What sorts of programming/software projects do employers want to see on Github?

That depends on what they are looking for, but more than just school projects. If you have contributed to or have some project that's actually useful for something (even if it's just for yourself), then that counts.

I've gotten some feedback for one project I've done in particular, the rest of my repos people just ignore.

What was the project that got feedback? Just looking for some points of reference

This one:
github.com/enfiskutensykkel/ssd-gpu-dma

Fancy. This stuff is way over my head, so I guess it's good to start here.

Well, as I said, different employers will look for different things. If you have a fancy web app framework or whatever that you're proud off and that's actually something you use, you should put it out there. :)

>check github of potential employee
>do they know how to actually use git?
>is the code they wrote legible?
>is there anything relevant to the job they're applying for, is it good?

Of course if you've created a project with loads of forks and stars that's even better but there are many valid reasons why people don't have that much stuff in their github. Participation in projects by others with commits or raising issues is also a positive sign.

>28 stars
How do people get so many stars? I only have two stars, and both of them are from friends...

Post more Sup Forumstan

The number of stars is mostly from people who have stumbled across my repo, I guess. If you search for CUDA and NVMe on Google, my github comes up quite high, which is where I guess most of the stars come from. Only a couple of people have actually shown real interests in it. All my other repos have like 0-2 stars.

This user is right, btw:

I think stuff like Yandere Simulator etc

I would also like to add, that for me, the point of Github is to steal code from a person with no followers or stars, and post it as my own.

Pornographic text games/CYOA games, usually.

>posting your github on 4chins
Well, you can forget about getting employed now.

she looks old.

That's why you use git.io. Eg: git.io/vFjzv

Employers don't give a shit about Github.

If you're a good programmer the employer shouldn't care if you browse Sup Forums. Your value should speak for itself.

That's demonstratively false though. See
