Hopefully nothing

Facebook won't die just because of a little publicity blunder.

Sup Forums and redd*t

fagbook allways was a kill, if you just now discovered that you should leave this place permanently

i just signed up for facebook AMA

Did you enter your real information?

Not going back and tagging friends on myspace from the 90s ...

Last known friend post 2015.

It is an absolute shithole traibwreck tho. Like AOL but shittier

Instagram

Facebook straight up said in its Privacy Notice that it doesn't give a fuck about your privacy. You give them information and they sell it.

Some CIA niggers get a hold of the information and suddenly the whole world is like, "how did this happen?"

I'm glad there's a good bit of people finally just saying it's the last straw, but really, it doesn't mean anything to normies. They still share and like and post their butthole pictures.

Also, my vote is for gab and minds, but there's too much actual nazi shit going on there for normies to feel okay about going there. I just like the "we aren't going to ban you for mean words" philosophy they've got.

sshtalk and einchan

maybe if google shilled g+ hard right now they could gain some popularity, it's all NSAware though

plus.google.com

If enough people left then people will stop using it because the people they normally interacted with will leave in a vicious cycle that could take a few months to see the full effects. This is a very good sign if anything.

most likely some messenger app. everything is phone based now and FB came around at a time before smartphones. in reality its been obsolete for close to 10 years now. what app will take it place remains to be scene.

if i had to guess i would say probably telegram because it's the most mainstream and it's free unlike whatsapp.

You didn't listen.

Whatever it is, I still wont use it. I'm glad I never made an account all those years ago when I got an email from my friend Ryan to join. It's a good thing Ryan wasn't really that good of a friend, or else I might have done it. However, I'm annoyed by the fact that I no doubt have a phantom profile from due to my family/friends using the platform. I hope Facebook truly does die, and soon.

Sup Forums

normies don't give a fuck about privacy until it happens directly to them and even then they'll still use it because there have spent hundreds/thousands of hours on it and there is no competing social media platform like FB

People under 30 use what's app and Instagram here in western Europe. Which is technically still Facebook.

None, because this crap is not necessary for one to lead a full and decent life

ʰᵉᵒᵛᵍ

whatsapp is free

This Though the latest trendy service to jump onto is Vero. Which too has it own set of concerns behind the scenes.

Usenet and IRC

/thread right here.

You're right. It'll go the way of Myspace lel.

mastodon looks cool

it will carry the facebook stigma with it though. people are already using shit like snapchat and telegram. so probably both of those. messenger apps will be the future. just look at wechat. it's not just a messenger, it's a social network and a payment method all in one. that's the future. no one needs buttcoins.

but where will all the boomers go?

to hell hopefully.

p e r s o n a l s i t e

the intellectual elite outside of basement dwelling Sup Forums troll-creatures will finally be turned on en masse to digital security and the monetization of data-mining "free" honeypots and realise the onlysolution is to rise up out of the ashes reborn in the flames of self-sufficiency as the masters of their own reality, while anyone below the requisite technological ability will be sent back to the dark ages.

>facebook takes your data instead of NSA

Just adding another middleman desu, anything you input that goes into A N Y database at any point in time is going to be fucking logged and kept forever and you should act that way.

wanna add me as a friend buddy?

add reaply

NSABook. This will be just like the snowden leaks, a few months of controversy and then acceptance by the masses that its a thing that just is.

myspacebook

I don't get this, it's been known for many years the giants sells your data to the highest bidder, facebook included. Why the fuzz now? Wasn't there even a huge "controversy" like this one before?

>no facebook
>normie friends call me paranoid for years
>"I dont care if they know what I like"
>Dating life in 2017
>"user you dont have facebook? thats a red flag"
>cave in an make a facebook account
>fast forward to this week
>every normie who gave me shit about not having facebook is outraged about the "data breach"
>"Im deleting my facebook!" post on timeline
>mfw

Normies gonna normie

Because this time it cost them an election.

Yes I'm serious.

It's okay until it isn't, and the minute trump decided to use it it wasn't okay anymore.

Are you gay?

NSABOOK is the new fad I hear

to the cemetery

they already have his real information

also IG's tos say all your pictures are now belong to them :^)

Normies are fine with their data being sold by the highest bidder but don't understand that the highest bidder can be Trumps campaign managers?

