I'm a brainlet when it comes to laptops so i'll try my best to understand you. What cord specifically are you talking about? And how would I make sure the color signal pins are making a proper connection?

had a similar issue on my computer at work recently, except for me, everything was tinted blue.

Especially if you are using a VGA cable, it's probably one of the color pins not working. Could be the cable itself or the port.
