Do you guys get frustrated as fuck when you try to get your friends into music and they just have no interest in trying new stuff out, or even worse, they'll listen to a few seconds of a song and decide they don't like it...
I've got friends who literally only listen to rap and hip hop from the last 5 years. I just feel so sorry for them because they're missing out on so much. Not saying that modern rap is bad or anything, but they're placing such a huge limitation on what they listen to. I don't have a single friend who I can have a decent musical conversation with. Anyone else know this feel?

post more pear

sauce?

where can I find pearn porn videos pls
i need it for my fruitology researchs

I used to have decent-ish musical conversations until I had to move and now nobody I know is interested in music at all apart from top40 and oasis. Thats why I came here to /mu but it turns out people here prefer pear porn

My friends basically listen to the same thing you said but they are open to other stuff usually. Can't really have a musical conversation about anything but good rap and hip-hop though.

i know this feel exactly.

and they are not even sexually aroused by edible fruit

Most people have little to no appreciation of art but you shouldn't care about the music taste of other people. I have friends but I always go to shows alone.
Me and my best friend have no common interest anymore about anything. That's a bigger problem than not listening to them same music.

Same here, except replace rap/hip hop with edgy metal

Inedible fruit on the other hand...

that's ok, op

not everyone has to be interested in musical exploration

I get more frustrated when someone constantly claims himself to be an expert in music and yet he listents to nothing but progressive metal. I know a guy like this. He is a decent person but when he starts talking about music (and about how metal is superior to all genres, and dream theater is the pinnacle of art) I just need to leave the room. The worst thing is that he's never open to any critisism regarding his "knowledge".

But I just want them to know the good feels ya know? Like these people will explore there ONE genre a bunch, but just refuse to branch out. It's so frustrating. Plus I can't really help but come across as a holier than thou prick when I try to convince them of how much 'real music' there is out there...

Maybe they think it's annoying that you keep on showing them stuff they don't care about.

reminder that Sup Forums is a 18+ site

nah they cool

just chill out, because when you do find that person. it'll be lit senpai

sure? i've got an hella annoying friend who wants to show me fucking Le Mis music all the time, and it's really getting on my nerves. But I don't act on it though.

you sound like the guy who had the anco dance party. Are you him? you type just like him.

No because I don't care about other people's taste in music. As long as I don't have to listen to their shit, they don't have to listen to my shit.

are you in highschool OP?

it stops mattering

>Showed someone who loves Coldplay Sigur Ros
>Is this Enya?

Wew.
Are you me?

you gotta go in for the long haul. here's my story:

>be me
>move to new high school
>everyone listens to entry level pleb rock
>mostly beatles, led zeppelin, pink floyd, etc.
>they smoke shit weed too
>start inviting them over to smoke good weed
>let them put on their entry level pleb shit
>compliment them for their great musical taste
>after a couple of months, start to gradually take control
>create playlists with their favorite artists with some b sides and bootleg songs in between
>give them interesting trivia about the band and tracks
>slowly progress, becoming the only person responsible for picking the music
>start easy with bands like kinks, small faces, the who, canned heat, etc.
>by this time, nearly 30% of the tracks on the playlist are previously unknown to them
>start progressing to VU, stooges, MC5, throwing in an occasional CAN, Neu!, Faust, etc.
>by now, nearly 50% of the tracks are new
>as soon as they start to get into krautrock, start introducing post punk
>start easy with some television, gang of four, PIL, joy division, etc.
>by now, 100% of the tracks consists of shit i introduced to them, but i keep the newer stuff limited
>i just kept doing this for 2 years, until everyone's taste was basically mine

and this is how you make people listen to what you want.

I have a friend who likes country and EDM almost exclusively and has absolutely no interest in music discovery.

All he listens to is Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, and EDM compilations on Youtube.

He's strange.

>tfw no qt musically interested gf

Who cares what your friends listen to compared to what you listen to ffs get your head out of your ass and get over it.
