Why is british music so embarrassing? I'm british and i see a lot of hate for grime but most of the stuff from my country is legitimately terrible too. So Sup Forums why do people pretend to like awful shit like The Kinks and Pink Floyd?

Pete Towhshend was a spoiled middle class babby anyway. Generally the divide between punks and metal/hard rock is that the latter have a far more white trash fanbase. Read Christgau's accounts of the Sex Pistols. He attended one of their shows when they toured the US and noted it was heavily college kids from relatively well-off families. The fanbase was not as, uh, lowbrow as you'd expect at an Aerosmith or Van Halen show.
