They're fine if you don't care about privacy.
You’re a fucking faggot
Your data is only scanned by dumb machines for advertising purposes, nu human other than yourself has access to it.
Nice argument there, now I am fully convinced to drop any google service.
They are ok if you're a windows user.
>nu[sic] human other than yourself has access to it
If you don`t give even a single drop of shit to your privacy and don`t mind in pay their service with your personal data go for it, their apps are not bad.
>>without using tinfoil arguments like "botnet"
It`s a fact, they`re not going to offer their services completely for free, they`ll take your personal data as payment.
>Your data is only scanned by dumb machines for advertising purposes,
Not true. Your data gets sold off to whoever wants it. It's a huge industry now, and you are powerless to control the safety and security of these profiles they've created. Equifax is a prime example. Now consider this, you don't know what sort of algorithms are being used to create these profiles, so it's quite concieveable that someone out there has created a database of information that is untrue, and potentially damaging to you. A friends Facebook post or just the fact that you browse Sup Forums could get you labeled as and THAT false profile can be sold to other companies, creating a very difficult situation.
What about mac or linux users?
>Not using fake names and shit
A profile without real informations about yourself can't really damage you. Also google doesn't sell your data.
I don't want nu-humans or nu-males reading my nu-mail
>Also google doesn't sell your data.
But they do allow app developers to do almost anything they wish to do with whatever they want through app permissions. It's the same scenario that has caused the uproar over Facebook. Google allows the Facebook app sketchy permissions, Facebook app allows in app, apps, like Farmville, sketchy permissions, etc. The platform allows too much freedom of abuse, and the business model is based on serving you garbage in exchange for some VERY valuable information. Would you allow someone to photograph the contents of your wallet in exchange for the ability to see and ad printed on a postcard? It's the same thing.
The moment you log into G-mail you're already logged on every other app. Which is a really nice feature.
>Google Drive
It's really easy to access your files if you're using a device that's already logged in any other Google Account, which is an advantage over other services. However, it's fairly easy to have your files deleted without previous warning. I've experienced that before.
>Gmail
I find it better than Outlook, Yahoo and Yandex. But if you're really worried about the privacy of your mails, not even encrypting them will make you feel safe.
>Google Docs
Formatting text is still better on MS Word. GDocs isn't bad, though.
I have never used the other apps, but I'd be equally concerned about my privacy. I won't write an essay about it, but you can read some stuff about this whole privacy problem involving Google if you search enough.
>Would you allow someone to photograph the contents of your wallet in exchange for the ability to see and ad printed on a postcard?
But for that you'd have to be stupid enough to hand them your wallet, because let's face, they can't grab everything even if they tried.
Thanks for this answer. Why are you using those apps but not others if you are worried about privacy?
In my opinion there are really just two reasons to NOT use google services.
1. Privacy concerns. Google is primarily an ad company, and they make money by collecting data, analyzing it, and then creating/choosing ads to serve you. This can also include selling the data to third party companies who may misuse your data (sell it to even more places, etc).
2 Security risk. Since google stores data about all of its users and even sends this data out to third parties, there is now a lot of sensitive information available online about you. This information is vulnerable to hackers or rogue employees that decide to leak the data, which can lead to identity theft or many different personal details becoming publicly known.
I actually went as far as closing my long standing Dropbox account as they removed old boy features like serving content directly such as web pages.
It's one less account to deal with, so I need only bolster my Google account. The "rogue employee" argument could apply anywhere.
Only downside is no good linux drive client, but there's a fusefs one that's good enough for me.
And I already use GMail. I'm starting to use google calendar a bit more for scheduling. YT is a given, although on my phone I've opted for NewPipe.
Haven't found a real use for maps/docs/etc yet.
I won't. The cloud is the future, keep using them dumb nigger cattle. No need to worry about privacy since you don't have anything to hide anyway.
