Okay, so I drive an older car. 2001 Mazda Protege, and the speakers are blown. I want to know from fellow Sup Forumstants what kind of speakers I should get to replace my old ones. Price range is $100-400.

Look into a solar powered bluetooth speaker. It's summer, sun's gonna be beaming down on your car anyway, might as well make something good come from it.

Found the one I use, fits perfectly on a dashboard

You'll have to check the size of all the speakers before anyone could really recommend anything.

Hmmm...hmm...quite a pickle, indeed.

But that's not the kind of speaker that's going to vibrate my car. I need speakers I can actually install into my vehicle.

I'm looking on crutchfield and it doesnt tell me the exact mounting sizes for the car, but it looks like they all accept 6x9s.
So, you can probably get about anything to fit in there with brackets. What brand and sound are you looking for?

I actually don't know anything about brands, that's why I'm coming to you guys. What's your favorite brand? I need something that can handle being played at higher volumes. I never max, tho. It also needs to be able to handle music with plenty of bass like hip-hop and Death Grips lol.

Wait, does this car have speakers in the rear doors?
Crutchfield is giving me speakers to fit there, but then it tells me the location doesnt have factory wiring.

Death Grips might be single-handedly responsible for destroying my speakers

There are speakers on the front doors, back doors, and behind the back seat, underneath the back windshield. 6 speakers total.

I've always been a fan of Focal, but they're a bit expensive.
But, brand doesn't matter. Everyone can make a speaker thats shitty. I was just seeing if you had a preference.
If we want something to handle bass, I would get 6x9s for the rear deck. Then, probably a set of components for the front doors to produce some of the highs and mids.

I'm gonna sound like an idiot. I'm pretty inept when it comes to this shit, but what do you mean by "components" for the front speakers?

Basically, its just a separate tweeter and speaker. It lets you mount the tweet up by the dash, so you can hear the music better.
Otherwise the sound is mostly firing towards your legs.

i hope you like your mazda because its worth like a 1000$

Here's everything I would get for $400.
I couldn't match the entire set, so the 6x9s are Alpines. But, I read the reviews and everyone said they were quality and produced a lot of bass.

I wish I had known about Death Grips when I had my 15in Audioque sub.

Yeah and I paid a couple grand to a friend for it with only 90k miles and no other issues. So I'd say it ain't too bad. My insurance is high and credit is bad, so I am not going to be seeing a newer car for several years.

Same here. My credit should be really good, but I found out that my bank wasn't reporting to credit bureaus.

I appreciate that you went through the trouble of doing this research for me. Thanks a bunch, user!

That's fucking shitty. Mine is because of a cheap medical bill that sat in collections without any notification because my shitty roommates threw out some of my mail. Credit scores are a bitch.

Not a problem. Just make sure you read the note for the rear doors. There isn't an adapter, so you have to cut the wires.

I have medical bills in collections too. I don't think they're reporting to the bureaus though. Or I don't see them on my report at least.

Rewiring all that shit should be pretty fun lol. Ahh well, it'll be worth it to have some fucking quality sound while I'm beating the shit out of my car travelling.

Yeah lol. But, I'm still jealous. I wish I had those speakers.

Ehh, don't be. It's gonna be a few months before I can clear enough bills to drop so much money on such a thing. I'm honestly more worried about what kind of surround sound system to put in my room lol, but my price range for that is much more ridiculously expensive.

What are you getting for your room? Klipsch?

I was thinking Bose. Is that overrated?

I think they're the most overrated. They have a name and they use it.
Not saying their sound isn't good, but it's not worth paying for.
Theres a Denon/ Boston Acoustics combo that Best Buy sells. My uncle has it in his actual home theater set up. I'll see if I can find it.

Never mind. Guess they don't sell it anymore.

Damn. Yeah, the one I got is pretty good but it's an old set my mom passed down to me. Thanks for the recommendation. I had some elitist audiophile guy telling me Bose is basically the best thing to ever happen to sound quality lol
