Pet Sounds is explicitly not high art.
Yes it is. Saying otherwise is wrong.

It's not high art stop being pretentious

Nice meme.
popular music can only be middle brow at most
All albums are popular music. Popular music is patently not high art.
High art doesn't mean "good" art. It's a type of art. Popular music does not fit within this type.
I hope you're memeing.
>popularity excludes something from being "high art"
You guys are talking out of your pretentious asses.
This is why people don't like art snobs, you're ridiculous.
popular music is a term used to refer to music that isn't traditional or classical. it has nothing to do with its actual popularity

High. Art. Is. Not. Synonymous. With. Good. Art.
How fucking dense can you be to not understand this?
>High art doesn't mean "good" art
So you're admitting that there can exist horrendous and ill-conceived "high art"?
Because the way I see it, its all just creative products. Not to attach labels, art is a creative product, it can be a doodle on a page or a symphony. "High" art would imply some complexity or ingenuity, brilliance or uncommon vision (again in my eyes)
>So you're admitting that there can exist horrendous and ill-conceived "high art"?
Yeah, Ayn Rand
Like Joanna newsom.
>So you're admitting that there can exist horrendous and ill-conceived "high art"?
Yes.
>Because the way I see it, its all just creative products.
I agree with you.
fifth post best post
Newsom combines elements of traditional folk, popular music, and art music. I wouldn't say she isn't middle brow, though.
