Music isn't art.

Music is the highest, purest artform because it is more or less incomprehensible, totally interpretive.
Also Pet Sounds isn't the best you retard.

Music is the Art

Anything is art
Replied/10 b8

why didn't you call out ocarina of shit

the best

It is actually.

Except vidya

0/10

this

No it fucking isn't.
Videogames aren't art.

pet sounds is the only questionable ambassador for it's respective art form in the OP

OK Computer is a better shout

>Ulysses
Meant Zeno's Coscience?
>Citizen Kane
Meant The Mirror?
>Pet Sounds
Meant The Four Seasons?
>Ocarina of Time
Meant Sons of Liberty?

ocarina of time is better than sons of liberty though bruh

>OK Computer is a better shout
Please spend more time on Sup Forums before posting.
>Meant The Four Seasons?
Not even best Vivaldi.

>I just listened to everything on the Sup Forumscore chart and now I'm a music expert: the post

Yes it is. Get your head out of your ass

>PULCINELLA
>A POOR ATTEMPT AT NEOCLASSICISM BY A HACK COMPOSER IS BETTER THAN FUCKING BEETHOVEN #3
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

honestly, out of all those categories, literature might be the lowest form of art

think about it: it's the most limited; all it has are words

no music, no images, just combinations of words

it's completely limited by the native language of the reader

I write this as a guy who majored in English Lit

>Tfw pet sounds and pulcinella is better

Yeah but it's literally the most important of them all.

Pretty good point. It basically wins by default though for how developed it is compared to all the others, but pure literature is the hardest to connect to on a basic level.

Great argument kid.
Go to bed.

>ocarina of time
fucking hell thats embarassing

I haven't read this thread but you're all wrong

It is.
You mad.

What's better? Serious question.

It's probably the best one, though the fact that formulaic pop music can be quite compelling makes it look bad sometimes. Literature is the only real competition for the no1 spot.
>no images
Plenty of books have images.

>Citizen Kane
Give me some Orson Welles-core Sup Forums

Da brain.

I fixed your list OP.

I didn't edit the movie part because I haven't watched that many movies I think.

>1st symphony
nice b8

also to answer the op. music is pretty cool I guess.

tell me this ain't the tightest shit you've heard in the last 5 minutes

youtube.com/watch?v=YQlyHbu0zz4

You made it way worse.

>rock bottom worse than pet sounds
>fallout 1 worse than Ocarina of Time

>>rock bottom worse than pet sounds
but is

OK

HERE WE GO

GOD I HATE TOPSTERS2 BARELY EVEN WORKS

You really think Steinbeck's the best author so far?

By your standards videogames are the highest form of art. If you want to you can define the best artform as the one that has the least limitations but honestly at the end of the day the whole discussion about what art is or what art isn't is arbitrary. Personally, I consider books the highest form of art since I get the most out of that.

You made it worse.
Please stop adding classical.
It's not music.

Not really, I just barely know Romantic literature and I don't think Ulysses should be there.
But I do love Steinbeck.

all of them are shite

>Please stop adding classical.
>It's not music.
Almost fell for it.

>Literature is the highest form of art.
>No! It is obviously music! It is the soul's vent!
>You talk about venting but forget the visual arts?
>I beg to differ, but film is more engaging than either this nor that.
>What about architecture? Wouldn't you like to situate yourself "inside" a piece of art?

...what about a synthesis of arts?

pet sounds is boring and it's just a bunch of pop ditties with a few stand outs.

I don't see the appeal. The Grapes of Wrath was way longer than it needed to be, though Of Mice and Men was good.

Lit choice should be Hamlet, in my opinion.

...

Yeah but I always get torn up about theatre vs literature

4th
1) literature
2) printed art
3) music
4) film

All forms of art are equal, except dance.

...

kek
though I think film should be Interstellar and music should be TPAB

Ulysses or Hamlet are the only real obvious choices though

Ulysses is like having Schoenberg/Webern there
It's being ignorant of the past
and I already said I'm just not sure about the division between theatre and literature

>video recording some old dudes talking shit on gay people
>art

WAIT OK I HAVE IT FIGURED OUT

>he doesn't see the joke
Speak for yourself redditor

Why TPAB?
It's good

Ranking on how artistic each medium is:
Literature > Music > Film > Vidya
The less commercial and more personal the medium is, the more artistic it is.

>it's good
Kendrick drains the music from his albums, it's all about the narrative he's speaking, not the music.
There's never a good musical feature, there's never really a moment of production that is particularly musically inspired, it's just all filler for his writing.

>not the music

>he likes Fantano
Oh, no wonder you have such terrible taste.

Why don't you people pick on Bob Dylan for doing this same thing? Sometimes lyrics are important in music. Also, me and many others enjoy the music in TPAB.

I DO pick on Bob Dylan. Lyrics are not important in music. As long as the music is compelling the lyrics don't matter.

>implying

This is true, but that doesn't mean music that focuses on lyrics is inferior. A flute is insignifigant in music - you can easily write music without one. But that doesn't music with a flute part is inferior.

>Most populor music critic
>Has shitty taste
yeah.....it Doesn't work like that
Judy hops: oh well. The ignorance of some people
Yeah. Right judy.
Judy hops: yeah..

>that doesn't mean music that focuses on lyrics is inferior
Perhaps not. Music that focuses on lyrics is, however, inferior.

>By your standards videogames are the highest form of art.
They COULD be. They are too recent to be amazing though

opinions in general are shit

tetris

replace Ulysses with Sun Also Rises and fucking video games with visual art tho

youtube.com/watch?v=Z__U_5dsHIQ

Video games are art.

What kind of shit would brian be making if he was in his 20s today???

>beethoven
nice b8

The writings are abstract to other cultures but within the cultures they have concrete meaning.
It's not like with music where a concert C scale is still just as untouchably mysterious as any other.
>your post
nice b8
There is not a single videogame which compares to any other art.form

t. guy who never read Joyce

DOOM, EarthBound, Rome: Total War, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Tetris, Civilization 2, Mario Party 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, just to name a few.

>not even best Vivaldi.
t. contrarian

You are only so acutely aware of its limitations because you are familiar with it in general. You'd probably say something similar about painting if you were a painter

>the "im 15 and im suuuuper into art xD" starter pack

bruh Andrei Rublev > any other Tarkovsky dont deny

>beethoven
>not entry level classical

Film>all

It's literally music, theater, visual arts and literature in one, in addition to its own unique tools

>Still from a film of a man pointing.jpg

t. person who hasn't heard anything other than the four seasons
t. person who doesn't listen to classical music

>Tetris
>Mario party 2
>melee
out of all games you pick those as art

call of duty ghosts

t. someone who hasn't listened to Bach, Langgaard, or Machaut. Also The Four Seasons is the best Vivaldi.

Four Seasons is by far the best from him.

All three are exhilarating, extremely fun games.

>>melee
while i could agree that video games as a whole really aren't art, you have to admit that it's impressive how fast some people play melee, as well as how far the game has been pushed from a party game to one of the most mechanically advanced fighting games of all time
