don't be a dick and you''ll need to install weechat or irssi

there is no etiquette. just go wild
also sage
>>>/sqt/

don't act like you act here, you are not anonymous on irc and different unwritten rules apply
don't be a jerk
if you're on tech channels, help others when you can because at some point someone will help you
don't be a know-it-all
dont /msg random people unless you ask them first and they say yes

Etiquette depends on the network.

Freenode: Don't say anything or make any sudden movements.
Rizon: Everything but actual child porn is cool. Heck, even the loli kidnapping sim guy has his own active channel there.

IRC is dead, grandpa. Stop being autistic

it's not that bad of an idea actually. I was near-NEET in my college days around 2000 and my verbal skills were SHIT. but interacting on irc, rough as it was at first, thickened my skin, and greatly improved my verbal abilities. I think it forces you to type in full sentences and quickly think of replies. You may enjoy interacting in moderately active rooms with lots of ppl participating, rather than dead rooms with 1 or 2 ppl. it can be chaotic and frustrating at times, but it's a good learning experience. also, you may need to browse lots of channels before you find a group of people you're compatible with.

if you want to be mindful and try to apply it to your social skills, pay attention to ppl's style of communication (bravado or polite or shy, who is popular and well-liked and why, what ppl's motives are - assume the best or that ppl are naive otherwise you'll become really cynical - most are just clumsy socially, not deliberately malicious, but be aware of and avoid the few who are)

I can't vouch for today's irc channels, just mentioning my experience 15-20 years ago. I suspect troll culture and Sup Forums could have made them more toxic, but I wouldn't know for sure.

and there's not really an etiquette. speak freely. you're anonymous, but use it responsibly and you'll be okay.

What about EFnet or Dalnet?

Irc makes me uncomfortable because everyone can see my IP

You can start with #Sup Forumsdpt. It's here:

>not avoiding the galatic singularity and maintining the self

fuck that pedo shit, he's banned from a few channels on rizon

pretty much if you have something interesting to say people will like to talk to you, if you're boring then you will be another lonely person sitting in a bunch of idle channels with 50+ other people. and if you join channels with different political views than you then you are 100% going to get flamed and 50% going to get banned. (yes even in non political channels)

>lol kidnapping sim
Link?

That might be frowned upon here. Just search around gitgud.io and something'll turn up, I think.

Etiquette depends on the network, good advises were given already I can add conceal your IP by asking for a cloak or vhost and hiding your e-mail.

IRC is never written in lowercase, faggot.

irc.rizon.net #ADGC lrsp. Shame Yosh is always there too, he's a fucking tool.

#AGDC

I like IRC though :(
It came as a preinstall initially to my Linux Distro but I got more into it over time

freenode is gay as fuck you shouldn't bother with it unless you need help with some software that has a channel there.
>where do I start
#homescreen on rizon

lrsp is a cool guy

What's the best IRC client for Windows, Mac, and Linux?

>Windows
hexchat
>Mac
Bleach
>Linux
Weechat or irssi

what's the channel on Rizon that makes these videos? heh

Dalnet is a ghost town
EFNet you have to know who you can troll and who to avoid. DDoS skids are less common there than before but they still exist
this, also expect to wait a long time for a reply in some channels

you do use a proxy, right user?

Thanks
