Yeah it looks cool.
The design is clean and kept simple.
Looks lightweight compared to modern websites.
Whenever you like the "Japanese" looking icons or not is a different issue, but the design is neat.
Also I actually used internet in 00's and it was refreshing to see something that doesn't look like a huge javascript banner with few mb big background image.
