Can confirm cheap MS keys on eBay are great. I've done this for a number of friends, seems to work fine. Anyone know how they get the keys so cheap? Is it just someone with a volume license violating their EULA by redistributing the keys?

They're usually selling "system builder" or "refurbished" keys. Those keys are legally supposed to only be supplied along with a motherboard. If you read the product descriptions on the listings they tell you to contact them for information on how to get the (scrap) motherboard. Of course no one ever contacts them to get the busted motherboard shipped but those lines are in the ad to cover their asses.
