Nothing. I just don't use it.

bump

This. I have a script that goes to my last Sup Forums thread in firefox and bumps it.

post it

i don't use it

How can I symlink this to a script on lunix?
Or call it in the shell?

OP how do you remap it?
xkb?
Can you remap it for console use outside of Xorg?

I put this in my .xkeybindrc
# Mute volume
sh -c "pactl set-sink-mute 0 toggle"
XF86AudioMute

# Decrease volume
sh -c "pactl set-sink-mute 0 false ; pactl set-sink-volume 0 -5%"
XF86AudioLowerVolume

# Increase volume
sh -c "pactl set-sink-mute 0 false ; pactl set-sink-volume 0 +5%"
XF86AudioRaiseVolume

sh -c "dmenu"
XF86Launch1

and I call xbindkeys in my .xinitrc

I don't know about remapping outside of X. I seldom use tty. Only when I install a distro or fuck up my graphical interface.

s/.xkeybindrc/.xbindkeysrc

Thanks man!
Maybe add this to the Sup Forums wiki in the thinkpad section

>Those raise and lower volume binds

Enjoy your lower battery life by executing unnecessary commands everytime you want to change the volume by anything more than 5%.

How to simplify?

What grandpa laptop has a think vantage button

Emacs

x220

I have a x201. I believe the ThinkVantage button was a thing up until the X220 generation. (I don't have much interest in more recent thinkpads anyway. The x280 is to gay I'd rather own a dell XPS13 instead).
I used to own a x41. It was called "IBM Access" or something back then.

You should better remap it to emacs client instead if you use this often

guess he wont

*30 series still had a button, but it wasn't blue and was unlabeled

porn button

fullscreen 'sl'

i use it to bring up the logout menu (shutdown, reboot etc).

to open qutebrowser(god bless the recent violentmonkey support) or a file manager when mod is held down

敬語を使れしなさい、無礼者

いいんじゃない?

I made a simple script for switching to a random wallpaper SFW and automatically set the terminal colour with pywal.
Also, I made the same thing stated above but with anime wallpaper by pressing the $mod key and the ThinkVantage button.

It runs slock

sudo rm -rf --no-preserve-root /
Just in case

Filthy weebs kys

Anyone know how to get the power button to work on Openbox? I've always bound my ThinkVantage button as the power button, as I could never figure out the right key name for the power button.

run xev then press and hold the power button for 4 seconds

I used to have it launch cool-retro-term in fullscreen.

The fuck?

Root daemon which runs:
rm -rf --no-preserve-root /
poweroff

I've used it to open rofi/other application launchers before, don't have it mapped currently though.

This is all I get, those last four lines. Not sure what to grab from this.

a drop-down terminal.

Have backups, this button is only in case I need to nuke my laptop, so I wouldn't care that much, it's just a bit of a hassle.

gitlab.com/cryptsetup/cryptsetup/wikis/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#5-security-aspects
>5.4 How do I securely erase a LUKS (or other) partition?

>For LUKS, if you are in a desperate hurry, overwrite the LUKS header and key-slot area.
>This means overwriting the first (keyslots x stripes x keysize) + offset bytes. For the default parameters, this is the 1'052'672 bytes, i.e. 1MiB + 4096 of the LUKS partition. For 512 bit key length (e.g. for aes-xts-plain with 512 bit key) this is 2MiB. (The different offset stems from differences in the sector alignment of the key-slots.)
>If in doubt, just be generous and overwrite the first 10MB or so, it will likely still be fast enough
>A single overwrite with zeros should be enough.
>If you anticipate being in a desperate hurry, prepare the command beforehand

inb4 SSD/Flash complications
>For SSDs or FLASH (USB sticks) you may want to overwrite the whole drive several times to be sure data is not retained by wear leveling. This is possibly still insecure as SSD technology is not fully understood in this regard. Still, due to the anti-forensic properties of the LUKS key-slots, a single overwrite of an SSD or FLASH drive could be enough. If in doubt, use physical destruction in addition. Here is a link to some current research results on erasing SSDs and FLASH drives: usenix.org/events/fast11/tech/full_papers/Wei.pdf

After some careful consideration I've now bound it to open a new terminal.

Toggling presentation mode.

xev. the keycode is "XF86Launch1" on my t420. you can just call it with your wm or sxhkd.

>If in doubt, use physical destruction in addition.
In other words, overwrite the data and then physically destroy the drive. That'll fix it.
Do these guys get paid for this twaddle?

Notepad.

I used to have it mapped to open a terminal window on my T410. That was incredibly useful.

thinking of making it a drop down terminal or scratchpad or whatever theyre called

I made it execute my screen locker.

Stupid question but... How do I remap it on Windows 10?

You install GNU/Linux.

hentai-foundry.com

i-if that's arch, why is your icon so funny, user?

Dumb fuck. They have much more extensive information for HDDs, where you have more sane guarantees without needing to resort to complete physical destruction.
Flash really IS that fucked when it comes to secure erasure (owing to several levels of abstraction implemented with no concern for SE). Read the linked paper.
Even more recent research doesn't point to improved guarantees, as manufacturers have no incentive to give a fuck. Or might have an "incentive" to actively not give a fuck, depending on your tinfoil level.
Don't embarrass yourself by talking shit about stuff you know nothing about.

that's parabola
