This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as Stealth Wealth and the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
Quartz unless you have the interest in vintage mechanicals to do enough research to not get ripped off buying one, and to be willing to cover the service costs.
Anthony Perry
What are some good cheap automatic watches to get me to appreciate watch making? I'm taking in $50-$100 range. Can buy used as well.
Xavier Jones
This is why I only have two vintage Seiko. Don't want to get reamed trying to maintain too many old stuff.
James Sullivan
Seiko 5
Jackson Wright
Can I get something Swiss in that range?
Jonathan Hernandez
My plan:
Start collecting an enormous amount of pictures of hot girls with watches.
I will flood /wt/ until we get another general called /gww/ , like /k/ has with girls with guns.
unless you are really digging around ebay for interesting vintage and doing your research then expect to go into the 300-500 range for a decent "swizz" watch like a Hamilton.
>the CHADsio Man takes a photo of his wrist proudly standing on the public street, reviews photo and takes several more openly as backups >the SOYmega male cowers and hunches over trying to disguise his photo taking, quickly shoves shitty android phone in pocket once the deed is done

Why did somebody install a black dot on their genuine Rolex?
Hudson Hughes
>dial not dot
John Campbell
While I like that seamaster, I think the bracelet is pretty hideous.
Julian Gutierrez
Its obviously the best part of the watch. So much better than any other 90s' bracelet.
New 6r15 watch in a MM300 case, new limited edition grand seikos to celebrate their pursuit of accuracy, new 6l35 movement (not much info yet apart from "it's thin")
Jack Sanders
Alright, I figured it out already. The center wheel bridge uses two screws that have thinner heads, but I used a normal bridge screw for one so the gear train bridge above it can't go low enough, so the escape wheel slips out.
A fucking embarrassing rookie mistake that I'm ashamed of, but also fuck Marvin and every over movement maker for not making screws that are distinctly different from each other.
This desu (checked). Its ugly but it shits on Rolex's hollow end link trash of the 90s
Parker Phillips
They will ban you and delete all pictures of any women with watches
Try it if you don’t believe me
Only men wearing watches are allowed in this thread, I’m not even kidding
Kayden Brown
Oh shit how do you like this? You're not the normal Nomos Club poster are you? I am considering this for the summer. How's the alpha movement holding up for you?
Blake Gray
Any good shit from Basel that I missed? Already got through Tudor Rolex and GS
Just looks cheap to me, maybe I'd like it more in person.
Joseph Torres
Not even enough photos of the new 6L35 for the resident Seiko autist to tell if it's based on the 4Lxx or the 4Sxx yet. At a claimed 3.7mm thickness, though, it's more likely related to the 4L that the 4S.
Henry Watson
Also, other watch repairers/makers of /wt/, how often do you guys do this?
I'd feel less like an idiot if I knew others did this now and then too.
The watch is a bit large for her, but otherwise nice watch.
Nathan Carter
Don't buy Japshit on Ebay, migrate to Buyee.jp.
Ian Jackson
I don’t like the jubilee bracelet
Luke Brown
No. There is no reason to buy vintage 56xx Lord Matic models when you can get the much better 52xx LM Specials for the sake money. The LM Specials have a better movement with a better beat rate, better reliability, and received more factory adjustment.
Ayden Myers
>nubile This was actually a regular poster for awhile,
It’s just that this is too much soyko does to you
Noah Bailey
What do they usually go for? Do they have kanji day dials?
Zachary Edwards
How many of you 300m diver's watch faggots have actually been deeper than 25m?
Brody Miller
I am actually a saturation diver looking to install a helium escape valve on this watch
I was gifted the watch in the image (model number is in the filename). I am not versed in the science of clocks and watches. What does Sup Forums think of it?
Welp, can’t deny the stealth wealth of taking the logo off your $10,000 Submariner !
David Morgan
tfw you used to be into watches, now I just wear a casio f91w everyday, feelsgoodman no more watch bs
Joshua Adams
My watch goes 600 metres and I've been around 2 meters deep.
Jacob Barnes
I keep screws well separated and labeled because I'm oaranoid about exactly this. But I've never had to replace a screw, which is presumably when this is more likely to happen.
Carson Reyes
What's the best penisquartz?
Cameron Rogers
They're all pretty good, just find one you like the look of.
Michael Collins
I just tried on the Railmaster and it's so much nicer in the flesh. I'm torn between the Railmaster, Seamaster 300 and a Rolex Explorer and damn is it hard to decide although the Seamaster 300 is nicer in pictures than in the flesh IMO.
Adrian Bailey
9983 and 9681 are the most technically interesting. 4883 is also technically very good and has some of the nicest dials. Those are all doublepenis, obviously.
Carson Cruz
the one with two quartz dicks on the dial instead of one.
Seiko really loved that damn logo, did none of them think to turn it 180 degrees so it looks like a tuning fork instead of the way it is now that looks like a penis?
Benjamin Lewis
How about the fact that it has an eight pole rotor instead of a normal two-pole and it has an adjustable rotor indexing finger. Also all-metal construction apart from the circuit board (non-printed), bigass SR43 battery, gold plated electronic screws, replaceable quartz crystal and a bunch of other shit I can't remember.
