AMD PSP

What do we know about the AMD PSP? Is it as bad as the Intel ME? Worse? Has anyone found a way to disable it? Will there be be AMD processors without the PSP or with open source firmware?

Discuss.

Also, who comes up with these awful fucking names?

iunno some engineer who doesnt give a fuck about marketing
maybe he likes playing his sony gaemes ondago

i know a guy whos on the psp team, hes a total gentoo autist, so don't worry you're in good hands

Use botnet, there is no way around it, until you build your PC from scratch, I mean FROM SCRATCH, with logic ICs, or FPGA of sort.

this?
what is it?
can I disable it?

pretty sure you can disable it in a few bios's

It doesn't fully disable it though. It just makes it where the BIOS doesn't communicate with it anymore. The PSP is still on.

You can disable it, and it is not essential for the CPU to work.

Some manufactures have the option to disable it in bios.

you do lose some features though, but it's not essential for the CPU to work or achieve top performance in most situations

The PSP firmware is needed for the CPU to work though. It's what is keeping coreboot from being ported to newer AMD boards.

It's roughly the same shit, though a bit different (PSP is a custom TrustZone implementation, uses an A5 core, even).
It's pretty much a dark silicon past boot if you "disable" it.

Reminder: it's okay when amd does it
Amd drones will defend anything

didnt just sony make them

Don't you have a dying company and diversity hires to deal with, Brian?

>Don't you have a dying company
Their CPU division is one leg into the grave anyway, they've lost so many high-level CPU people it's unbelievable.
And Israeli monkeys can only plaster more bandaids onto the P6 core.

Thanks for defending it AhMeD

Brian please, you have mere 2-3 quarters to live before BoD kicks you the fuck out of CEO chair.

Mhmm sure. Intel stock is valued 5x amd so gl with that

Fucking hell Brian, you're literally retarded.
Murthy needs to save Intel right the fuck now.

>10 dollars a share
Amd in dire straits like usual. Sad

psp stands for platform security processor in this case

You can disable it in the BIOS if you have a recent one.
Its not as bad as Intel ME, but its still absolutely proprietary and kind of sucks

>Is it as bad as the Intel ME? Worse?
It certainly can be no worse, the only question is if it is at all better.

unironically cts labs which discovered masterkey and ryzenfall wanted to use those techniques to disable psp by working with coreboot.

The hypocrisy on nu/g/ is cancerous.

AMD PSP
>can have unsigned firmware installed by physical admin access
>can be disabled

INTEL ME
>can have unsigned firmware installed by remote passwordless access
>cannot be disabled

You tell me.

You can disable it after a BIOS update. The exploits are a fat lot of nothing.

The funnyiest thing about this amdflaws garbage is most of the flaws apply to Intel as well.

>The exploits are a fat lot of nothing.
CTS Labs DID claim they wanted to work with coreboot to remove as much PSP as possible using the Masterkey/Ryzenfall techniques. That, honestly speaking, is a good thing and is probably the only good thing that happened from CTS labs.
