyranny album was fucking great.
OBLIVIUS - 9/10
Drag Queen - 5/10
drag queen was good just the quality was shit, the only version out is a radio rip from zane low
I highly doubt julian will be able to sing the ending of oblivious live
It's called a Litotes.
I saw him live with the Voidz and he sounded great vocally, hit all the high notes on human sadness
ditch the radio rip they just posted a vevo link on cultrecords.com
Thank you based Strokes. I love you Julian.
The double negative was correct here.
"They can't make an un-catchy chorus" is the same as saying that every chorus they make is catchy.
Please don't critique people on their writing skill until you up your reading comprehension.
Does anyone else think Drag Queen sounds like Aerial Pink?
>Angles was released in 2011
god damn that shitty album
Oblivius is pretty great. I am a sucker for Julian's falsetto.
And yes, I can hear some Voidz influence, but I think it could be more for my taste.
I like it. They should work on an album though, or even better, some new JC+ The Voidz content.
you are the prick here, my friend
Machu Pichu and Under The Cover of Darkness were great songs tho
Anthony doesn't like it, guess I hate it now too
Angles is actually starting to grow on me. It has a few gems like Machu Picchu, Under Cover of Darkness and Taken for a Fool. Of course it's no Is This It or Room on Fire, but still.
I think so too
Tyranny is the best thing Casablancas has ever been involved with
why is the mixing so weird, the vocals sounds like hes talking in tongues
I'd guess it's something he picked up from working on Tyranny.
Drag Queen sounds like a Tyranny b-side. I'm loving the lethargic vibe.
youtube.com
>Strokes will never release a song this good again
Not their best song but one of my favorites.
Oblivius has the most boring chord progression yet, Julian sounds like a fitting retard three minutes in, underwhelming. If you're a legit fan kys
>they will never top Reptilia
>All i was hoping was for this to be a room on fire re visit with raspy vocals but he did his pop funk dance bull shit again
The songs still good but god damnit i want a full album of Julian fucking up his vocal cords
I was pretty excited to hear this
Give it a listen...
It's shit
There's nothing new or innovative
>Julian changes his vocal delivery
>Melon gives it five seconds before calling it shit
Are there any decent reviewers out there?
Just a theory, the EP is titled Past Present Future and has 3 songs on it. I feel as though Drag Queen was the "future" song and Oblivius was the present song because to me it had a somewhat comedown machine vibe. Which means the final song, Threat of Joy, will be a throw back to their past works (Room on Fire vibe).
wtf
Yes I had this exact thought when I hear it
holy shit they did it again aoty screencap this
Drag Queen being future because it sounds kinda out there
Julian played a show with Aerial Pink and it is known that he really likes his music so this isnt so surprising.
ariel*
you got me
Tyranny >>> First Impressions of Earth, Angles and Comedown Machine
I went to that show haha
Ariel Pink performed in high heels
And most of the crowd didn't recognize any of the Strokes covers that the Voidz played
bruh I was at that show too in LA. I was on the second floor. Ebin
Yep at the Wiltern
I was in the pit
honestly this is exactly what I wanted after Tyranny, a delicious mix between Comedown Machine and the Voidz
hope Threat of Joy is good
also why can't I buy one of the new shirts without paying 50 dollars, I want that green font one
anybody else having a hard time trying to understand the lyrics from oblivius?
WHERE'S THE EP'S DOWNLOAD LINK?
this niggas singing in a different language now
"Whoa child, you've said enough"
soundcloud.com
heres julians new radio show where he premiered the songs
the guy sounds like he went crazy
"waatch oout you stand aloone"
act a like a wolf think like a sheep, "walk straight!"
its a martyrs advice, ill give it back to you some other day
take a problem, run away, thinking of a sad day, racing down the highway, looking at ya sideways
watch out you stand alone
im dead inside, i know the way downtown
Hey this is good, not cringe at all
oh wow, an artist has a particular style, you don't say.
His vocals are just another instrument at this point. His voice is just soothing, he could be saying anything and it wouldn't matter.