Exactly

Fetlife

back to myspace

why would whatsapp carry the stigma of facebook? Whatsapp has had end to end encryption for some time now.

whatsapp is owned and influenced by facebook so the stigma is still there

WhatsApp is owned by Facebook and has access to your contacts. Do you think Facebook isn't going to use that data?

>NSAbook is kill
wat
please tell me this is true
what happened

anons why don't we all join Mastodon?

how can you be this disconnected from the news user

We wish

i didn't use the internet for a couple of days
wat happen

this is the only correct answer

the clue was to look at the news

>A N Y database at any point in time is going to be fucking logged and kept forever

I agree in principle, but is this really true?
I mean, do they really have an entire backup of the internet?

Like imagine having a complete backup archive of everything ever posted here on Sup Forums? How do you even use this shitpile of information, how do you find anything? And that's just one site.

>NSAbook is kill
Every 2 or 3 years everyone seems to discover once again that facebook’s business model is founded on selling your data. Nothing will happen this time, just like every previous time people raised a fuss about it. Nobody will remember this in 2 months

What do the Japs use? Might just go there.

They train AI to find all the cp and they discard the rest.

pls not.
Enough normies & larpers here already.

There's nothing wrong with National Socialism tho. Sounds like you have some growing up to do.

Besides Mastodon what are the other non-scum alternatives to social media?

Attached: wow_its_nothing.png (1126x868, 59K)

To satan

Damn I'd like and share their butthole pictures too

This. It's time for moot to lead the counterattack against us by having the Google heads acquire the site for peanuts so they can turn it into a experimental normalfag playground.

>go
Better off just forking whatever badly coded shit sites they use.

facebook ain't dead

Do tell...

Instagram.

People are stupid.

Try telling that to the fatcats who own the shares

Yeah what's up with Vero?

I know the founder is the brother of some saudi prince or something

Thoughts on gab?

gab.ai/patcondell

what happened? i don't follow the news regarding facebook, can i get a tl;dr?

The problem with any of this new shit is that there's no point being on it unless everyone else you know is on it too.

It's not like the good ol days of the net where you would browse and stumble across people's personal webpages, these days you have to actively link up to people to access content, and no-one wants to do that unless you know them.

FB came along at a time when the net had been around long enough that people wanted more, but were still innocent enough to fork over all their info.

That won't ever happen again. So we're probably stuck with it until the next big innovation.

Company called Cambridge Analytica created a FB app (some stupid quiz) that collected the user's data, but the really shitty part is that Facebook's shitty privacy settings allowed the app to get the data of all the app users' friends as well.

Facebook is under fire cause CA literally did nothing against their ToS which is insane that it was allowed.

Then Cambridge Analytica used all that data to help Trump win.

thank you! sounds like the usual facebook stuff to me, i ditched fb ages ago and i wish i had never made an account in the first place.

IRC

Attached: images(2).jpg (270x187, 8K)

More or less the same FB stuff, but this is really fucked. Too bad as a 2k18 college student I can't really delete my Facebook, it's all but required for one of my groups/classes

Cambridge researcher, Kogan created the app when he harvested the data. Way before FB restricted how it was gathered (friends of freinds). Developers were encouraged to not share it and delete it. Kogan allegedly sold it to CA for 1m mil years later. The only real law violation here is Brits employed on a US presidential campaign. ~$14,700 fine is we use Bernie Sanders as a precedent.

Normies would never use such complicated stuff.

fpbp

Yeah, you're right. Forgot he harvested himself and sold it later. Cheers

The more I look into this story the less sexy it becomes, researchers and campaign personnel doing their jobs.

>mastodon
It's as cuckolded as Twitter or Facebook
Gab is better

>Whatsapp has had end to end encryption for some time now.

Honest question - does encryption mean anything if the app itself can decrypt it? It just protects users from mitm attacks not whatsapp itself. They can steal what they want.

Snapchat and twitter :13 - 25
Facebook 25+

snapchat & twitter

This is the reason why no digital means of communication are safe.
Either the program, vpn, isp or bits of cp in your p2p network can fuck you up

gab still banned weev, so no

Why has no one mentioned Diaspora?

Jewbook is good as you're able to swiftly contact anyone in your friendlist even after years of not speaking together.

The chat functions allows you to swiftly add groups for uni projects etc.

As an actual social media is dead though

The biggest Nordic bank put freeze on buying Facebook shares and companies are cancelling paid ads left and right. It won't kill of, but they're in for a few months of serious damage control.
