>french dudes dressing up as black dudes rapping about anime in english

Hue.

What the fuck is this bull shit at first I thought this thread was a joke

nu metal is experiencing its revival bub

btw anyone wanna ride the wave and need a drummer?

Fuck no

Why would you think it was a joke?

You think all of the music made under a genre heavily influenced by bands like NiN, Primus, and Faith No More would be bad?

Not 100% nu metal but it is a great album.

Deftones

post the edgiest nu metal

youtube.com/watch?v=EUvpMhw5ALw

nu-metal deftones are worst deftones

But still pretty good for nu-metal. I also prefer their later albums

How did a genre inspired by bands like Primus and NiN turned out commercialized?

Because it was popular with the edgy teens. So the corporate took advantage of it.

I think I love this.
-
Maximum the Hormone is my favorite. They combine it with pop-punk well. "I will stuff confetti and acorns into your urethra" is a pretty good lyric.
youtube.com/watch?v=dtf5fuTkbsA

My Ticket Home is a newer band that doesn't sound totally corny

youtube.com/watch?v=ezrVtBe6hAw

No that's just weeaboo hardcore

youtube.com/watch?v=S9PF09URHdQ

is this the best thing to come from the genre?
is there anything else that sounds like Neu! x NIN?

Dir en grey is "visual kei" which is different.

Oh, ya this came from their album, along with Stalemate.

youtube.com/watch?v=wj89IfVoIzU

(I posted the wrong link previously on accident)

feel like i'm really in a meth den

perfect

visual kei isn't a genre, it's an image.

they made nu metal

youtube.com/watch?v=ZpUYjpKg9KY

magnum opus

Nu-metal really needs more tracks like this, commercialization killed it too early.

System of a Down was the ONLY good nu metal band.
Sorry, guys.

I have a guilty pleasure toward Significant Other because of how much energy it has.

youtube.com/watch?v=KL0dBdIMslY

Korn's first album is also pretty good too, and their albums following have some good material.

nah

this aged like milk

So have you ever checked our Korn's debut? I'm curious now.

I like Life is Peachy more tbqh, sounds more raw.

holy fuck rip Sup Forums

Korn's debut is musically better than In Rainbows and To Be Kind IMO.

Why is it hip to be a pleb these days on Sup Forums?

youtube.com/watch?v=HCnb9nSv1Ew

>Korn's debut

>percussion is complex and sometimes sounds like two percussionists.

>several unconventional musical effects that sound authentic like the Primus influenced bass slapping

>instruments that you don't see often in metal or rock from around that time like bagpipes

> good album flow

> a 9 minute ending track that has a hidden track (after a few minutes of silence that's at the end of the song) that's just a recording of something they found in some abandoned garage (iirc).

I mean, I think In Rainbows is alright. but there are lots of albums I think that are better than it (imo).

>youtube.com/watch?v=ys3A_SMt1WY

What the FUCK am I listening to, this is utter shit. Toxicity is the only good song you posted.

...

So what do you think is wrong with Shoots and Ladders?

You don't need to explain Korn's STA to me, it was my favourite album for years lol. I know it back-to-front.

Somebody called me a pleb for thinking that IR and some other Sup Forumscore didn't have much depth to it.

Really? I loved adrenaline and around the fur more then their last 2 albums chi Cheng was a fantastic bassist, sergio is great in his own way they just have a different style now

>Band sounds like they have two drummers

It's a shame that they never made anything this good again.
Also their new singles are fucking horrible. Their upcoming may become the worst album of 2016.

...

>metal/funk band
>guitar is second to other instruments and is only used as texture

System of a Down is not nu metal

...

Is this Nu-Metal or rap?

youtube.com/watch?v=0JklSDqoUOU

r i p

; ~ ;

is it for real though or is this a thing where we're trying to force it just to see if we can?

Not him, but I heard from other forums and communities that it has some kind of small revival.

I am not sure how any "revival" bands compare to Korn's first album right now though.

90's angst will never be surpassed
youtube.com/watch?v=M8AD5Y--ITI

hey man, this is Black metal not nu-metal

this thread might be better suited for your tastes

Korn's debut is a legitimately inventive artistic endeavour, even if it does fall prey to some of the cliches of the genre it spawned (mainly the awful lyricism, somewhat pardoned by the fact that it least seems like a genuine display of emotion)

everything they did after that album and everything else that actually got the nu-metal tag is garbage. the stuff that didn't suck generally gets the "alt metal" tag for its wider range of influences. so korn's s/t may actually be the only good nu-metal album.

I haven't listened to Preachy but issues and ffollow the leader both have some good songs imo.

Peachy is like Debut pretty much. Follow the Leader is good but that's where they began moving towards mainstream. "Issues" solidified this. Picrelated. After this it's all went down hill.

Otep are playing at a club in my town. Should I even bother going or just leave the memory in the past?

Ya, I can definitely see why it affected the music. Is anybody else searching more for actual authenticity in music?

The first 3 minutes sound like Swans.

I can't believe this is limp bizkit.

came to post this

Why not? The actual band's instrumentation on their first two albums isn't that bad.

I like Death Metal

bumpo

Slipknot's greatest hits album is called "Antennas To Hell"

I wonder who in that band is a Godspeed You! fan?

not really nu metal but still a pretty good album

It's so sad that this band actually had a lot of potential, i wish they just threw durst out.

Their first two albums aren't that bad imo despite the memes, Durst is fine enough and it doesn't lower the overall experience.

Primus influenced track youtube.com/watch?v=R-FDGYMnccU

song with good drum solo
youtube.com/watch?v=KL0dBdIMslY

slower track that doesn't have Durst yelling and I imagine doesn't get much airplay probably.

youtube.com/watch?v=3WDiNZU33MA

review where guy looks back at their third album and comes to a realization at the end of it.

youtube.com/watch?v=Zz8Mry7xQBs

(I deleted my previous post because I screwed up the links)

Their first two albums aren't that bad (imo)

I'm not sure if it's because I have a guilty pleasure for it or if it's because I like the instrumentation.

Wow , tahats cool, can i include it on my signature?

bumpo

death grips - bottomless pit

How is this not 100% nu-metal?