They literally judge and dislike people for arbitrary reasons while simultaneously wanting the power to change political policy based on those insane reasons.
Pretty good reason to me.
>they can't grab everything even if they tried.
Zuckerberg explains why you are wrong, even while trying to tip-toe around the subject. I'm not going to write a fucking thesis on the subject, just read his recent apology and look into the well documented court cases. The modern internet has been turned into a pyramid scheme for harvesting personal data. You really have to stay on your toes to avoid being a victim.
Go to takeout.google.com and see what they have about you since you created your account. If it still doesn't convince you, just keep using it.
>tinfoil
>hasn't read the Snowden leaks to know what PRISM and XKeyscore are
>being this naive
>Your data is only scanned by dumb machines for advertising purposes, nu human other than yourself has access to it.
We've known the truth about their capabilities since 2013.
is complete shit desu
Tbh arguments like "botnet" or "muh privacy" aren't tinfoil at this point
Google docs is just awful. By far the worst document writer/spreadsheet software I've ever used. Thank God Microsoft office online is now a thing or at least office 2016
They are gimped and slow. Especially spreadsheet
If you pay your data is private.
>inb4 Google hands your data to the government
>implying that you can escape a US warrant and killer drones
>But they do allow app developers to do almost anything they wish to do with whatever they want through app permissions.
"You can authorize a shady app to access your data" == "Google sells your data"
Stop, you're making anti-Google proponents look bad.
Have you not see the news abkut facebook in the last week. Snowden called out facebook years ago, its no longer tinfoil
Thats not what was said. Apps have access to data, and they do with it what they like.
Explain to me how Facebook has access to my Google data if I don't install their app and authorize a bunch of permissions.
$20 million is close to nothing for the most powerful government in the world
Nobody said that you dolt. He said that the Facebook app has permission when installed. Obviously it has no impact if it isn't installed.
Genuinely bad programming.
All of their products either take up far too much RAM (e.g. Chrome), are too clunky to use in the first place (e.g. Hangouts), or are jittery and laggy (e.g. Play Music.)
Also, their products are straight-up ugly, although this seems to be a new phenomena for Google.
Google kills off apps constantly, half implements new ones, abandons them and fires the dev team then kills the app.
Don't use their stuff unless you like the risk of potentially needing to find another new platform for something since the google one just got discontinued.
They might delete your docs if they're not SJW enough.
or stick to their core ones and keep using your random ones as usual
>without using tinfoil arguments like "botnet".
Why not?
Kill yourself immediately. You probably believe that 3IQ muslim sand niggers who resided in caves orchestrated 9/11.
all their products, except one, suck.
They run in the background harvesting your data, which also means more battery drain.
>Not disabling auto sync to save battery
They are slow and shit. Google heavily censors things.
>what is 2+2?
>and don't give me a stupid answer like "4" or something, give me a real answer!
No, you stupid little faggot, that isn't going to happen. There is no way you're here and you're not blissfully aware that your data is for sale to whomever is willing to pay Google for it, and is turned over to the NSA via programs like PRISM. If you're fine with that, then continue to use whatever services you want. Trying to argue against reality, with anyone stupid enough to engage you, isn't going to change it.

Botnet
>implying the apps were good to begin with
Because you're a lone neckbeard who doesn't need the share-editing capabilities of decentralized document editing so why would you use an inferior product?
I use it at work all the time. Yes I work there.
...
it's actually free. we get tons of cool military shit and social programs, but we never have to pay it back.
everyone buying us debt is a fucking idiot.
>b-but google sells my data to the nsa!!
That's only a problem if you are a criminal as you have something to hide and the reason why 99% of the people have no problem using google and fb.
>botnet
>"tinfoil"
>who is Edward Snowden
>what is prism

I hope you don't mind if we take that bad content away from you... after all, you don't like degeneracy either, do you?

>Who is this Facebook
It's not just privacy. Google (along with the other big Silicon Valley tech companies) has demonstrated multiple times that they're ideologically biased and will go after people who don't tow a certain line. It's up to you if you're willing to live with that risk but it's ridiculously naive to call it "tinfoil" at this point. Shit is as real as real gets.
