Why do people still talk about The Strokes and treat them like they're relevant when they're in the same category as Hot Chip, The Rapture, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Broken Social Scene, Wolf Parade, TV On the Radio, Wilco, The Fiery Furnaces, The New Pornographers, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail is Dead, Kings of Leon, The Hives, and The Vines as an "early 2000s overhyped band that has maybe 2 or 3 good songs but is irrelevant now and should not be talked about."?
The amount of people who care about a new Strokes album is mind boggling.
Owen Kelly
people still talk about those bands you listed
Hunter Smith
Wilco is better than the other bands you mentioned but you're right they are not relevant
Gavin Wood
No they don't.
Dylan Myers
because the album you posted is more relevant than any album any of those bands ever made
Jaxon Wood
>Not mentioning White Stripes
So Jack White wins?
Hudson Baker
The Hives might be irrelevant but they have way more than 2 or 3 good songs
I'm still mad they couldn't save rock and roll. The world is too shitty
Ian Wood
YEAHHHHHHHHHH THE NIGHT'S NOT OVER YOU'RE NOT
Oblivius 9/10
Drag Queen 7/10
Threat of Joy 8.5/10
Carson Butler
why do you hate music? go away
Matthew Bennett
Reminder that every one of those bands is better than kanye and the meme rap that is popular now
Jordan Ortiz
So I heard some of Casablancas's show on XMU this week. Does he always talk like batman?
Wyatt Wood
I'm pretty sure Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is more relevant that Is This It. If we're focusing exclusively on "indeh" then You Forgot It In People, Mass Romantic, and Return to Cookie Mountain are probably more relevant too.
Josiah Bell
There a link to this?
Cameron Richardson
>I'm pretty sure Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is more relevant that Is This It I'd say they are pretty close
Joshua Peterson
I just heard it driving home from work the other day I am sure that if you have an XM online subscription you can get it online, otherwise I doubt it
Jonathan Davis
people talked about bloc party's latest album, hot chip's latest got a decent amount of attention, franz ferdinand are still remembered even if no one cares anymore, this board still likes broken social scene and wilco
Benjamin Hall
Why do people still talk about Godspeed You! Black Emperor and treat them like they're relevant when they're in the same category as Kraftwerk, King Crimson, Animal Collective, Merzbow, Franz Ferdinand, Isis, The Rolling Stones, LCD Soundsystem, Super Eurobeat, Phoenix, Grimes, Deepchord Presents: Echospace Liumin Liumin Reduced, Metallica, Death Grips, and At the Drive-In as an "what the fuck did you just fucking say about karen O, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the navy seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on al-quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills..."?
The amount of people who care about a new Daft Punk live album is mind boggling.
Evan Fisher
I remember reading that Kurt Loder thought Hate to Say I Told You So was going to have the same effect Smells Like Teen Spirit had.
Luke Scott
>cant tell if you like gsybe or not...
Daniel Ortiz
kek
Christopher Taylor
Was the guy from The Vines autistic?
Landon Morales
Asperger's.
Aiden Roberts
Great OC, fellow poster. Mind if I save this?
Carter Brown
Arguably still relevant, Seven nation army is endlessly relevant, and his solo career has had a couple of hits. He's basically elder statesman status now.
Alexander Allen
>he thinks we should only talk about ''relevant" music
Ryan Phillips
Who the fuck cares about relevance
Angel James
Because the strokes are better than every other band you mentioned.
Carson Roberts
BECAUSE MUSIC IS FUCKING SUBJECTIVE. PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT TASTES. THERE IS CLOSE TO NO OBJECTIVITY IN MUSIC.
Dylan Howard
>you will never have a band as cool as the strokes
Aaron Rogers
Like are you really unrating is this it? You realise the strokes are more popular than all of those bands, and is this it is considered the staple of the indie rock scene.
I know like wishful thinking makes you think wilco and whatever is more relevant, but they're really not.
Julian Carter
Thumbs up to user. Can't understand what the point of complaining on Sup Forums is
Lucas Cox
Why was rock music so experimental and bland in the 2000s? It's like all those bands just tried to be as normal as possible? What's the appeal?
